Great video as always. You should keep Mickey around permanently. He adds another dimension to the discussion. Thumbs up, Mickey. Anyway, I just recently bought the Schecter C-6 Plus after watching your video and then going to the guitar store. That's my price point. As a bedroom guitarist who works as a cook that guitar suits my needs and is a helluva lot of fun to play. And It's my first Schecter and I love the feel of it.
Jimi Hendrix could make a 99$ Wal-Mart guitar starter pack sound unbelievable. The player makes the guitar. HOLY SHIT, the solo by the guy with hair right before he handed it off was amazing, y'all are both supa 🔥 🔥 🔥
The comment at 04:34 - regarding Schecter guitars sounding and feeling 'heavy'... I totally agree. I have a wide variety of guitars (6, 7 and 8 strings) and by far the heaviest in physical weight is my Shecter Omen 7. Weighs a ton. You can feel that weight in the sound when you crank the amp too, as you described. Nailed it on the head!
I bought this guitar yesterday, ITS AMAZING!! I tried modifying the tone on my amp a little bit, and once you get it just right it sounds AMAZING. Clean sounds are amazing especially with the humbucker split, distortion sounds awesome, great lead sound, Bang for buck people🙌🙌
This was my first guitar. It's super solid. I got mine in a steal $330 USD on Amazon. I felt like the sound was boxy too. Not enough note separation with the e and a strings. But then i threw some 10-52 strings on it and put it in drop C and it came alive
I love Schecter guitars and especially this Omen extreme. I have the vintage sunburst myself. I have not put anything into this guitar but what came with it. It's been played through an Orange crush mini amp due to my living in an apartment setting. I also play in a band so it's been played in clubs to medium sized venues. I just love this guitar. I also have 3 other Schecters.
I own this guitar, a 2008 model, I really like it. It reminds me of a gibson les paul in sound and feel, but with jumbo frets, 25,5" Scale Length, but that actually stays in tune! Doesnt have the same sustain as LP (still good sustain mind you) ,the neck pickup cant sound the same as a 22 fret guitar can, but if you adjust it correctly it can be a good lead tone. It sounds and plays much better than my epiphone standard lp, which has obvious tuning issues and sounds very bright. A lot of guitars that have this deep type of sound (les pauls, sgs) are usually guitars with tuning issues because of the headstock design, so these schecter guitars are a rare find, good for who wants the bridge pickup fat rock tone. You can use the stock pickup for grungy hard rock tones, sludgy metal, although I believe changing the potenciometers for 1M pots would really help. In my case, I kept the 500k pots, swapped the bridge pickup for a seymour duncan distortion, the neck for a jazz, and the sound is very, very good, easily my best sounding guitar. Dont use this guitar with dark pickups, Would wish: A slightly thinner neck, and 22 frets so I can have that classic Lp neck sound. Otherwise i'm pretty happy, definately my favorite rock/metal guitar that I own.
Schecter makes some of the best guitars no matter what price point. I bought a diamond series omen-6 in the mid 2000’s and only paid a little over $250 new. The frets are enormous and are the biggest frets of any guitar I own. I believe it came with Grover tuners (Can’t remember if I changed tuners or they are stock) changed out the plastic nut and swapped pickups for EMG 81,85 also had to file the fret ends. To this day that guitar is my number 1 for playability and only paid $250 for it. I have not checked out their current guitars but if you can pick up a mid 2000’s do it
Nope, many people who really experienced Schecter are fell in love with them. Owning Hellraiser C-1 for 10 years, I'd never trade it for anything. Even now I'm saving up for Ibanez RG Prestige.
Great review guys. Im buying this guitar in the near future. This video view was my research tool. I was leaning towards this one & an Ibanez (both lefties). Mind made up now. Just got to find a shop in adelaide that stocks it. Thanks for a great review guys. Awesome.
Had this one in mind for a while to make an extra addition guitars to fill in that drop D spot , got some strats and LTD EC-256 I would never buy on my own accord it was given to me . Much more happier with the schecter omen 6 extreme for the price, exactly what I was looking for for the price so I can sell my schecter gryphon . Badass video guys!
Dude what $79 - thats ridiculous. Its 2023 and I'm lookin at getting a new one for ~$700 (CAN) unreal deal you got - used or not thats nuts. Was it in good shape?
@@stephanlepage2537 I just bought one yesterday, in see through black.. $679.99 cdn, same price no matter what store I was checking out. I wanted a Hellraiser, but seeing as I'm just getting back into playing, the Hellraiser can wait, especially at $1600....
I have one of these but I sold the pickups off in an Epiphone Explorer I had and fitted a Seymour Duncan Full Shred / Jazz set from a Blackjack SLS. The Blackjack got Bare Knuckle Black Hawks
Much Pug love here! I got one of those super cheap and love it! Put some Tesla Opus-4 pickups in it and it Rocks! The guy had won it and didn't play guitar. Big win for me!!!!
I just bought that same guitar but with the Floyd Rose. I love the look, it's a beautiful guitar! I bought it used and it didn't come with the owners manual.
I like it and guitar center had it on sale for 350 but also has the C-6 Elite on sale for 230. After looked up the specs and the share most essential components like Diamond Plus pickups/rose wood fingerboard/neck profile..etc. I bought the C-6. right now they have the blue and the magenta color on sale for 300. They are happy most with heavy sounds, you are right. The rosewood has fine grain and the extra jumbo frets are mirror shine and smooth like butter. Thanks for sharing.
They also have the Omen Extreme S-II, basically the same guitar and price point, except with more of an SG-style body (albeit with one horn taller like a Strat). Couple other little differences, it only has one volume knob, which Henning said he prefers in the video. Also the neck is still bolt-on, but it doesn't have that plate back there, and it's much more rounded off, so you've got a little easier upper fret access.
Great guitar, ive had mine almost 5 years and played it stock for quite awhile even though i normally upgrade everything in sight as soon as i get a guitar. Eventually i did upgrade the pickups for a set of JB/59's and the bridge for a locking tone pros and the tuners for locking chrome open back hipshot tuners etc. But again that wasn't cause i felt i really needed to i just enjoy playing this guitar so much i couldn't help but to put a little more money into it to really have it shine and become even more versatile. I found it much more versatile then Henning but i use my volume and tone controls like mad and considering theres two volumes and a push pull tone for coil split you can really get a ton of different sounds. When i switched out the pups i rewired it to have the push pulls on each volume pot so i could split the neck and bridge separate from one another which has turned into my favorite feature. In the middle position with one split and the other in HB mode it sounds really spanky or fat depending on which you have split. Anyways over all this is a really great guitar. The only downside is the cheesy name "Extreme" lol but trust me anyone who can play well and set up a guitar will find this guitar to be very inspiring and comfortable to play. I have the see thru black version and that with the maple neck and rosewood fret board looks great. They recently released and blue and purple version that look good also if thats more your speed. Anyways just thought id thrown in my 2 cents cause if you dont have a ton to spend and want a quality guitar i highly recommend it. If you buy a big brand guitar at this price your getting their bottom of the barrel guitars but with Schecter having lower price to higher quality ratios it really doesnt make sense to me to buy a shitty guitar with a Fender or Gibson logo when i could have a solid guitar with some cool features that inspires me to play with a logo that says "I didnt have a ton of money to spend but i buy smart and I take my playing seriously".
I have the electric magenta extreme omen 6. Bought it yesterday should i keep or get a limited edition acoustic I've been looking for and get the omen later. It was 100 dollars off so 300
Due to your review I bought one last night at reverb for a bargain of 250 euros incl. shipping to Germany ... can't wait to get this beauty. Thanks for the review guys!
my only guitar is 2011 Schecter Omen Extreme, the blue one. this guitar always stay in tune and the tuners are smooth, maybe Graphtech really helps at it. the neck feels great, even it's a glossy neck, it doesn't feel sticky at all. the only thing I have about this guitar is no arm contour, so I'm in love-hate relationship with my only guitar.
I have a mitchill md 200 with just a white body the neck has no sharp frets after a complete set up it plays and sounds good you really don't need all the eye candy it's your dedication that will make you play better however I had to change the bridge pickup.
Thanks for all the honest reviews of guitars at all price points. I’m mostly interested in $500 USD and below but do enjoy seeing you try out the high end stuff too. Your HB upgrade video is still one of my faves. I may have missed it, but whatever happened to your signature model?
@@EytschPi42 hello , nice video I watched it over and over ....what guitar would you recomand from schecter to fill the gaps that you were talking about , no punch in the middle , not a very good high end...etc .Thanks ! And only schecters please 🤘🤘🤘,and no braking the bank🤘😂
The stock pickups are good for dark, deep and sludgy tones. I swapped the pickups on my Omen 6 Extreme for Seymour Duncan Distortion and SH-2 Jazz, the guitar now sounds A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. Dont get pickups any darker than the SD Distortion, it really needs bright pickups but it shines so much there. The dark sound actually comes from the wood, the stock pickups are neither bright or dark, this guitar just needs bright pickups to really shine and boy does it ever shine. This is very much like a Les Paul feel, and sounding guitar, but with a 25,5" scale, jumbo frets, even thicker neck than the epi lps, but with a unique feature on these type of sounding guitars... IT STAYS IN FUCKING TUNE.
I am a big fan of schecter, for the value verses price point I think they have settled into a sweet spot with some of there 400 to 800 offerings. I currently use an omen 6 extreme fr as one of my main guitars but that’s because the tone and feel fit what I like to play and i am not a “metal” player. This isn’t a shredder guitar, it can play some metal but it’s not a metal guitar really either. It’s a solid hard rock guitar and may even lean into a contemporary sound. If you want a lot of glistening on your speed demon runs it won’t do that but it does do almost everything a classic guitar “hero” might want to do. If you want to dig into it you can get a good raunchy hard rock rock rhythm and good lead tones but to me it’s best for staying a bit shy of that particular if comparing to some Ibanez or Jackson’s which have a bit flatter neck radius so are “faster” pick a little cleaner. Since that’s not my style of playing I don’t really fault the guitar for not being able to do it. That’s not what it’s built for. In my opinion it is very versatile in what it can do. The looks contrast with the personality. Whenever choosing any instrument it’s best to match what it does with what you do. It’s versatile and can pull off a tone of tones well but for under 700 or more I would put it up against some Strats that cost twice as much and I will make some enemies by saying I think it is a better overall guitar than many PRS SE models. Couple weeks back I played with a fusion jazz outfit and despite looking out of place among the classically styled jazz instruments it held its own. But stuff like old Van Halen, deep purple and hard classic rock it finds its feet. I would not recommend to metal players as is it can be modified for not too much more and fit that genre well but to me if that’s your thing and you want that tone and playing experience just buy the shred machine that’s what they are made for. Same with thrashy fast metal rhythm just buy the guitar that does that . My back ground are les Paul’s, teles and Strats so coming from that end I like that it is a little raunchier when coaxed but can still settle into my familiar sweet spot. By no means my most expensive and it’s certainly not my best equipped but it doesn’t need to be because it’s fun to play and does what I ask of it all without having to jack up my insurance premium every time I bring it to a gig.
@@Supperconductor Thanks for that! Yeah, kinda guessed they were going to be "hot". The old Schecter I have has pickups running at around 17! Too damn "hot" but, rolling off the tone a little calms them ;-)
Is it just the video, or is this guitar really so bright in real life? On official photos it's a lot darker, but on this video it's like candy red color. What a shame if that's true, i was thinking about ordering it online in red color, but now i'm not so sure about red.
I would think people coming to RUclips for guitar reviews and research are probably beginners searching out the right first guitar for them. That's why I'm here and many of the comments I read are usually from people doing the same.
This was an absolutely awesome watch! Informative but entertaining at the same time, I'll be purchasing this bad boy next payday!! EDIT: Following up, I bought the 7 string version and had a set of Bareknuckle Juggernauts installed. Drop the low B down to an A and good god this thing is a MONSTER to play!(in a good way haha) it's a brilliant workhorse guitar and you more than get your money's worth.
I had this guitar back in 2009, it was quite heavy, and the neck had a twist. For the price, it was a cool guitar, and I liked it. However, it didn't have a veneer, I removed some paint - it was a simple sticker over the body, not a veneer. I have also replaced the bridge with a Wilkinson roller bridge. If you ask me... look for a used Japanese Jackson dinky - it's an insanely good guitar for the price.
My first real guitar of quality was my schecter omen 6 perfectly setup unlike any of the competitors including fender. I swapped out the stock pickups with a used set of emg 89r 81tw which are split coil emgs for 100$ but honestly the stock pickups sounded great. Just last month I upgraded from my Jackson jss 227 to a schecter kieth marrow km-7 mk-ii which has fishman pickups honestly doesn't sound or feel that much different than my omen 6 dispite the $1000 price difference.
You two again. Your bankrupting me. Do flutes or something

Please?
that's one of the new ones, right?
@@EytschPi42 Yes new with our friend Mr. Sustainiac.
@@EytschPi42 Yes, there's barely any review on them. What's your recommendation for a 800/1000€ guitar for metal?
So this was a good video. I found it a week or so ago, and then bought one of these Omens in blood burst.
I have the blue omen, they did last year '18. Its just like this. I love it, it's so METALLLL!!!!!!!
Do you also have a Review for the Schecter Reaper 6?
Please do a review of the Demon 6 FR :D
Due to your review I bought one last night at reverb for a bargain of 250 euros incl. shipping to Germany ... can't wait to get this beauty. Thanks for the review guys!
Maybe you should drop the pickups?
my only guitar is 2011 Schecter Omen Extreme, the blue one.
this guitar always stay in tune and the tuners are smooth, maybe Graphtech really helps at it.
the neck feels great, even it's a glossy neck, it doesn't feel sticky at all.
the only thing I have about this guitar is no arm contour, so I'm in love-hate relationship with my only guitar.
Can flyod Rose be done in this guitar??
Pls say
Yes I'm looking to buy one
They make a model called “research omen extreme-6 FR” this one is the same but with the floyd rose
There is a floyd rose model
I have a mitchill md 200 with just a white body the neck has no sharp frets after a complete set up it plays and sounds good you really don't need all the eye candy it's your dedication that will make you play better however I had to change the bridge pickup.
Agreed, the pickups is a bit too dark, but it is a good pickup, just a bit too dark.
schecter demon-6 review ?
Love the pug shirt, where can I buy one??
Mrgugu...link is under the video
Schecter omen or Harley benton amorak??
will it work well with D tuning and drop C?
Thanks for all the honest reviews of guitars at all price points. I’m mostly interested in $500 USD and below but do enjoy seeing you try out the high end stuff too. Your HB upgrade video is still one of my faves. I may have missed it, but whatever happened to your signature model?
Coming in a few weeks...
I think the pickups could do with being swapped, but it looks great.
You guys are a riot!!! I subscribed to your channel... I Like you two... I ordered one of these for $299.00 U.S.
*Simple!! Those are Schecter humbuckers. Not EMG. The high-end Schecters come with an 81 in the bridge placement.*
I would love love love this with a factory-installed Sustainiac.
Maybe let us know what the output of the pickups are?
FWIW, the reviews at Thomann say they are “hot”.
@@Supperconductor Thanks for that! Yeah, kinda guessed they were going to be "hot". The old Schecter I have has pickups running at around 17! Too damn "hot" but, rolling off the tone a little calms them ;-)
A nice guitar for the money. Looks sharp. And yes, it is made for metal in D drop. Thanx again Henning and Mickey. Animaux à la fin.
where can I get that shirt with the dog on it? please!! I want that shirt!!!
Which amp and pedal is it you are using?
Vicious kitty at the end, so adorable!
Is it just the video, or is this guitar really so bright in real life? On official photos it's a lot darker, but on this video it's like candy red color. What a shame if that's true, i was thinking about ordering it online in red color, but now i'm not so sure about red.
Now I know what mr bean would look like if he had long hair and a beard and I love it
Henning: "...they don't know me, they don't trust me..."
Me: *sees dog, instantly trusts him*.
I would think people coming to RUclips for guitar reviews and research are probably beginners searching out the right first guitar for them. That's why I'm here and many of the comments I read are usually from people doing the same.
Is it maroon or red? Do tell , I see a difference in every damn video.
Red. I bought one.
If you ask me... look for a used Japanese Jackson dinky - it's an insanely good guitar for the price.
billy corgan?
How will it sound with Boss Katana 50???
21:17 what song is that?
Gabriel FDZ sultans of swing with a ton of gain I think
My first real guitar of quality was my schecter omen 6 perfectly setup unlike any of the competitors including fender. I swapped out the stock pickups with a used set of emg 89r 81tw which are split coil emgs for 100$ but honestly the stock pickups sounded great. Just last month I upgraded from my Jackson jss 227 to a schecter kieth marrow km-7 mk-ii which has fishman pickups honestly doesn't sound or feel that much different than my omen 6 dispite the $1000 price difference.
