His rap is fine but it doesn’t mix well in the song. Its a hype up song and his calm voice and little instrumentals completely kills the energy

Idk why but I am torn between which version is better ya know🤦♀️!?
I mean, yeah…the jid one is freaking awesome, with all the flow switches and such(chef’s kiss😚)!?
But then of course theres that last little “rap” bit towards the end of this one to consider. Which was (IMO) just as awesome and also quite unexpected really.
And so, after having considered all of this I have come to the conclusion that…I still haven’t got a god damn clue which is better FFS 😅‼️

Nah J.I.D is more complex and this one is more easy to sing. But in my opinion J.I.D is better
I honestly think this one’s better simply because of the message the solo has. It’s basically an apology to those who you can’t see eye to eye with for siding with those with a noble cause, notably the LGBTQ community. And honestly just because I’m so passionate about this song as a whole, I might as well go more in depth to it
“Pray it away’” Some religions frown upon LGBTQ+ rights, and tell people from a young age to ‘pray the gay away’
“I swear I’ll never be a saint, no way, a chair in the corner is the place I stay” A reference you young children being but in ‘timeout’ for misbehaving.
“Love is embracement, love is a constant, love is a basis” the idea of LGBTQ+ in general are all about loving who you want to love and being proud of it.
“He cannot be, she cannot be, they cannot be changed” The holy trifecta of default pronouns /j
TL;DR, The rap part is about supporting gay rights.

I was in the car with my dad and he turned on the radio. I almost screamed when I heard this song was on the radio. I was confused when I realized it was a different version than the JID one. I didn’t realize it was a Solo/radio edit song until a few minutes ago (yeah, ik… I’m slow lol-)

The way this version is, makes it sound like a song. As much as I love the J.I.D version, this version gives me a lot more Imagine vibes. Especially with the added rap. This version isn't about Jinx or the show. This is about overcoming two faced people, your enemies, and those that think love can be changed. I mean come on, "he cannot be, she cannot be, they cannot be changed". Screams LGBTQ+ representation to me

Yeah, overcoming internal and external enemies. Also the line "but keep on prayin" also points towards it, and "pray it away" like "pray the gay away". I think it can be about both, which shows how great the lyrics are
