I don’t want to brag, but I came up with this idea about 1 year and a half ago. No I didn’t tell Seiko about it, but I will take full credit for it. You’re welcome.
Don't forget that the GMT hand points North if you point the hour hand at the sun, a perfect combination with the compass bezel. (it points south if you're in the southern hemisphere)
I love the Alpinist. Having said that I don’t feel one should pay over $1000 and get a movement that is so un precise that you have to adjust it every couple of days. This is an issue with all Seiko movements and mostly the 6R35. Totally un precise. Seiko SHOULD regulate its movements if it wants to charge that much for a watch.
Another watch id love to own but can’t afford lol. I have a Seiko SNK809 and a Casio watch rn (don’t know the exact model but I got it whilst on a trip to Italy so it’s special to me lol) planning to get something like a Casio tank or a similar style. We’ll see though lol
I like the Alpinist indeed - even that I basically do not prefer ‚small‘ watches. I have already the ‚old‘ model in green. Ok, the price for the GMT is higher now but I will definitely check the new model at the dealer. 👍🏼
It depends! I think for most people comes down to how big the gap is in price and what you get for what you’re paying for. The more expensive Seikos go from $3,000 to $6,000 , which can overlap with more entry level pieces from Grand Seiko in the $5,000 to $6,000 range. But again, there are some things that Seiko does that Grand Seiko does not have such as Seiko’s 62MAS ReCreation Diver.
The 24 hour markings on the bezel looks like an after thought, to be honest. I'd rather that they got rid of the rotating compass and placed the 24 hour scale on there. But that's just my thought
Love the look. Don’t like the compass rotating inner chapter ring. Looks wrong for this kind of watch. Maybe hour markers would be more useful to track another timezone.
I think it is far too much for this watch. Seiko is a reliable brand but for that price l can buy something Swiss made ( Tissot, Doxa etc). Sorry Seiko.
Honestly isn’t that bad in person. I got lucky and got the limited edition white dial for retail (still steep in price) and I’ve been loving it over the last 5 days since receiving it.
@@OleMissshow many are they making? And Realistically will any Seiko limited edition ever appreciate in value considering they make so many limited editions?
Honestly, looks messy. GMT bezel and internal compass bezel? Very bold GMT hand and cathedral hands? Changing the classic hour markers to 12, 3, 6, and 9 for no apparent reason? Squeezing in the date window? Less is more. For the aesthetic, movement, and price, I like the older alpinists better
That prospex x is just so ugly I don’t understand why they’ve kept it this long, also the true classic SARB017 from Japan is much superior to the prospex one showed in the vid
Ha??? So expensive , more than iphone 15 pro max?😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 nevermind, you can keep you watch seiko hahahhahaha id rather buy tissot gentlemen with that price
I don’t want to brag, but I came up with this idea about 1 year and a half ago. No I didn’t tell Seiko about it, but I will take full credit for it. You’re welcome.
Did you also come up with the price? Because it's too expensive
you've done a solid for us thank you
@@wdou451 no, I didn’t. I also didn’t come up with the idea to put a caller GMT movement, I’d have put a 6R64, albeit without a power reserve.
I would love that at $650. Seiko is out of their minds
The blue dial looked great 🤌🏻
I just picked one up, it's amazing in person!!!
🎉 congratulations! Well wear 😊
Amazing watch but $$$$$$. I miss the old Seiko prices
Anything below 1k should be labelled Seiko
1k-3k should be labelled King Seiko
3k+ should be labelled Grand Seiko
@@pihermoso11Agreed anything more than 1k is too much for a regular seiko
@@pihermoso11Why doesnt Seiko hire you for marketing?😂
Alpinist prices are climbing… climbing
That date window is pulled off so nicely
Omg the white one looks amazing
Its 1.1k dollars over priced asf
It’s better than paying $7000 or more for a Rolex that does the same functions, and only costs about $600 to produce
@@shipjumper6068 that's true, but this Seiko is overpriced.
Yes, it looks better (imho) than the Seiko 5 GMT, but not a real GMT movement for more than twice the price? Not sure about that…
Very nice but a bit too expensive for what they are
Hey minute mom, what do you think about rado as a brand ? And should I get the limited edition overpole ?
That blue dial is a killer
I have the SPB155J1 version of it. It's baby alpinist...I just love wearing it.
Don't forget that the GMT hand points North if you point the hour hand at the sun, a perfect combination with the compass bezel. (it points south if you're in the southern hemisphere)
Its a beauty
More money than it’s worth. For that cash I’m going Christopher Ward
Why not Flyer gmt !!😢
Love the look of this watch. Could easily be a one and done watch

Beautiful
Wouldn't this be wonderful if it could keep accurate time?

Sweet!! learned anew word, Cathedral hands!!
Hi minute mon! What would you choose between a really expensive Seiko and a Grand Seiko?
It depends! I think for most people comes down to how big the gap is in price and what you get for what you’re paying for. @@MinuteMonthx so much
King Seiko is the gap between Seiko and Grand Seiko if you want something in between
The 24 hour markings on the bezel looks like an after thought, to be honest. I'd rather that they got rid of the rotating compass and placed the 24 hour scale on there. But that's just my thought
The indices are matte now instead of polished. Why is nobody mentioning this?
Hate the date location.
Looks like another winner!
Love the look. Don’t like the compass rotating inner chapter ring. Looks wrong for this kind of watch. Maybe hour markers would be more useful to track another timezone.
How about it compared to Christopher ward c63 gmt
Too expensive for what it is, but no doubt that people will still buy this for the crowd favorite that the Alpinist is.
What is not to like ❤
I was just looking for a gmt in that price range
That is a CRAZY jump in pricing. Alpinist didnt get THAT much better.
Enlargened is not a word
Had to ruin it with the gimmicky compass.
I think it is far too much for this watch. Seiko is a reliable brand but for that price l can buy something Swiss made ( Tissot, Doxa etc). Sorry Seiko.
Seiko should change their name to $eiko.
idk why but i don't love these. Maybe if they do it in the iconic green color of the alpinsit it'd be better.
Love the white limited, but will never buy a watch with the “X” logo, especially not one with a heritage dial where the X looks totally out of place.
Enlargened isn't a word but otherwise good info on this ridiculously over priced Seiko
What about the movement accuracy
Standard 6R54 movement accuracy
+25 to -15 seconds with 72 hour power reserve
@@MinuteMon I hate it in terms of accuracy
@@MinuteMon prx or alpinist
Way too expensive. Spb121 is a much better value prospect.
Why is the white limited edition, Why?
Why not?
Seiko’s been using the color palette of White for all the 110th Anniversary of Seiko pieces
Why would an alpinist need a gmt? Doesn't seem necessary to me.
Original alpinist were already busy on the dial, two crowns, cathedral hands, and now added a gmt hand and numbered bezel. It's too much.
Honestly isn’t that bad in person. I got lucky and got the limited edition white dial for retail (still steep in price) and I’ve been loving it over the last 5 days since receiving it.

I must be the only one that just doesn't like the Alpinist.😮
1k for a seiko
Lots of Seikos are $1k+. This one isn't worth it however.
@@toddgaak422 honestly rather get a used gs for 1800-2400

way too much for this style/alpinist brand. Sorry Seiko, come back to reality.
Overpriced
What’s the deal with not offering a bracelet for either of them? I don’t get it. The blue dial on a bracelet would ALMOST justify the price. 🤏🏽
Beautiful
