What I mean by that is that maybe the developpers wanted to make it seem like the people in the car wanted to check the area before going out of the car. I got the game and played in my own neighborhood. It is very glitchy and to be honest kinda dull. After you empty every house there is nothing to do. Love the mention of tank tracks in one of the radio transmissions. But never goes anywhere story wise

I think the main issue of the lag is that each worker is pathfinding. I think it would be more efficent to generate 1 path between points of interests and make all the workers use that one. Alternatively, you could group workers up like hordes, it would be more realistic too, since irl you'd stick close together while going somewhere instead of lining up on a straight line.
As someone else said, letting one group calculate a path and then letting all groups use it would probably reduce lag. However, I also think it could be very useful to be able to insert waypoints in the path, since you might want to avoid certain routes for different reasons.
they gotta add an option to upgrade buildings or something so you can set up guards at the buildings themselves, nothing OP but like 1-2 shooters inside so a single zombie or raider doesnt need you to move a squad halfway across the map to respond to an ant
If you make the building an HQ you can basically teleport your troops to it by creating squads and if you have enough guns, ammo, people and squads you can kill an infinite amount of zombies. (If they need ammo just pause select all remove from building and put back and they will automatically reload) The smaller buildings are good for making FOBs (forward operating bases), but the big ones are how you get a bunch of squads to set up the defense. Just scavenge the buildings surrounding the HQ so you have no blind spots.
1:01 What i find unrealistic about this game, is that you cut down trees to get wood. There is so much of more easily accessible and processed wood inside buildings, as furniture, doors, cabinets, floors, that there should be no need to even look at trees. Also, in reality, processing timber without good equipment is very labor intensive, and doesn't make sense inside city.

I always keep reminding myself of the alpha status but man is it frustrating to never make it past 10 days...
Wood seems to be a massive limiting factor to how big you can go, since making food in the cook house requires wood, and trees don’t regrow, so you need to farther and farther looking for wood. If only they introduce a more efficient way for cooking, such as coal, electric stove, natural gas, synthetic fuel, etc. Or they can burn the straws and crop stocks saved from each harvest.
It's your game. If it were me I would have created a fifth squad whose sole duty was to watch over the worker areas and buildings. Then you could scavenge without having to pull those resources or build that many towers.
This game has a lot of potential, but it lacks the human connection like in games like Xcom and State of Decay. Playing the demo I lost a bunch of people and I couldn't care less. They quickly become just another resource for the player.
Humans are a resource like chickens, except they provide you workers. Especially security know they are expendable. Probably thousands of survivors so realistically losing 20% is acceptable. If they add reproduction you can even start denying survivors entry. In State of Decay was no different really, if you lost ppl you just recruited new ones but the limit was annoying and no fun.

1) No, it's a bug actually. Even If I don't have enough shelters, they will join but they will be dissatisfied. 2) I tested it several times and I am sure they can't. All the Buildings have single entry/exit point, so they can't bypass walls and gates. If buildings had more than one entrances, then securing the area entirely with the walls would definitely be better solution.
I noticed when this happens if you take one of your team infront of them they respond. Also some settlers respond in comms but don't enter in headquarters on their own. You have to go near them even they are staying beside the building of your Hq.
New York city, the last place you ever want to be in the event of a zombie apocalypse, all those congested buildings are likely infested with zombies/infected.
Do not let the zomies gather and attack base together. Look at royal gaming, he is always using one of his team to divert the zombies from attacking the base.He is using cars to do that,this is a very effective way to take away the zombies from the base. Otherwise his base is very vulnerable.

No, the more HQs you have, the more squads you can manage. The bigger the hq building the more squads you get, but be careful as the bigger the building the less likely you can defend unless you have longer ranged weapons as the center of the building is where the troops will be and if you have pistols it is a small area of coverage which means you might not be able to defend. (Although this one could be a glitch for him though)

I have only played the prologue, but i had no glitches, except the car going in circles. LOL

You can dismantle buildings for wood too. It's what you can do in areas with no trees but has a lot of buildings.
