I love ambitions mechanics and how now there is so much potential for player interaction. Previously it was almost nonexistent. I will never play Outer Rim without this expansion.
I always describe this game to people like this: "Outer Rim _really_ makes you feel like you're *doing a Star Wars,* but in the original Extended Universe". On my first game I played IG-88 and managed to get my all-droid crew assembled on the upgraded IG-2000. I didn't win the game, but the satisfaction of "doing the thing" in Outer Rim is almost as fun as victory, so long as you're a Star Wars fan (or if you have nostalgia for the old EU books). Other highlights include someone intentionally tanking their own chances of winning just so the person playing Han Solo could get the Chewbacca token, because "It wouldn't be right if I took Chewie and he never meets Han!", and any time someone actually gets one of the "assemble a ragtag crew and pull off a wacky job" characters to pop off.
Just played the expansion for the first time last night, this might be my current favourite. Didn't even use the ambitions/favours yet, just the abundance of new content with the cards, ships, contacts, core worlds etc takes it up several notches.
Haven't played this game Cody, but felt compelled to leave a comment... Wonderful wonderful sketch! I'm pretty sure the orcar-winning movie The Artist was inspired by you (via some time travel shenanigans) :) Your best videos have been the sketches with your friends... hope for regular sketches ;)
Thanks. I appreciate it. When we started the channel that's what we were going to do was sketch board game reviews, but it is a ton of work. Hope to bring more content like this to you in the future.
The core game went down a storm when I played it with my friends after lockdown. I'm looking forward to getting the expansion next week. So many good new dynamics specifically the hyper jump at the end of the board. Time to revisit the boardgame whats not far, far away. I hope there's more expansions and one what include BLX-5 AKA Bollux droid from a 1978 novel just for the double entendre sniggers from us British players
I like all of those games, Firefly probably my favorite. My big complaint about Firefly is that it is so long. I don't mind long games - in fact I prefer playing them - but they are hard to get to the table. So it feels very similar, but faster (although it is a bit longer when playing with ambitions). I'd say it's on par with the other two, and so it really is a matter of if you like the theme or not.
Had a friend ruin firefly for me. Yes .. blocking someone in a corner of the map IS a tactic... But it ruins the fun when I sat there for 45 minutes watching everyone else advance their goals
Agree with you totally it’s been too long overdue! And only thing that knocks this expansion down for me is the character selection this time around is super meh! Where is Kyle Katarn? Mandalorian, Cara Dune, Maul and the rest of the awesome characters! Two flavours of Wookie, Sequels/Solo randoms and the lamest bounty Hunter Dengar are poor substitutes. Nice to see Dash Rendar show up at least even though it’s as a crew.
As a bounty hunter in the galaxy I won't divulge any info on the jobs I did in the Outer Rim. ... .... ... instead I will revert to my usual tongue in cheek manner that I have.

Yeah. It's an essential expansion, for sure.

Ha! It’s a great, immersive Star Wars experience for sure!

I agree. All the new “stuff” really enhances it. The ambitions are a lot of fun, though.
The expansion is what got me to finally buy it.
Have you played it yet? What do you think?
@@TheDiscriminatingGamer It's amazing!

Yeah. Even more content would be great. Hopefully we won't have to wait three years for it this time.
Looks great! My friend has this expansion. Can’t wait to try it!
You’ll have fun!
Great review! I also love this game.
Thanks
I would love this game with or without the expansion, but it’s so expensive, here in the UK. Together looking at £85 ($105)!
That’s too bad. Hope you get a chance to play it.
6:22 how do you think this game, with the expansion, compares to :-

Firefly
Merchanst and Marauders
?

Time to do some dumpster diving! ;-)

You eat Cinnamon Toast Crunch like a champ 👍
That’s all I’ve ever wanted to be recognized for.
Did he put that cigar into his mouth backwards?🤔
Great video.
It’s his first time.
@@TheDiscriminatingGamer he was fantastic.
Lol @ the ending

Yeah. Kinda thought Dash would be a playable character.

I think some of your jokes should come with a PG-13 rating.
