Sometimes, it depends on the type of horse you're riding! Horses have different trots as well as different movements. I've noticed it's easier to sit some trots on some horses than others
@@kareemmonzer7894 Normally, the trot does not depend on the breed of the horse. Some horses have a more pleasant trot beat, while others are a lot bouncier and messy. Most times, it's the way the horse was trained to trot.
My mouth has been open this whole video cus not only did you NAIL the concept; you NAILED every mistake I was making 😮💨😮💨😮💨 pray for me! I’m heading back to the stables tomorrow !
Beginner learner here (have been trail riding my whole life but now doing formal lessons) but I love learning the rhythm of the horse while walking. It makes it much easier to get to trot. It was tough to do trot when they’d put me on a different horse that I hadn’t bonded with and/or learned their rhythm.
I am still a beginner, but sitting trot for me is much more natural and easier than canter 😂 my trainer was also in shock, that first time I tried it I was pretty good at it. 😊 I am so proud to myself about it. Canter is a different story, but getring there 😂
@@CDN_Bookmouse thank you, working on it, for me it is more of a psychology problem than psychical one 🤷🏻♀️ I fell multiple times while trying to canter first times, so.. but I am over it and it is slowly coming to me 😊
I used to be so scared of canter too when I was taking lessons in the past. But I always loved riding! So I went looking for a horse owner who needed help with caring for the horse and movement.. and now I ride this horse. It is very nice because you get to know the horse and get used to each other. Now I’m not scared at all
Tucker looks so absolutely adorable with this length mane!!! For sitting the trot I find it helpful to imagine my hip going in an arch or a half circle in front of me, as in left down - forward up - right down - forward up - left down and so on.
Thank you so much, it was so helpful! I've been trying to sit trot for years and I feel like I have gotten no where with it! I'm definitely going to try out these tips! Thanks!
I’ve been riding for 15 years, used to be glued to the saddle all my youth. Ever since my mare got injured 1,5 year ago and I didn’t ride for 9 months (and then fractured my spine and couldn’t ride for another 3 months), I have struggles sit-trotting. Bareback is amazing, my seat is flawless, but in the saddle… I go everywhere. No clue what I do wrong. I’m going to try your tips and see if my seat improves!
I have been working on my sitting trot for years with many teachers and I could not really figure out what I did not do correctly. And this video just totally unlocks that! I tried it once after watching and it just worked! I stopped bouncing and now it just looks still and effortless (but actually my ab still hurts 😂). Now I just have to keep practicing until I can do it long enough for a whole dressage test! One thing though is that, I have somewhat busy legs if I don’t pinch with my knees, so I was wondering if maybe I need to grip more with my inner thighs?
I've been riding for 11 years and this video is very helpful. Sometimes when I pinch with my knees, stirrupless riding forces you to open them up and rely more on your core.
This is so helpful, thank you!! I recently restarted riding lessons after over a decade, and felt like I was being jostled around when my trainer and I reviewed the sit trot. Definitely going to check out more of your instructional videos as I progress!
Brilliant simply brilliant. Older new rider first horse and I struggle with this so much I just bounce. This is a big part of my training routine now BEST Video EVA Eva thx u
actully i used to only sit in trot i have a handicapt wich makes me weaker so i wast be able to by standing and sitting what u normely do i couldt do that i was to weak in my legs but once high school started i started to walk a lot of stairs so my legs would get stronger and eventally i could do standing and sitting in the saddle and i can do it now to so im actully happy i got more strengts
Thank you for this, I didn’t even know that theres different ways to trout, it was so hard for me last year at my camp cause I thought the only way to trout was sitting, hopefully this year I’ll do better as I’m going to be a wit (wrangler in training) so I’m going to muck the stalls and groom the horses, but I also get to ride! Hopefully this helps!!!
can u pls make a video about how to safely ride with outer riding in the ring i start doing group lessons in sep i havent done group in like 3 years lol and have a nice day to
I just randomly found the video while watching another one of yours, and then I noticed that it was uploaded two minutes ago..😅 Also I'm kind of uncertain if I'm sitting the trot correctly, because my instructor says that I'm doing good, but she doesn't know how to do a one rein stop, she's expecting me as a noob in the canter to ride in a full seat and she says that I'm always supposed to grip with my knees.😐
This help's so Mach I tried doing a sitting trot on my stallion and it kind of work but i was bounsing more and I am taking riding lessons but i just started so Ya but I know how to ride I'm very good but I don't know how to do a sitting trot this help's a lot thx so Mach
The way i was tought the movment in the hips i was told to never swing my hip from side to side. It will push the horse of balance. Rather then swing from side to side, push forward instead. That way the horse wil have an easier way to keep yourself and your horse in balance
I noticed each horse has its own rhythm and different trot. Some horses seem smooth and easy to sit, others not so…smaller horses make gentle ripples, larger horses it’s like ocean waves! At first I was taught to move my hips in a zig-zag manner with the horses movement but that worked that for that particular teaching horse…I don’t have my own yet so I ride various horses and when I do the zig-zag it still feel bumpy ( and I worry the bumping would hurt the horse)…where does your seat reside when u sit? I notice it’s smoother towards the back but apparently that may put too much pressure on the horse?
When do you know that you can start cantering? ( I'm asking because I've been on a post trot 12 times and I'm wondering if I should ask my riding teacher to start cantering lessons too )
The best focus for mounted archery is to learn to ride with the seat. You cant control your reins while shooting so learn you horse to ride with you weight and seat
Idk how to do what your saying at .54 seconds I do more western then English and don't remember how to post and never learned 2 point as never did jumping so only did pleasure classes.
How long should it take to learn to canter? I’ve been with a coach for 7 months and all I can do is measure stirrups, walk, trot (not good due to different advice every time), and to dismount. Can someone please advise?
Some trainers take longer then others. So there are trainers like my friends trainor that took 3 years to teach her. I was at a place that litterly wanted to wait 4 years. I moved barns and they got me to canter on the 3rd lesson. I had only been riding for 5 months before then. Sometimes, trainers that take forever are good for some people. As me I like moving faster.
Hello can someone answer me A lot of people tell me that during my period it's dangerous to carry heavy things and the saddle is heavy, Can I saddle a horse during my period? 😅
I've Been riding for 4 years and I've never even breifly sat the trot without making the horse uncomfy from me bouncing so much and slaming down on the back to the point I just gave up beacuse the horse I ride is quite young he hates people bouncing around on his back
Nothing has ever helped me visualize sitting trot until now. I've always been told just to sit and essentially stay in the saddle but that's totally wrong! You can't just sit still in the trot it's not a still or level movement. The horse rises and falls in a bouncing motion, the saddle to so you also should be. Think: Pushing the saddle further up the horse's wither or actually jumping with the horse.
Sometimes, it depends on the type of horse you're riding! Horses have different trots as well as different movements. I've noticed it's easier to sit some trots on some horses than others
Yes, like if your horse has a quick, bouncy, short strides trot it’s going to be a lot morse difficult than if a horse takes long, smooth strides
Very true I found that as well
It also depends on the height
Been struggling with the sitting trot a lot, the horse I'm doing lessons on is an Arabian. Is that a difficult horse to sit-trot with?
