They're usually appropriately priced so that the farmer can actually pay their employees. Larger stores like no frills or Walmart are so cheap because they've basically monopolized the market will refuse to pay basically anything to farmers for food. Many farmers end up having to sell to them at a loss and take out loans to make up the difference. And it's been so normalized the average Joe now sees a normal price as unacceptable and too expensive

Loblaws has truly become one of the worst Canadian companies now, in terms of not caring about anything whatsoever, other than their PROFIT!! I've been watching their pricing "games" very closely over the past couple of years. They are quietly pushing prices higher and higher; very often LONG before any of their competitors raise theirs. This is not a good look for them. They will then claim a product has only gone up say, 3%, but now they never put the item on sale, therefore the increase is actually more like 8-12%.

The spirit of the money campaign
Interesting how many comments at how more expensive are products at farmers market. My experience in Quebec City Montreal Trois Rivières Boucherville. Does not support what is observed. There are however markets with resellers and prices are equivalent or higher than supermarkets.
I skip loblaws as much as possible. We live down the road from a butcher, and multiple fruit and veg stands. Im lucky to live rurally so getting stuff at a farmer's actual stand is pretty great. They'll have a market every Saturday morning at a local distillery. Kind of cool. We even have a bee keeper who does local honey. When i was a kid someone did maple syrup but not any more. We just got a cafe that makes fresh baked goods everyday, baked in house, you can watch. I havent been since i have to have gluten free but i hear good things.
Skip Loblaws, go local as much as you can instead. Support the farmer and save money.
No frills is no cheaper than any of the other big chains in fact they're the same price or worse.
Are they actually farmers or do they get the same produce from the same whole sellers as big named franchises do?
The Westons are just brutal. Just think people support these companies. Unreal.
I have nothing to do with the Evil Empire. Worked there for 10 yrs and cant pay me enough to shop there. Absolutely horrible company and heard there firing all there warehouse stuff in the near future. Going fully automated, way to go. I will never shop at any of there stores
One hears those kind of stories, and yet, it has probably the most stable employees of any company I deal with. Until COVID, and some employee at a nearby store died of it, we saw the same faces for 20 years, and they knew our kids. Therefore they were older, and scared by COVID. But the faces are stable again, same people year after year.
SCREW the farmer's markets
I am going to other places
where apples don't cost 6 $ each
it is called competition
Please, Aldi, come to Canada. We need to destroy Loblaws’ monopoly. I despise them
Typical Galen ! Shoppers have no rights !
honestly, i will go wherever has a better the better price and quality .
Price and quality don't go together, but it is all frankenfood at this point, so price tends to win.
Garden markets are the ONLY way to help others! Helping big business no longer plays into this. Y9ur apologies are entirely empty. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL FARMERS!
_Many_ "farmer's market" sellers aren't farmers at all, they're just grocers without a store. They buy all their produce at the Ontario Food Terminal like any grocer.
Yes, support your local farmers. No, don't make blundering assumptions and then morally grandstand about it. Good intentions are like pennies, truth is gold.
Firstly, No Frills are ugly stores with poor customer service by design. Also, pretty sure there are long lines at No Frills with people impatiently rushing from behind.
people can say theyll boycott all they want, the thruth is more and more people are going to loblaws, by customer count and customer spend
Loblaws has multiple brans..not just Loblaws.
Been two years I have stepped foot in a Loblaw's
Boycott Loblaws buy from small family run stores and famers markets
Since when can we comment ???
Defund cbc ctv global !!!
i just grow my food its free all the time lol
When i heard it i thought it was a hack - that’s pretty bad but then bad is good for promotion or err 😮 idk 🤷♀️ maybe it’s bad marketing working well. Ya just don’t know what ya don’t know.
Guess who got fired lol
Farmers Markets are way overpriced.
Waaaaahhh. Slow "news" day, I guess.
Gross.
Who cares????
so what it's an ad they want business get a life
Boycott!!!
I guess boycotting them was a right to do.
Canadians complain about Loblaw Companies Limited and then continue to shop there. The only way they will learn their lesson is if people stop shopping there. (No Frills and The Superstore are also part of LCL).
Any alternative? As long as there is no Aldi or Lidl, its gonna stay that way
@@lostmoose9994 Yes, our government has done a terrible job in also allowing any competitors to enter the space. But, we keep electing the same people to office as well.
Wow shame on loblaws.
This is what happens when there's so much pressure at Loblaws to "perform" It ends up bringing out the worst in people.
Stay classy Weston Family.....(it's just groceries!!!)
👏👏👏😂
Gross
LAWBLAWS IS CRIMINAL
but lets remember that not all
FARMERS MARKETS ARE AUTHENTIC FARMERS.
FRAUD IS EVERYWHERE THESE DAYS
Sobeys in Quebec tends to shortcut growers. For instance sourcing garlic from a single grower in St Anicet to save money. As per CBC news last year. And dumping 100 smaller suppliers
What? It makes perfect sense. Shiploads of garlic come in from Chigh Nuh for almost nothing. In stores, shoppers grab it up because Canadian garlic costs 5x more. Think, for god's sake. Just _think._
I shop there and will not anymore.
Loblaws is just rubbing it in our face.
