Someone put in a comment in steam that this game will be a lot easier to understand if it had the turn preview of monster train to know exactly what is going to happen. But the people on steam putting negative reviews just for the game being difficult are really out of their mind because that can be easily fixed.
Can't believe you pulled a victory after only 8 (-1 you trashed, so technically 7) runs. Mad respect. Also mad respect for not dunking on this game because of its difficulty like a lot of people are doing on steam. You are awesome.
It makes sense, after all spirit got trapped in vase instead of possesing hero, but it is a bit of shame we didn't get to see how the team would look after conversion.
Well played! That run not becoming the boss of your next one makes sense from both a story perspective (Gnodust threw the Lumen Vase to block the corruption), and from a mechanics perspective (if you have a run that can beat the super ultra omega hard final boss, it could be near impossible for a new run to beat the corrupted version).
I’ve been watching your channel for a long time. Thank you for your incredibly entertaining daily uploads and for always sharing your thought process along the way. Keep ‘em coming ❤️
i beat this last boss and tried a normal run (without bells), and u fight the frost guardian as it was for the first time, and then after beating that, youll get, again, ascended. Havent tried doing triple bell difficulty after beating the last boss though
Congrats on the win. I wished that the game had a better ending besides the vase just blocking the eye from taking control of your character again, such as an ending where all the snow melts for good, your character comes back in one piece, and everyone in the village celebrates with a big party all through the night, instead of showing the vase back in its home, going to the end credits, and just reseting everything back to square one. Also adding to that, I can tell that the game has some secrets and puzzles that they want you to figure out yourself, but coming from a background who isn't great at solving puzzles and/or finding secrets, I most likely would need a guide to get through that part of the gameplay. As long as I know "get X time in Y location," I can usually get through the rest of the time on my end, since I don't want to be scrathing for 3 days trying to figure out what to do next. I get enough puzzles from playing zelda in the game. Currently, the reviews all over the place, but I know it's too common that when a game comes out, you have people that hate it for x mechanic, and other people saying that like it and say "don't believe with the other group is saying." Problem is that most people are new to these types of games like me and I don't think I would have the time and patience to sit through 30+ runs in these types of games to see what I have to do to beat it. (My current run, being my first one, is sitting at 3 hours right now.) Anyway, I said enough. Congrats on the win, Retro, and if you continue playing the game or not, I look forward to the next roguelike deckbuilder game you show in the future.
I think that canonically, by beating this fight, you stop the wildfrost. The sun, and the world, are both defrosted in the end credits. I would like a scene of everybody celebrating the end of the eternal winter though.
Glad you finally noticed the sun charm! You were deciding who to put it on and got distracted by turning on the AC. I guess when you came back you just forgot about it.
Retromation, you're crazy. I played 20 hours and only managed to defeat the boss once. But holy crap, I'm very very sure you're so far the only one who completed the game.
The mind controlled hero got me good. He has 4 Teeth, 4 soulburn + 2x frenzy... >:( For reals though, I enjoy the the challenge of this game (coming from Slay the Spire A20). But the frustration factor is very high for some of the bosses (especially the teeth theme)...Would recommend the devs to implement a casual mode (and the option to reset the villian at the end!) to lower the barrier to entry for newcomers.
The unmovable debuff is the most backbreaking thing ever, but i gotta commend the devs' planet-sized balls for designing that fight in that way no matter how excruciating, on the surface looks so much more interesting than the heart from slay the spire with loads of potential for how to counter them cuz there's 6 different units, essentially 6 different layered options to burst, cc, kite, etc. i also got absolutely eaten alive the 1st time i ran into these mofos, prolly gonna be a long journey of discovery before i get to actually put em in the dirt hahaha awesome final fight sir!
Consider: Instead of naming it the Fixed Vase, just start naming it after patrons. Don't name the fixed version anything, of course. Just exclusively the broken vase
Technically 6, Eas and Lanstone were runs I threw away because A) Eas was an unfinished run from the let's try I scrapped. B) Lanstone was because I wanted to play Clunkmasters but he had Barrage and my boss had spikes so I trashed a run to reroll.
Hey new viewer here! This is my first foray into the deck building genre, would you consider making a bit of a tips & tricks video? Or some kind of guide as to how to play this game better? I have almost 2 pages full of dead leaders and only 1 final boss kill xD
Any idea if you plan to continue the series past this point? I would personally love to see it, as its far better than my own gameplay, but unsure as to your own plans on this game in particular. Also, I feel inclined to let you know that now, when I play in my own runs, whenever I see a Gobling, I hear your voice. "Greed? Do I greed it?" every time.
Bom would've ensured that all attacks would do at least 1 damage. So those times his hand was clogged with Junk? He practically had a bunch of Scrap Swords he could've used to chip away at the bosses' Block and Scrap.
im like two weeks behind on this playlist bc i was catching up on brotato, so youve probably already tried this, but im really interested in the idea of Lumin on a Gobling
Would you mind sharing what the reward for the Sunbringer challenge is? I haven't found it anywhere else and you're the only person who I know has beaten it. (You scrolled all the way to the right in the challenge stones area but didn't hover over the charm)
So I managed to beat the heart of the storm and vanquish the Wildfrost and you didn't mention that it makes the card unable to be recalled. Now I know I guess.
Just got to the heart of the storm myself, but I absolutely wiped Glad to see there isn't a second phase, even if it is a bit of an unceremonious end lol..
blunky needs a buff.he only does 1 damage after 2 turn.and fizzle does 3x3 damage after two turn and apply bomblets.blunky needs damage boost or get block after kill.
Your team was so busted i also was expecting a boss to appear on the last stage. I guess you either die at the hand of the boss, or live long enough to became one.
I think Blunky's ability only triggers once, when he's deployed. After that, the card reads like he's just a 1/1 with 2 cooldown. I don't know for sure though, because I'm just a casual who's only experience with the game is through youtubers like you. It just seems to me like it's a bad card without charms, but it could be busted with charms.
Blunky can already be good on its own by reciclying him after he takes a hit. A better woodhead of sorts. But for sure gets better with charms considering his low cooldown.
Judging by the Steam reviews, you're the only person in the known universe who's got to the final boss, let alone beat it.
certainly can't be true, but I'll take it
@@Retromation game is insanely hard for the untrained. I spent a whole day playing and still haven't gotten to the 2nd boss.

Reto has 1600 IQ he just hide it under the pretense of game enjoyer
@@SteamedBunX doesnt seem any more difficult than others in the genre.

When the backseating got to him, he didn't get mad... He got good.
Reto Stratego, coming to theaters June 22nd.
On top of that, to be fair, I've only ever _lost_ one run, and it was because I made an extremely overpowered boss lol
@@Retromation Just goes to show you're the true boss
@@Retromation You are a great gamer and a great youtuber.
It is really fun game. Sometime it is not fair due to randomness but feels so good if you can get out of that alive.
I know you don’t like backseats, but the cool thing about bom barrage is all of the junk now deals 4 damage.
It makes sense, after all spirit got trapped in vase instead of possesing hero, but it is a bit of shame we didn't get to see how the team would look after conversion.
Oh, horrifying, certainly.

Damn, he really beat the heart and didn’t realize he picked up the keys along the way. Truly a Slay the Spire moment
He already realized how that mecanic works in the last episode though :)
I’ve been watching your channel for a long time. Thank you for your incredibly entertaining daily uploads and for always sharing your thought process along the way. Keep ‘em coming ❤️
couldn’t wait for this one after i found the other episodes and this channel a couple days ago :D
According to the steam reviews it seems like you are a certified God Gamer Retro, congratulations!
I think beating the final boss cycles back because your hero never turns evil/gets "Ascended"! Because you caught the spirit in the vessel instead!
i beat this last boss and tried a normal run (without bells), and u fight the frost guardian as it was for the first time, and then after beating that, youll get, again, ascended.

I’d say the boss gets weaker each time you fight him so its like their wearing down, but yeah this game is hard

awesome final fight sir!
Man i swear i underestimated the brain power this game took. I killed the last boss only 2 times and now im stuck
Hey nicely done man, I’m loving this series
Fantastic run, and fantastic game. I'm really enjoying this series.
Amazing series I hope this lasts a while, and the longer episodes aren’t that bad pretty
Making a tough game look fun and manageable 🙂👍
Wow you removed and moved a crown? That makes things more interesting! 😁
Who would win:
-The combined forces of the winter storm in the form of a highly specialized team that covers all strategies possible
-a kid and a fox
After beating that final boss, the game was like, "...Yeah, that's an unwinnable fight waiting to happen. Reset!"
The amount of anxiety you give me ignoring the ice boxes and ice lantern in the Krunker fight hurts me
what a shame that it killed the run... oh wait
Consider: Instead of naming it the Fixed Vase, just start naming it after patrons. Don't name the fixed version anything, of course. Just exclusively the broken vase
youre insane at this game!!!!
i binged this whole thing in a day and it's been a blast
What a run! Also final boss in 8? What a gamer. What. A. Gamer.

B) Lanstone was because I wanted to play Clunkmasters but he had Barrage and my boss had spikes so I trashed a run to reroll.
im suprised this was the (current) final boss. I was expecting a whole new ark after this
Wanted to see this team as an ennemy, but congrats on your win!
I think you are the best rouge like player on earth, im not sure what divine apostle granted you gaming prowess to defeat the final boss in 8 tries
Thanks for fighting it Reto
I would really love to see a shroom build some day
That frenzy wrench in the last shop could have been nuts with bom barrel. Not that there was a need for anymore bom haha
Bro got the AC unit that makes you forget

had luck with the aimless that he did not attack your leader :D
I wonder what would have happened if you didn't have the repaired Lumin Vase at the end?
You then don't get the fight
The final boss fight will not unlock. The hero will get possessed and turn into the frost guardian after defeating it.
Muncher to yeet scrap would had been nice, but the charm was lucky enough too
you are so fxxking pro!!!
thanks for the video

I think the 3rd charm gives you more items in the pool itself not more choices per chest.
Foxee, bae in beta, still a bae after release.
Krunkers first form always does 8 damage, and it’s nasty as all hell. I call it the newb-slayer.

Spark - Trigger effect of card the moment you play it.
As in: When you play a unit, their effect happens regardless of their counter once, right away.
@@seeamoebe Thanks, I was wondering what it was.
So I managed to beat the heart of the storm and vanquish the Wildfrost and you didn't mention that it makes the card unable to be recalled.

Also I would love to see a spore run if you get a starter with it I have yet to see it really used
I wonder what the bad ending with the jailers would be, if you don't have the jar. Or are the jailers exclusive to having the jar hmmmn
If you’re still wondering, they are only jar exclusive. The emperor shade runs away after the regular final boss because you have the jar
Just got to the heart of the storm myself, but I absolutely wiped
Glad to see there isn't a second phase, even if it is a bit of an unceremonious end lol..
Nvm, my leader just single handedly beat them all with a 12x flamewater barrage and constant shells
woop woop
fixed vase strats

In the second boss you should've yunk the boss to the front. The game allow that.
So, I haven't the game myself yet (sadly) but doesn't one of the buttons in the top right help with turn order?
Does anyone have timestamps of when the lumin vase was fixed / when the bits for it were picked up?
What does the Sunbringer charm do?
THAT is the ending?!?

can you rename all the cards? how about naming some of the cards after your patreons?
How are you starting with a crown on the pets?
the hard mode bells
Nice
Just saying the titan bell is saying bosses and most of them are mini bosses

It's the glowing treasures that have more options.
Or not
