A few things. First, you can definitely warp audio in Audio tracks. Second, you can also record both audio and Midi at the same time to audio tracks if someone prefers that workflow. Just select the Audio and Midi track in the Track View by holding shift and arm the tracks. Lastly, anything recorded in Audio tracks can be brought into the sampler if you want later, they show up as samples in the list of audio files. So if you want to chop, etc you can and still have the Audio track playing. I use that to warp some vocals on top of an already playing vocal track for harmonies.
From our time using the mp, or even the sp, we were all wired up. 8 input/output cables, patch bays. We had no visual references/gui, so I feel where Jermaine was coming from, and you nailed it Ave on your explanation brother ✊🏾

Good video, but JD missed the fact that every “recording” and/or audio track is saved in your sample pool. So the audio track is able to be edited, chopped, flipped how you want. You just have to go to sample edit and scroll around. It’s in there. You can save to a drm program and warp, pitch, mute from there.
🫨🫨🫨 this whole time I’ve been recording to the sampler, click edit then tempo chopping it to a program. This method is faster but similar results. I hope JD watched this video and reach out to you for more tips my guy

Dude, great video!!! I first learned of you since the Benn Jordan MPC gate thing. Since then I’ve enjoyed a number of your vids but so far definitely got the most value out of this one.
I want to make a comment on the time stamp at 11:59 @AveMcree and I know that I am late to respond, but you are right about not able to mute the audio track, but you can definitely warp the audio so that you are able to time stretch.
Finally, somebody who understands MIDI and making those connections work. I have a question for you. I have a 24 channel USB powered fader mixing interface, and I want to permanently set it up to control the volume of tracks via USB/MIDI In sequences. So that I don’t have to go to each track and adjust the volumes, I can just do it with my mixer. Is there an easier way other than essentially telling the MPC unit what you want each fader and button to do? I feel the manual doesn’t truly cover enough about MIDI, in order to facilitate mixers and import those settings into every project you want to do. I know that I can have the MPC unit load up any templates that I save out. Which I use to save my favorite instruments on Tracks in order to be able to get into and start a new project/sequence instantly after turning the unit on. But I also want to have it load up the Mixer interface when it does so. so that I have instant control over volumes of each track on that mixer board. Along with fader and EQ’s. Any help would be awesome. Love your videos. Keep up the great work.
JD looked like a fool in this video. he clearly had no direction or understanding of the mpc workflow. some of yall on here fanboying on this dude and its too much. he should not have done this.
Idk man, something to be said for the ease of just being able to make an audio track and play your phantom on it, and then transfer it to pro tools or whatever. All that other jazz is nove if you are building your entire project in the MPC ,but if you just want to record some audio it's not necessary
Thoroughly impressed by your knowledge of Akai products in particular. I have a question for you. If you could only choose 1 to cover all your music needs would it be, the Force, the Mpc key 61 or the MPC X (se)???????????
Why not chop the keys. isn't it easier to just record the audio and export and bring it back in? Seem like to me your process is more for recording midi using outsourced hardware. I'm probably missing the point thou, maybe someone can explain.
i feel him on this why this isn't under loop or sample is crazy and you have to resample a sample it records already for audio track waves to show up add arranger view smh its like why akai ? the software is so clunky for simple things sometimes and i always use machines like he does never a manual if you have to use a manual besides for like midi cc routing they didn't make it intuitive enough you shouldn't master it out the box but make exploring fun at least . And don't get me started on the backwards step sequencer
That's also false. You can record both the audio and the MIDI at the same time but the real question is... Why would you do that in the first place? Especially, if you mess up playing the notes in real time. Hence why it would be SMART to record the MIDI first.
@@AveMcree I guess for me it was confusing at first cause you had to turn audio on 🔊 witch isn’t by default for some reason, and it felt out of place. being a separate audio space I guess intended for lyrics but it was how I was sampling if I messed up audio I’d just delete re-record and sense you didn’t see the recording wave right away it confused me it was midi. cause it’s under audio if that makes sense I did get it to work and after that was fine but initial setup left me scratching my head cause I wanted to chop the audio but then had to record it make it a sample send it over to programs then I could chop etc
For context at the time I was running power from usb to the dreadbox typhon and running audio out the typhon into the mpc not though midi so I was just trying to capture the audio and mix it with the mpc drums maybe I should have done it with midi just how I had my setup so sample was already ready I was just trying to capture it can’t render if it carried midi though usb I think 🤔 it could but I wasn’t using the 5 pin

The looper has an added latency when recording that the audio track doesn’t have for me. It’s like 5-10 ms ish. if it didn’t I would use it more.. Also with Audio track you can warp but warp sucks anyways in standalone mode. I Still prefer recording to audio track to get perfect loops then simply use the audio track 00x file in a program. Also you can punch in with audio tracks.
