Just hearing you talk about Cujo made me cry all over again the end of that book fucked me up. I sobbed for probably 5 minutes+ sad for Cujo but as a mom I was distraught over Tad. Absolute pit of my stomach sadness

I have the original Salem's Lot and Pet Semetary, but had to buy Carrie. Poor Cujo, I do remember parts of the movie, same with Christine, which makes me want to watch them again. You're coming to one of my favorite books that I have never read yet which is Pet Semetary...lol...again only know the movie. I do have a thought, not sure if you're going to read any of his short stories, but in Night Shift there's a story I think called Trucks, but the movie is called Maximum Overdrive, where semis become sentient and deadly, it's more than just semis, but they are the ones featured. Makes me wonder if Christine might've had a hand in this. Lot of his short stories and a graphic novel (Creepshow) were TV movies (they could have been in the theater, again, too young, I was born in 1981, so not sure). Can't wait to hear your thoughts on Eye of the Dragon since I have yet to read it.
I have never heard of Roadwork before and my first thought when you mentioned a highway being built through this guys house was Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy ... and now I don't think I'll ever be able to read it and take it seriously. 😂

It's definitely a saint bernard in the movie. I read that they had to use multiple dog actors because all the dogs wouldn't stop wagging their tails, licking the actors and looking like good boys and girls 😂
The Running Man movie is bonkers! I think its quite different from the book, but I haven't watched it in a while. I hope you enjoy the next set of books a bit more. The Eyes of the Dragon was the first Stephen King book I read. It's quite fairy tale like. I believe he wrote it for his children as they wanted to read something of his , but everything he'd written up till then was too scary!
I am so intrigued by Eyes of the Dragon, I’m very open to different styles from King even if I gravitate more towards horror, I think it will be a fun time

It's very King, even if it's not a strict horror story, and has a lot of his particular stylistic and writing choices, both good and bad. I feel like it's also the springboard from which we got the Dark Tower series. There are so many parts of it that seem to call forward to the stories of the Gunslinger and his world.
I've named every one of my car and I realized when you memtioned that most people refer to she that, I've had an even split of boy and girl names for car. My current car is Winton, named after the Bluey character.
'Thinner' actually started as a Bachman book. It was the book where fans connected the dots and realized Bachman and King were the same person. So you're done with that book but not with Bachman.
I literally just watched The Running Man! It sounds like the book is waaay different! The movie was really focused on the dystopian aspects and felt super 80s for better or worse 😅 but Ben (Schwarzenegger) was way more likable in the movie (which but that's such a low bar)
We have our own versions of game shows here and we have our own British presenters so when a game show comes from overseas, we just film our own version, but I'll have to check out Richard Dawson
Cujo is the only horror movie I cannot watch in one sitting. It also gave me nightmares. I think it is because it is something that could really happen. A dog gets rabids and tries to kill someone.
I absolutely enjoy christine both the book and movie and yes john carpenter did directed the film he was also supposed to direct the firestarter starring drew Barrymore unfortunately he was replaced

I have to say that I felt completely and utterly depressed the whole time I read Cujo and a few days after. I don’t know if that makes the book good or bad.I guess good in a sense that it managed to affect me so much, but I know for sure that I would never want to read it again, although it still sits on my shelf.
"Eminent domain" - the legal term for the government buying your property to build whatever they want - it always reminds me of Dodger stadium - there's now a bill called Chavez Ravine Accountability Act & if approved will pay people who were kicked out of their homes 🇺🇸🐻

You are correct. Humans have preventatives and immunoglobulins, but if you wait until symptoms appear you’re just as doomed as Cujo. It’s pretty much 100% fatal for all (and the only way to diagnose and animal is testing brain tissue so suspected animals are almost always euthanized).

I've already read that one, and I am doing Stephen King in publication order so I'll be re-reading that in episode 5
King has said in interviews that he was so strung out that he doesn't even remember writing Cujo.
And the fact I could still see so much literary merit in Cujo speaks volumes of his writing honestly

Honestly Cujo hits me harder than any other book. The parts we get in Cujo's head just make it so much worse. Really well told, but man it hits hard.
