In 2019 I had a 2015 Golf in cherry red… (keep in mind I’m 16 at time) I was driving down the highway when a semi merged into my lane without signals I had to swerve and I hit the concrete barrier head on and all I can remember was airbags and glass I walked out the car and people gasped that I got out, I now have a 2020 Volkswagen Jetta in orange with PLAID interior.
Totaled mine too in a head on collision with a street racer who was traveling 60+ mph wrong way in my lane( In a parking lot) My car was doing about 5mph and was thrown 40 feet backwards, did 3 spins, and I had no injuries whatsoever.
Those Mexicans in Puebla know how to assemble them right over here in North America, they been Building Volkswagens for the American Market for decades compared to other auto brands getting their models built in Mexico, my point, Built in Wolfsburg, China or Mexico, they're all solid.
Took 60mph collision to my driver side door from an older Tacoma. Walked away basically unscathed. Car is so safe. The head movement between the air bags is actually optimal because it’s not about what you hit but the deceleration of mass that kills you. :)
Both earn good ratings in five crashworthiness tests. The 2015-21 Golf earns an acceptable rating in the passenger-side small overlap crash test. The 2014-18 Mazda 3 hatchback wasn't evaluated in that test, so we can't provide a comparison. The Mazda 3's headlight offerings performed better than those of the Golf.
From what I could tell was that the Mazda 3 is somewhat safer in terms of minimal dashboard movement, but you would be just as safe in either car. I daily this GTI and my sister drives the Mazda 3. Both have been pretty reliable.
I own a 2019 Volkswagen Golf R. Do the crash test ratings for small/moderate overlap front, side, rear, and roof strength apply to this vehicle as well? I was under the impression that the GTI and Golf R are structurally identical even though the GTI is produced in Mexico while the Golf R is produced in Germany. Also, would the GTI’s Acceptable headlight rating in autobahn trim also apply to the Golf R as the R is also equipped with the same LED headlights?
There was a crash 8 months ago that looked exactly like this. Driver hit a telephone pole at 40+ mph and the pole didn’t break. There were never any updates on the crash but there was a clear dashcam vid
I wish I could post a picture . One crashed in front on our house at 50-70 Took out a telephone pole then hit our massive pick up truck . Luckily we had a metal bumper .
No. They take measurements from the equipment inside the dummy that simulates actual injury. If the number is high its a fail in this case even with the dummies head sliding off the airbag injury was minimal and was given a passing score.
The Golf line up had historically been known to be a safe car. Read forums and posts on RUclips from people in major accidents being ok. Don't let the size of the car fool you. It's a safe car.
Good question. A lot of times we need some specific package or trim to perform other tests (headlights, front crash prevention), so we're able to use the same vehicle for crash tests.
Front overlap crashes never look good, but the car seems to have performed well. The passenger cell stayed rigid and there was not any major deformation or bending of the frame. The wheel, while it did cause deformation to the door, was mostly stopped by the firewall and did minimal deformation to the footwell of the car. It is unlikely that the footwell would have been crushed enough to cause substantial injury
that headlight was like 'ight ima head out' 😂
Very safe car. I sadly totaled mine last year, and had no injuries whatsoever. Got me a Golf R afterwards

I smashed mine aswell and got a gtd haha
I feel bad for the person who has to clean up this mess every time a crash is done
I mean its their job
I'd love to be that person it would be amazing seeing tests way before others
its probably cool. Seeing all kinds of random parts and trying to figure out wher they came from. DUmb ass
It’s a robot
would take a few minutes for the bigger debris, but these places have central vacs to suck up the rest. besides the towing is done automatically
Kinda wild that 20lb battery just flies out the front like that
Thinking the same thing
If you watch other car makes all the batteries fly out🙄
Obligatory "in Poland we call that parking scratch" comment.

Um, every iihs tested car is scrapped after testing
except they still let the pillar move. very rediculous.

This vw golf or Mazda 3 (2014-2019), which is safer?

1st Q: Yes
2nd Q: No
Yes
Actually, the entire Golf line comes out of Wolfsburg, Germany. The only Golf that's assembled in Mexico for the U.S. Market is the Golf wagon.
@@arc77fordo29 actually no, all mk7 golf and GTI for NAR are Mexican. Only the r is German.
Bro is that a GTI engine?
Yes they testing a GTI???
Why is this just now getting so much attention?

Interesting to see your own car being crash tested...
Why have they removed the headrest?
This is so sad 😞
That it does well?
No it doesn't
That doesn’t look safe, his head almost misses airbag completely
That did downgrade the kinematic ratings to acceptable but that alone isn't enough to downgrade the overall rating.
Elantra ve focustan daha iyi.
How can you call this save? This is so bad… volvo and tesla are save
tesla did worse and this is a good rating btw
You think because the dummy’s head went in between the airbags it would be rated acceptable
No. They take measurements from the equipment inside the dummy that simulates actual injury. If the number is high its a fail in this case even with the dummies head sliding off the airbag injury was minimal and was given a passing score.

for a better view of what happens in the car!
why not just crash the base model

They had to drive very slow to pass this test. Ive s een too many GTis cut in half by softwood trees to believe this shoot

Still got a good rating
fun fact it is the test of 2015 and uploaded in 2014????? 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

If you know anything about cars this is how model years work
