I played this with a friend and we had a moment where once the survivors started dwindling, the bombs started dropping. It was insane because at that exact moment we had the weather get very foggy, making it look a ploom of smoke and ash post-bombing. Watching the bombs fall and the undead shambling towards us in the streets through the dust and the dim dusk sunlight was an incredibly surreal experience.

If you spawn at the police dept. The police cars outside will have there sirens on, so turn them off fast before it attracts all the zombies in the area.
i always wanted zombie game to start at the beginning. the actual beginning, as everyone start turning into zombies and people still think they are "sick". when i was kid, one of the scenario i wanted to happen irl, was zombie apocalypse. as kid i thought it would be fun, as adult, i probably would not make it past day three. even if i was not in urban center and stuff, supplies will go bad in less than one month. ironically, if you own a farm (just like the walking dead) and all your needs are from that farm, from food water and shelter. you will survive. but if we say that you are a hardened scavenger in urban center and kept stocking up on long life canned food that will not go bad for 1-4 years. i would say the zombies decaying body will take care of itself within 6-8 month (that at max, i say in 8 week the zombies will be too weak to be even a threat) so in realistic zombie apocalypse, if you survived the first two weeks, you probably will make it. it's most dangerous at the start and only will get easier (you worry more about food and water then zombie at that point)
Thankfully we don't have to worry about anything like that happening irl because thankfully there is no force in existence that could bring the dead back to life well except for God but he wouldn't do anything like that and say for example an outbreak actually did happen it'd be something more realistic like 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later and 28 Years Later and like a movie called The Crazies where the infected are actually still alive but they kinda behave like zombies

It was absolutely glorious until my hard drive melted.
I already knew the day one mod before this video, unfortunately the military burns down half the city with its rockets through the mod and also important lootable places like the police station or weapon shops if you're unlucky😂 but otherwise the mod is really cool
The mod is somewhat buggy in terms of the prespawned vehicles with sirens on. You can instantly hop in them but despite the key being there visually and mechanically, it states there is no key and will disappear once interacted with. I’m surprised there isn’t a game dedicated to the initial zombie outbreak. It’s always the most interesting and action packed part of the whole zombie apocalypse. Closest I got to a game capturing that feeling was in the prototype series. When I was a kid, I use to shape shift into a soldier and fight the zombies with other soldiers.
I guess the last of us touches on it at the beginning of the game but it is a very linear sequence. Yea i always hate how zombie games start X amount of time after, but i mean clearly you can see that simulating an actual non scripted apocalypse is very very expensive.
I imagine having that many NPCs simulating the panicked state of an outbreak on top of all of the zombie herding AI AND all of the other behaviors that would need to be handled on a large scale would need to be handled in a way that doesn't eat all of the memory haha
This mod is just the superb survivors mod put into an AI war, this is reminiscent of you going into gm sandbox and spawning a bunch of half life rebels and a tone of zombies and watching the chaos ensue as you occasionally blow stuff up
Project Zomboid is basically the Sims with a couple extra features (zombies & killing zombies). Other than that, it is pretty much the same game... minus woohoo... :(
I hope there's a way I can reduce the bombings or set them to start on a different day. Cause the military in Zomboid didn't go nuts with bombings to contain stuff until later.
I've just seen this mod yesterday on the steam workshop and the first thing that got my attention is not the mod itself, but the amount of rewards it got in like... 5 days? Great video tho
Yeah that immediately caught my eye too. Definitely a lot of hype around it and I would say it is well deserved. I've never experienced a mod quite like this one
This looks so chaotic and challenging, I hope they add adjustments for military hostility and bombing frequency. Getting free military supplies at the start with no consequences seems like an issue, but with half the buildings being destroyed by the bombs maybe it balances out. also the military dudes just ignoring their buddies getting stomped on 😂 6:20
They were… distracted hahaha. If you see the pinned comment I added to this video, they’ve already seemed to patch a number of things and part of it looked like NPC retaliation if you just decide to kill their friends for their sweet sweet loot lol
The only problem with this mod is a group of around 50 full sprinters bandits rushed me and how am I supposed to do anything with that. Opening was like a movie and I hope they continue with it
I know that since I made this video, the mod author already fixed some things and added updates like sandbox settings and other things. Check out my pinned comment for more details!
Um actually this is really cool and realistic if you think about like theres still survivors day one and still military that makes sense game dont have npcs idk why they was workin on it then nothing changed idk what they thinkin but this mod with a good settings like not bombs always or not every street full with survivors this mod can be really good
Devs should reaply add this as a game mode. I want NPCs so bad and love starting with all those guns to loot. In real Kentucky there are hella guns. Not just at gun stores
Honestly, they should add back the Bob and Kate story mode, maybe even make it episodic where each episode takes place during a certain point of the infection. Take notes from Telltales TWD. Episode 1 should be day 1 infection, tons of survivors running around, mass panic, main focus should be getting to safety. Episode 2 should be a week after day 1, less survivors running around, no more mass panic as most of the survivors are in their own safehouses or scavenging for supplies. Hostile bandits are now more common. Main focus should be gathering supplies and reinforcing your safehouse. Episode 3 should be a few weeks after day 1, even less of survivors, but they are now in larger communities/groups, the streets are mostly filled with infected, stores are mostly looted. Main focus should be establishing relations with other groups of survivors, attempting to clear out the infected in the town, and possibly trying to get rescued. Episode 4 could be a month after day 1, but I don't know how well it would play like, depending if they go with a full on story approach, you might be running your own group/community at this point, but I always found after a month into a save on Project Zomboid, I get bored. Even if it was a time skip a month into the infection, they would need to really add a lot of stuff to get me interested...
This mod reminds me of a DayZ server that takes place before the outbreak and eventual apocalypse although i don't know if on that server the outbreak eventually happens or not oh yeah and the military bombing everything reminded of the military bombings from The Walking Dead tv series when the outbreak first started and it also reminded me of a military bombing scene from 28 Weeks Later
I missed sharing videos with you uwu... Real talk though, I appreciate the kind words and I am trying to kick the channel up a notch and hope to have more regular uploads to share with you soon!
@PixelRookieOfficial I haven't published anything on the workshop but I've been reworking the Superb Survivors mod for my own use and I managed to get a more optimised AI. I'm really waiting for B42 to get a better AI base code to work with
@@KaptifLaDistillerie Dude that sounds awesome. The NPCs in the mod is really amazing but their behavior is near braindead when it comes to being competent and helpful (outside of assigning random tasks like piling corpses or gathering wood). I would LOVE to see them more fleshed out with better code available for people like you to be able to work with them. Keep me posted on your progress as I would love to try another NPC run one day if/when they are more competent!
Has anybody seen that some of these survivors just die for no reason sometimes. Like there are no zombies around them and I’m looking away and then I look back and then they just instantly die.
Would be pretty sick if this is the actual game when we finally get npc's. I'd love to see the events happen rather than watching them on the tv and radio.
I’d like to see it start off a little slowly with you waking up in your bed in the morning and hearing about some incident on the tv and as the day goes on you hear more incidents and even mass riots across the country seeing civil unrest boil over forcing the police and military to get involved with crowd control not knowing what’s actually going on and then zombies start appearing causing all hell to break lose
I disagree that it is the ONLY good part, but I do agree that I think it is the best part. I *love* the outbreak in the first episode of The Last of Us. It is so chaotic and tense
Why is everything burnt to the ground?! Starting in Day One and creating a full playthrough would certainly be interesting with the bombings to destroy a lot of potential areas to loot
They fucking updated this mod and made it even harder, now dudes are not as before from the second day begin to kill and from the first day among all the house in me shoot and beat me
@@PixelRookieOfficial I recommend using the P-music mod btw adds so many good tracks that feel like vanilla songs sometimes they play and I forget that it's even a mod
lol you gotta run away from there and come back after the first day when the bombing stops. I saw that they added sandbox settings to this mod too so there might be a way to help with the issue by tweaking the settings
Oh my man, I don’t think there’s an easy way to do that. Your best bet is to disable half of your mods, test it out, see if the issue is still going on, and go from there. If it’s still there, the half of mods you turned off are good. If the issue is gone, that means the half you disabled has the culprit in there. Just keep cutting the active mods in half until the issue isn’t there and test individually… a painful process for sure but that’s like the only way I would know how to fix such an issue. I’m not QA person though but that’s my suggestion. Good luck!
@gfdsakiller6607 of course! It’s not really a great solution, but cutting the mods in half each time and testing is the only way I could think to narrow it down in bulk. Good luck

@@JohnDoe-lx3dt Heck yeah thanks my dude! More PZ stuff will come soon too :)

that guy sure has a nice "AK"
Lol you guys are wild. I’m going to keep calling stuff by the wrong name because I have about 90 comments correcting me of my error 😂
@@PixelRookieOfficial so you are just trying to get better with the algorithm by using the greatest human invention called "Correcting mistakes"
You villain.
@xjmaniax well this was me just saying the wrong thing in the heat of the moment but I get more user engagement from being a dummy that gets corrected than anything else haha. It’s the perfect plan as I naturally say stuff incorrectly all the time 😏
@@PixelRookieOfficial just call pistols assault rifles for more engagement :)))
nothing else is needed.
@xjmaniax 😂
5:52 Lore accurate Army in zombie movies
Around 1:46 you called an M16 an AK... 2 very different weapon systems and calibers. Looks like a really fun mod though!
Haha yeah I noticed that when editing. I'm no gun expert, but I can at least tell the difference of those two guns _USUALLY_ :)
@@PixelRookieOfficial I guess that means no more guns allows for you, MELEE ONLY!
@Food24112 if you watch my other videos, I’m almost always a melee boy haha
🤓☝️
1:37 That's incredibly unlucky. Those zombies all probably spawned in the bathroom. There's an incredibly low chance of getting that to happen, but it's like 15 zombies in a bathroom. I've heard it called a bathroom party, but it's a thing. Right off spawn is hilarious.
You had me at "Pocket Marinara" - subscribed.
If you think _pocket marinara_ is good, I can't wait for you to discover our many *bean breaks* :)
Thanks for the comment and sub
This mod is just the superb survivors mod put into an AI war, this is reminiscent of you going into gm sandbox and spawning a bunch of half life rebels and a tone of zombies and watching the chaos ensue as you occasionally blow stuff up
Just imagine what this'd be like with The Darkness is Coming mod
1:02 lol hotdog
Whoa, *another* hotdog? Let’s gooo
@@PixelRookieOfficial yoooooooooo!!
I will always appreciate people who put rimworld music in the back ground of videos 😊
They really go well together, don't they? I was pleasantly surprised the first time I slapped them together
I don't. Both are fantastic games, each on its own way.
Holy crap, i thought i would have to wait for build 43 for this!
Man, the sims ost in the background just kills this =]]]]]]]]]]]
Project Zomboid is basically the Sims with a couple extra features (zombies & killing zombies). Other than that, it is pretty much the same game... minus woohoo... :(
Definitely want to see more of this mod
I hope there's a way I can reduce the bombings or set them to start on a different day. Cause the military in Zomboid didn't go nuts with bombings to contain stuff until later.
Best zomboid youtuber with his friends, too, make everything funny and brightens my day
Thanks so much
I've just seen this mod yesterday on the steam workshop and the first thing that got my attention is not the mod itself, but the amount of rewards it got in like... 5 days? Great video tho
Yeah that immediately caught my eye too. Definitely a lot of hype around it and I would say it is well deserved. I've never experienced a mod quite like this one
I added this to our server and we had a blast. Thinking of wiping again just so all the new ppl can experience it too
We’re you using a lot of other mods with it? How was it with the stability of a server with lots of people?
his inner christopher walken came out at 2:38
"Hey... Give me a gun." Here. Lets kill him and take his guns."
"I think when you log in, you are the payload" hahah
Drunk brought the HEAT when he relogged hahaha
bro you play all the games i like, the only one i havent tried in your videos is project zomboid. gonna try that out! subbed
I want one where you can be the zombies on day one. Infect patient zero play as him and sorta switch around zombies freely when you die
I think a mod that lets players do that in an intuitive way would be a lot of fun for multiplayer
Um actually this is really cool and realistic if you think about like theres still survivors day one and still military that makes sense game dont have npcs idk why they was workin on it then nothing changed idk what they thinkin but this mod with a good settings like not bombs always or not every street full with survivors this mod can be really good
That’s a great idea, they should incorporate this into the vanilla game as default start
Died to a A-10 strafe in 7 real life minutes 10/10
The military was gaming too hard
You got the WW1 creeping barrage experience holy moly!
insanity at it's finest. Time to add this to my 300 mods I run, that won't cause problems! :clueless:
In the short time Drunk and I played on this mod, we *only* accumulated ~1,200 error codes hahaha
The casual curb-stomping of npcs makes me think this mod should have a karma system or something lol
I think they already updated the mod so they actually retaliate when you decide to kill them off like that hahaha
Even more reason to run into the forest to be a woodsman.
Living our best life chopping wood and eating worms lol
This mod reminds me of a DayZ server that takes place before the outbreak and eventual apocalypse although i don't know if on that server the outbreak eventually happens or not oh yeah and the military bombing everything reminded of the military bombings from The Walking Dead tv series when the outbreak first started and it also reminded me of a military bombing scene from 28 Weeks Later
6:41 Since when does Shepherd care about danger close?
Thank god for your uploads I’ve missed you….
I missed sharing videos with you uwu...
Real talk though, I appreciate the kind words and I am trying to kick the channel up a notch and hope to have more regular uploads to share with you soon!
This is probably lore accurate and canon of how the entire Kentucky's citizens died out and you're the only solo survivor in vanilla.
Since NPCs are not in the base game, and probably won't be for another 10+ years, that sounds about right haha
3:40-3:51 I want that animated XD
Once they release the base code for AI with animals in B42, modders are gonna have a blast making this even better
I *HOPE* they can use that code to mod more complex NPC behaviors with these kinds of mods. A man can dream...
@PixelRookieOfficial don't you worry brother, we'll be working hard getting the best mods out there
@@KaptifLaDistillerie Are you a modder yourself? If so, let me know what you've done and I'll give it a look!
I love the people running around with plungers. I've heard they are very efficient weapons... xD
They help flush away any zombie threats
Has anybody seen that some of these survivors just die for no reason sometimes. Like there are no zombies around them and I’m looking away and then I look back and then they just instantly die.
This looks so badass! Just found your channel now and you just got a sub
Heck yeah happy you found me
Let's Gooooo!!!!!!! just made my sunday better with a pixelrookie video drop.
Heck yeah 😎
Hope you enjoyed this one!
@PixelRookieOfficial definitely did. Gonna find this mod and try it myself lol. As well as the multiple mall map mod you guys did a while back.
That mall is quite the challenge! This mod is really cool. Hope you enjoy it!
@@PixelRookieOfficial thanks man keep up the awesome work on the videos. Shit cracks me up lol
Lol I played it with npc and bandits in Louisville as well absolute choas
Damn was that intro the summer of love in Portland in 2020?
_oof_
Would be pretty sick if this is the actual game when we finally get npc's. I'd love to see the events happen rather than watching them on the tv and radio.
I’d like to see it start off a little slowly with you waking up in your bed in the morning and hearing about some incident on the tv and as the day goes on you hear more incidents and even mass riots across the country seeing civil unrest boil over forcing the police and military to get involved with crowd control not knowing what’s actually going on and then zombies start appearing causing all hell to break lose
Man called a M16 an AK 😂
_Ssshhhhhhhhhhhh_
Honestly day ONES in every apocalyptic movie or series are ALWAYS the best and in my opinion only good part
I disagree that it is the ONLY good part, but I do agree that I think it is the best part. I *love* the outbreak in the first episode of The Last of Us. It is so chaotic and tense
you want a backpack? yeah... hey buddy.....🤣🤣
Drunk was very convincing when he... _bartered_ that backpack from the other survivor lol
Rimnworld music is so timeless.
Okay day 1!... lets turn on survivors for their goodies XD
Yep still realistic af!
Me after picking the park ranger profession and completely avoiding day one: Why rosewood is full of bodies...
Why is everything burnt to the ground?! Starting in Day One and creating a full playthrough would certainly be interesting with the bombings to destroy a lot of potential areas to loot
The fact that Project Zomboid Npcs have a higher chance here in controlling the zombies unlike some tv shows is crazy 😂
I'll be cooking meat on my CPU with this one
They fucking updated this mod and made it even harder, now dudes are not as before from the second day begin to kill and from the first day among all the house in me shoot and beat me
They added sandbox settings so maybe this can be tweaked? That is kind of funny though
@@PixelRookieOfficial Idk sorry:(
Bro got early access to npc build
I dig the Rimworld music lol
Rimworld music is bae. Glad you enjoyed it :)
@@PixelRookieOfficial I recommend using the P-music mod btw adds so many good tracks that feel like vanilla songs sometimes they play and I forget that it's even a mod
@CrashesAndDestruction p music is a banger of a mod
@@PixelRookieOfficial Hell yeah! The first mod I ever used was P-music
this is what default PZ vanilla shouldve been :D
When build 43 comes out in 20 years and NPCs are native to the game, we just might be able to experience it hahaha
The mod would be great if it weren't for the fact that every time I load the game, my house is bombarded again.
lol you gotta run away from there and come back after the first day when the bombing stops. I saw that they added sandbox settings to this mod too so there might be a way to help with the issue by tweaking the settings
cant wait for more mods to get better
It's definitely come a long way and I'm sure more awesome mods will keep coming too
“I got marinara, and Mac and cheese. I’ll just put that in my pocket.”
I'm sorry, do you *not* carry around pocket marinara in a time of crisis?!

The only thing better than pocket marinara is a bean break with the boys 😎
These mod is basically my PZ NPC itch lol
It is great and I hope they can continue to develop it to be even more robust
great video! a fantastic mod, looks awesome
Thanks so much! It is a really cool mod and a lot of fun to experience. Hopefully some of the jankiness can be updated in the future though.
The second i saw this i knew it was bandits day one
It’s such a cool idea and works really well for the most part. It definitely has some jank with it but it is an awesome experience.
day 1 is sure Chaotic this how everyone else may die
for the sake of project zomboid on how your actions will tell the story of How you died
It is really cool for sure. Lots of chaos and casualties
average day in Kentucky
Theres a bug, that doesnt let me loot, it stay stuck in the grabbing animation, its a mod problem, how I know which mod its the problem?
Oh my man, I don’t think there’s an easy way to do that. Your best bet is to disable half of your mods, test it out, see if the issue is still going on, and go from there. If it’s still there, the half of mods you turned off are good. If the issue is gone, that means the half you disabled has the culprit in there. Just keep cutting the active mods in half until the issue isn’t there and test individually… a painful process for sure but that’s like the only way I would know how to fix such an issue. I’m not QA person though but that’s my suggestion. Good luck!
@@PixelRookieOfficial thanks bro
@gfdsakiller6607 of course! It’s not really a great solution, but cutting the mods in half each time and testing is the only way I could think to narrow it down in bulk. Good luck
it is!
can´t wait for the slayer dude, who wrote it, to fix the blizzard. Makes it impossible to survive after 15.30
in MP
I need to check out their other mods because this is incredible. I know it is based on the framework of their Bandits mod, but I don't know if they've done anything else.
@@PixelRookieOfficial me neither.
but I don´t think so. This dude is sworn to chaos and destruction :D
absolutly love it. It fills in a gap, Zomboid always had for me, the start.
After his last mod update, it was impossible to survive after 16h.
He said, it was the blizzard.
So I started a couple of times yesterday on our server, again without it....
it was sooooo sad :D
And today, my admin told, he had kind of fixed the prob.
YEAH!
The bandit-mod is cool in general.
You can make them dismantle your cars, break down doors/barricades.
They can even build bridges, if you let them.
Now my zomboid feels complete.
I can shower, I can clean up, I can play the trumpet :) and now there´s even an apocalyptic beginning!
turned my phone of the rest of the week :D
@@jensmarkgraf That's awesome that it has been getting updated so quickly. If it is doable to survive past the initial insanity with this mod, I think a really fun challenge would be long-term survival starting from Day One... HMMMMM.... maybe one of these days I will try it out :)
@@PixelRookieOfficial I m still in doubt.
Because longterm is always the goal.
I guess we both love it because it´s just not only a shooter :)

We are wipen....5 times a day now :D :D :D
Thanks! Also, check out the mod again as they added a bunch of updates already that I think have addressed the issues we’re talking about! Got a link for the server by any chance? I don’t really have a lot of time to play, between IRL job, family and editing, but I’d love to check it out
You didnt even see the nuke at the end of the day xD
i also love the initial outbreak so much like ftwd or tlou
I hope the game plays like this after the much anticipated NPC update if you pick to play during the initial days/ weeks of the outbreak, but way less janky and more interesting, obviously. This mod gives a sweet taste of what the NPC update could be.
Can't wait to see NPCs driving away with their cars seeking to leave the exclusion zone, military trucks stopping by full of soldiers to try and stop the zombies, doctors in hazmat suits dropping by as well, survivors gathering with other survivors in houses and points of interest, etc. It's something that's still so far away but im still hyped.
@@SevKast_7dang that would actually be incredible, definitely much more work than we can even imagine to add such things
The devs said there wouldn’t be any “beginning of the outbreak” type stuff for NPCs.
@@matthewjones39They will only make it easier for the modders to mod in this scenarios.
The good news is that when build 43 comes out in 10-20 years, we will be able to find out for ourselves hahaha
Does this work with superb survivors? Or is there already a follower system in this mod?
Check out the Bandits mod, as this is built on top of its framework (same mod author), which has its own survivor NPC mechanics
I wish this mod made the military look like those zombie in "Realistic Army Zombies mod" It look like one of those cleanup guy at the start of twd.
The idea behind this mod is good, the execution does leave a lot to be desired...
I think it’s definitely a strong start. I’d love to see it develop into something tighter
most of the errors are unfortunatelly the result of conflicts with other mods
The mod is good but I keep getting nuked by the GOD DAM US ARMY IN THE GOD DAMN COUNTRY SIDE! It's like that one anime about the man being the main source of a gas... Wait a minute
Lol they are coming for you
2:55 you are lucky that dude didn't decide to blast you with his plunger
