So, i feel like not too many people mention in the nerdy 80s intro, Talesin actually cast a spell, causing Marishas hair to blow, confirm he is actually somehow magical irl.
@@skylaralley2465 I was born in 89 but I could still recognize the 50's aesthetic when I was your age, bud. It should be easier for you since the Internet has been so developed in your time.
yep took me a long time to convince friends to play with me, even then was only a couple times a year. i'd recommend looking for a group online or going to your local stores and trying to find one! It's scary but I recently found a group that's really gelling and fun to play with :)
I think the animated intros are my favourite. Get me so hyped for more Vox Machina, the Mighty Nein that is coming soon, and the inevitable adaptation of Bell’s Hells
This came up on my for you page 3 days after campaign 3 episode 91. And now I'm crying. Bad timing but wow it's just like a snapshot of how time has passed for Critical Role. Thanks for putting it together.
Writing their own theme songs has definitely worked well for them, and the animated openings are top tier IMO. Like, that animated Bells Hells opening is *art*
Just now I realized than in the last one, during the hug scene with FCG, there is 3 frames when Fearne is pitpocketing Ashton, and Orym saw it with his stupid high Passive Perception xD
At 3:06, when Ashley enters the room wearing her glasses, I'm thinking it's a nod to a very old interview she did as a 16-year-old girl (she was voicing Gretchen Grundler in Recess). She's saying, "We're looking like our characters to me. He's looking like Gus (Courtland Mead), Ricky looks like Vince, Andy looks like T.J., and I am starting to look like Gretchen... minus the glasses!"
Ashley played Grechen?! That's awesome, learn something new every day about these guys. After listening to Matt DM for so long I hear him in half the games I play. Fikrul the Fanatic from Destiny, The Huntsman & Field team leader from Monster Hunter World, Core the Immortal from FFXV. Etc
Oh man the OG C1 intro … I remember they also had character backstories that each cast member read but the art’s blurred out for … some reason? They’ve come a long way since Kraghammer.
@@vworpin9945, oh that’s great! I’ll have to see if I can find it. I think it was the episode after they killed K’Varn that I first had a nagging suspicion Acaba wasn’t going to be around.
It's blurred because they had been using some art of their characters that they didn't realize was fan art without permission. So they had to blur it until they either changed the art or got permission to use the art they had
Oh Hells... I don't know all the context for the Animated opening for Campaign 3, But it looked gorgeous to see the characters animated for the opening. That quick flash from Laudna puppeteering Pate to Delila puppeteering Laudna sent chills.
I have to say of all the Critical Role intros , I love the first one from Campaign 3 at it just reminds me of the of an old board game that i played as a kid called Valley Of The Lost Dinosaurs, not to mention the costumes each member of the cast are wearing are incredible.
welcome to the hobby!! :D hope you get to play soon/have been having fun if you have been! always happy to see new CR fans as well hope you're enjoying it
I just realized that, the old intros before the Mighty Nein, they use the same rhythm (0:17) in Your Turn to Roll in the part in 4:17, it took me so long to realize
I think it's funny because he's really strong but when he's dressed as Grog I can't see him as anything else than scrawny 😂 Even a very well built human can't compare to a Goliath lol
“Your turn to roll” is such a good song, and then they went and outdid themselves with “It’s Thursday night”. I haven’t even watched campaign 3 yet (almost done with 1 😅) and I love the animated intro, it’s so epic
It’s missing the OG intros with the character art and the players introducing each character while in character… “If you have ale, then you have a friend in Grog Strongjaw…”
Was it the same as the first just without Robbie's scene? I only wanted to add one of each of the main ones, just so it flowed a little better! Why didn't I add the M9 reunited OP or the ones that changed the characters at the end :)
As DarthSinistris said, they were all voice actors in a similar sphere. Essentially Critical Role came from what originally was a one shot done as a celebration for Liam’s birthday. If you watch their individual interviews on “Between the Sheets” they talk about origins and how they all got together.
Only wanted to add the main version of each! Felt it was too similar tbh (probably would have added it if I made this now since I had forgot how much was changed at the time)
Campaign 3 makes me so sad there was so much potential but it just didn't reach it for me. All of the characters (besides fearne) were so interesting and cool but the story was just half-baked for me. Of course that's just my opinion, I hope C4 has a more independent story not reliant on the other campaigns like C2 was
No intro has ever been better than the second intro of campaign 1. Nothing against the animated intros. They're great, but there's something about them in character costumes that just hits different. Plus the song isn't cringe.
Yes and no, while yeah it could give off that energy it felt like live action version of miniatures in a dnd combat map. The reason why I’m not all for it was because we had to deal with that horrendous rotoscoping one for a few months before they released the animated intro. 😂
I think “It’s Thursday Night” is a terrific song on its own, wonderful lyrics and instrumentation, but the colonialism stint was a bit icky for the region they were in. I don’t mind the rotoscope of the second versionI just wish there were more character aspects to each cause I really like the signature aspect that was a fun touch. And the fully animated version is a solid permanent option that feels fluid and fun without the potential ick factor. Plus it lets them do more like the boat scene, I hope characters like Dorian and Braius get added so it feels up to dat tho.
I completely forgot their first intro had Laura Bailey slinging a dollar store kids' toy bow XD
I adore how low budget it is, just Liam with a scarf on his head lmao
Love that they raided all their renfaire closets (mostly taliesin’s) to make it happen
Even after watching the 4th opening so many times I get chills watching it. It’s so freaking good!
And still looking more badass doing it than I ever would with a real one XD
Your Turn to Roll is easily the best intro out of all of them
It's hands down the best one
Agreeeeeed
Personally it's the second intro for campaign 1
Like the costly angle is so fucking cool
It and "It's Thursday Night" are tied for my favorite.
So, i feel like not too many people mention in the nerdy 80s intro, Talesin actually cast a spell, causing Marishas hair to blow, confirm he is actually somehow magical irl.
i've always loved that detail, the fact it's the only extraordinary thing in the whole intro lmao
I read "magical girl" and was like "yeah, Talesin would totally be a magical girl" 😂
Pyramids always are
Also Marisha elbowing someone next to her, it's definitely the most representative intro of the CR experience 😂
Lol I never thought about that but I love this interpretation :D
The first mighty nein intro will always make me emotional.
Your turn to roll is just so good and iconic
@@abbeybelanger8118 That wasn't the first M9 intro. The first was the live action one where they're in the 70s playing D&D.

Same. The moment they hugged FCG, Oh man...
The live action Vox Machina intro where they are cosplaying as there character’s so far is still my favourite

Completely agree, as much nostalgia as I have for the JCM theme the vocal ones are so catchy!
