My dad died when I was 21. I got married at 23 and took my bouquet to his grave to tell him I was married and I was ok. I always refer to it as “visiting my dad” not visiting his grave. I’m going to see my dad. I walked down the aisle on my own. It was such a bitter sweet feeling. I think it’s fantastic that you get to visit your dad too. Such mixed emotions x x

First time your mom was walking with you down the isle, as lovely as it was, made the absence of your dad painfully obvious and I sobbed just like I'm sobbing now. Emptiness that loved ones leave behind when they pass can't be filled by anyone and anything. Every person in our lives has their unique place and others can ease the pain of a loss, but the emptiness is still there to hurt. Sometimes it gets overwhelming, when we need them the most - to share the happiness or to seek comfort. I'm sure you can feel how much loved you are by your family, especially your mom. First time your mom was walking with you down the isle, as lovely as it was, made the absence of your dad painfully obvious and I sobbed just like I'm sobbing now. Emptiness that loved ones leave behind when they pass can't be filled by anyone and anything. Every person in our lives has their unique place and others can ease the pain of a loss, but the emptiness is still there to hurt. Sometimes it gets overwhelming, when we need them the most - to share the happiness or to seek comfort. I'm sure you can feel how much loved you are by your family, especially your mom.
