what an incredible add on for davinci. i think the film compression option is the best bit within the software.. completely saves the highlights like a film stock. could you make a video on your camera settings setup? what you have mapped to the buttons etc. !!
Yeah it’s really cool! Need to dive deeper into it, I was sort of just experimenting for this video, it’s probably a lot more powerful than it looks (I’m a bit of a noob at grading to be honest) And yes it’s in the works, just trying to find the time at the moment life is real busy, but it’s definitely on my to do list 😊
really curious about that fisheye! gotta agree with you on the autofocus man but at the end of the day, the thing is a photography beast so definitely looking at XT5s for hybrid shooting
Fisheye vid coming soon when I get the time! Middle of wedding season at the moment so things are hectic haha. But I’ll be pushing a TON of videos out towards the end of the year when I have more time to film 🤘🏻 Xt5 looks awesome, not had a chance to get my hands on one yet though! I find the Sonys hard to beat when it comes to video to be honest, even though they’re boring as hell to use haha
This was the most helpful video that I’ve seen about recording on the x100v so far. Thank you so much for this! I don’t seem to have a problem recording since the gimbal I have works well with it but you made an amazing video from what I saw 😂 also learned a lot from your editing that I’m sure I can emulate on premiere pro. Would love if you did a video on your setting for this camera and more editing videos also. I’m talking a lot but thanks ✌🏾🙏🏾🍾
great video and the color grading was insightful. I do have some questions though. You mention the terrible (auto)focus functions when shooting video with the X100V. How did you still manage to get your shots looking focussed? That's what's bugging me when I use mine to film. It just focusses like a loose canon out of control. Rendering the footage not really useful..
Most of my footage was shot at a higher f stop like 5.6 or 8 (from memory) so almost everything was in focus anyway, but it did hunt a lot when at f2 or f2.8, I just didn’t use any of that footage in the final edit :)
Thanks for the reply @@EddyMaynard Yeah I find this to be an important subject matter as it kind of makes/breaks what one wished to achieve with the X100V. So Im trying to gather as much tips as possible regarding this alongside experimenting with it myself. Finding the 'sweet spot(s)' focus wise are a challenge when in video mode with this cool camera.
@@EddyMaynardyes its definetly cool. It makes the gr ii/iii to a 21mm. The only problem i have with it with the x100v is that it slightly misfocuses at f 2. Do you have the same problem with your conversion lense?
Are there any alternative cameras I can buy for video making like this instead of buying x100v? I am going to be using dehancer..x100v is extremely expensive .. any inexpensive pocket-friendly portable cameras aout there for making this film style cinema videos using flog and then using dehancer?
Hello, yes! Dehancer works with literally any camera. For filmmaking id reccommend a blackmagic pocket cinema camera, they’re fairly cheap and specs are great for their price range
It’s a different thing, Dehancer is a plug-in and davinci is a standalone program. I’d say for straight up colour grading the default controls in davinci are better, but Dehancer offers a great solution for getting that ‘film look’. Worth noting too that you can actually get Dehancer as a plug-in FOR davinci so you can get the best of both worlds. Hope this helps!
Bro, I have been *dying* to see this for a while. Well done
Glad you enjoyed the video!!
Best x100v channel for beginners like me 📸
Thanks so much, I appreciate that! 🙏
I've had the X100V for ages and have never flipped it into the video mode, this is so interesting! Shout out to Dehancer!
Eddy, thanks for such a fascinating video! Awesome grading! We are eager to answer any questions 😃
No problem! Thank you! 😊

Footage is dope! Really nice to see your process 👌
Thanks very much 🙏🏻

glad it helped! will probably be doing some more content on filmmaking soon :)
this is amazing
thank you!
Your gimbal is shaking because you have to reconfigure the motors in your app. The motors are power balanced to your previous camera.
Hey! I rebalanced in the app, the setup is just too light unfortunately!

It can do 10 bit if you output to a recorder, such as a Ninja V
That's really cool, I didn't know that! thanks
I thought im the only one with a x100v "fisheye". Sometimes Im using my ricoh gr ii conversion lense (0.75) on the 28 mm conversion lense.
That’s cool I didn’t know the gr had one of those!

am i the only one not getting focus peaking during video mode? cant seem to get it even in manual
why you didn't want to use receipts for video too ? F-log on this camera is only 8 bit..
because I was grading the footage in Dehancer so it needed to be shot in log :) but yes, 8 bit is not ideal!
Try the anomorphot40
Not heard of that but it looks pretty cool, ill look into it a bit more, thank you!
Is Dehancer worth it over Davinci?

Great video! I think if you really need to use the x100v for video it can do okay. That being said people shouldn't get it as a vlog camera
Thank you! Yeah I fully agree. Loads better (and smaller) options for vlogging!
I’ve been shooting several videos on my X100V,
Check my channel to see some of the videos shot solely shot on X100V,
Cheers on this video mate Eddy!
