What really slays me in this version is how when she sings with the backing chord in the chorus (rather than the melody), she hits the minor 7th, which gives the overall chord this tension that's just seeking resolution and gives those little moments in the song such a feeling of yearning. It's such a tiny little detail, but it sounds so good and adds so much to the arrangement. Kimbra is such a brilliant talent and artist.

I saw this video, and the rest of the Sing Sing playlist, when it was at about 2,000 views. And suddenly Kimbra has come such a long way. I'm someone who loves the Golden Echo album ( her most recent ), for its creativity and jazz influence, but this style also suits her so well. I find myself in the Sing Sing studio section from time to time, just reliving the time when i first found Kimbra. This set up suits her voice, her performance skills and everything so well, it's a joy to see. And obviously the band are great too.
