When i was a young boy, i begged my Grandmother to let me have some of her coffee because it smelled so good. She got so fed up with my begging, that she finally relented and let me fill up a very large Mason jar with coffee. I got so sick on that coffee that i never drank coffee again. Fast forward to adulthood, and i was a police officer for 38 years. Every 7-11 i stopped into on the midnight shift for those 38 years offered me a free cup of coffee, and i think were more than a little offended that i always turned it down.
60 seconds in andI’m already laughing 😂. This was so much more interesting than I expected. It’s amazing what goes into it. They really know their coffee! I found it fascinating and am excited to watch next week’s episode. ☕️😃
I love the Mt. Hood area. The Pacific Crest Trail goes passed the base of the mountain and right in front of Timberline Lodge. That's the lodge used in the filming of The Shining. Just last September I hiked the 40 mile loop around the mountain. Hoping to do it again this year. You're adorable.....thx
Thanks for featuring a local roaster and a iconoclastic air roasting one at that. Glad you’re able to visit and show off your old PNW stomping grounds. A real treat for us Portlanders!
I'm such a weird coffee person. Cold brew is my jam, and I'm a big fan of chocolate covered espresso beans. I'm not one to wake up and brew a hot cup... 🤷🏼♀️
I can't stand coffee, but I love the smell, chocolate covered espresso beans, and coffee-flavored ice cream! This was super interesting to watch the process. Can't wait to see the next episode...will you be serving coffees to hipsters? Haha!
Same here. Don't like coffee unless it's mixed with something sweet and creamy, but the aroma is intoxicating and the processes behind it are fascinating. I could watch a Netflix show like this.
You’re adorable! Thank you for such a delightful video (I have not finished watching it but felt compelled to tell you that your video is delightful and you are adorable)!
New movie out next month people. (beyond Mars) "THE BEAN PLANET" Staring -Katee (the roaster) Sackhoff. Thanks Ororo for featuring the Katee (the roaster) Sackhoff in the video. Things I never knew about coffee.
Hahahaha! "Europeans!" Correct! The espresso I make in my home has a "love or hate reputation." It doesn't matter if it has caffeine or not. If it does...rocket fuel! It comes one way: STRONG! Wow. My thanks to Mt. Hood Roasters! That was a great presentation. If I ever go to that area, that'll be my first stop. Katee, if you think regular Starbuck coffee is strong, we had something behind the counter to make it stronger. I remember a bag of white powder. It looked like cocaine! What was it? Powered caffeine! The manager told me if someone asked for a cup "with extra power," we were to scoop a spoon of powered caffeine into their caffeinated coffee! True story.
Hi, I committed to work by motorcycle all year round for more than ten years. I’m typically ok with cold but hate my hands being cold. I have always had heated grips and bark busters but they only help you grip the grips, the back of your hands get very little protection. Then I found gerbings heated gloves, halle-bloody-Luya 😎😎😎😎😎. Complete game changer for me, so totally agree about heated gear 👍👍👍.
You're good on the name side. Starbuck was Starbuck, quite a few years before Starbuck's was Starbuck's. Love your episodes. Keep up the good work. Coffee drinker here too, all day drinker.
I had to buy some of their coffee after seeing this video of yours. Love to see you in the your short hair from your early Starbuck days. From a fellow Washingtonian .
Season Greeting 2023&2024 season California cool morning home brew coffee ☕️ Mr Coffee. SEENING RUclips video on Series Katie Sockoff, make Coffee ☕️ ♥️ neat cool amazing.California 😎 neat. Thanks Katee, Good day.okay.
Thank you so much for sharing this! I too LOVE coffee, in fact my husband was in a band that wrote a song called “Coffee Bean, You’re My Everything” which I constantly requested. 😂☕️
I don't think you will ever retire from acting Katee you are a born performer! And not a bad athlete either! Your youtube experiences really inspire!!!
By the way, my wife has managed coffee shops in the past: Caribou Coffee, Peete's Coffee, and of course, Starbucks. She knows a little about coffee as well.
Starbuck loves coffee!😂 I love it. Well played Madam! Awesome to see you here, in our territories. Keelah se'lai! All of this has happened before.. all of this will happen again..
I used to live in a neighborhood that had a coffee roasting business nearby. A couple of times during the day (I was working the midnight shift and sleeping during the day) they'd burn a batch and I'd wake up thinking the building was on fire but it was the coffee roasting business. Oyi veh.
Hmmm, played the character that had the same name as a really big coffee chain. Stumped. Tim Horton? Dunkin'? Tully's? Peet's? Not sure. Hmmm, I worked for a coffee place for a short time once before entering the services a while back. It was called "Starbucks?" I don't see a connection. ; ) All I know was it was easier to go through smoke, save some's life, and put out a fire than to go through a bunch of touchscreen menus for someone to order a regular coffee! Anyway, the beginning blooper was hilarious! I had to watch that a few times!
That was actually one of the best vids i have seen on the roasting process. I started doing my own roasting about a year ago to make cold brew. I stop at what he would call under cooked because i wanted the Max amount of caffeine per glass. By using raw Robusta beans and doing a "city roast" (step before blond roast) i can actually get 1500-2000mg of caffeine per oz. (average espresso is 100 per glass)
Great video. A new learning experience. Never heard of air roasting. I love light roast too. I have been spoiled for 20 years by the exceptional whole beans from all over the world sold by Martin Diedrich at Kean's in Costa Mesa. I do not work there. Used to watch him cup 20 different types of whole beans from all over the world at the round table, only to choose 1 or 2 for sale in his shop. Thru him I discovered Jamaican Blue Mountain in the 90's, and Panama La Esmeralda Geisha in the early 2000's. I was so lucky to have tasted Geisha back then. It cost $40.00/ 12 oz. bag. Now it is the most expensive whole bean coffee on the planet, at over $800.00/ LB. at auction. If you are lucky enough to try it, the price for one 12 oz. cup is $75.00. It tastes better than some fine wines. Most humans on planet earth don't realize they are constantly drinking stale coffee, and think that is the norm. If it does not have a roast date on the package and a vent valve, not worth buying. You will never know how long it has been sitting on the shelf, decaying in the bag. Most have never enjoyed fresh whole bean coffee 5 - 7 days roasted in a pour-over or a french press. Having tried both types of preparation for the same bean, many find a pour over to be the best way to enjoy a truly delicious cup. Therein lies the debate. Then there is the issue of the best burr grinder for preparing the whole bean, never a Mr. Coffee or equivalent type of grinder, very fresh ultra filtered water, weight of beans for a 12 oz. cup, the right pour over filter, and the proper temperature of the water for the pour over or french press. Mr. Deidrich sells a cylinder container with a bleed valve suction top to keep the whole beans fresh in the fridge or freezer the longest. It's the state of the art storage container. Whenever one orders whole beans from Kean's, they are roasted the day the order comes in, and shipped within 2 days, so you get them in the 5 - 7 day window for fresh storage. "The only way to travel". I have been lucky enough to live in southern California and frequent his location for a Mayan Mocha with almond milk latte, and have conversations with him regarding coffee. His dad invented the Diedrich coffee roaster. I do not believe that he allows dirt, stems, and leaves in the vat with the whole beans. I will have to ask him about this. Life without coffee is like a day without sunshine.
I dont like to drink coffee, but I love the smell. But your video really makes me want to drink it. Lol. They explained everything very well I thought. Great video
Love this, thank you Katee!!! What makes me love this even more is that my friends and I actually are selling coffee from Colombia in the UAE, and still learn something new everyday about it. But I have learned that for years I drank old burnt coffee now I'm picky. Thanks again you are amazing.
Awesome video Katee. So interesting, I had no idea the process of it all. I love coffee but my stomach does not☹️ I have tried decaf and can tolerate that better. I drink a lot of tea now and it has caffeine in it. I don’t understand why my tummy can’t tolerate. But I do indulge once in awhile. Looking forward to part 2 next week. Thanks for the videos.🙂💗
Love my coffee, you never know how much better fresh roasted is until you have it. I order mine from a Veteran owned company that roasts it when you order. It costs more but is well worth it, plus they donate part of their profits to veterans organizations so its a win win for me.
Black Rifle Coffee Company, they put out a lot of off the wall videos also, demented military humor which being a vet hits home with me. If your really a coffee person this ones for you ruclips.net/video/36F8uzMobKw/видео.html
This was how I was introduced to the funny and delightful Katee Sackhoff three-years ago! I am so happy to learn you will be back with more episodes in 2023!
Oh holy shit balls! Katie and Coffee! Are you kidding me! My two favorite things?!? Bravo! Bra-fucking-vo! (Sorry for the enthusiasm, rofl quarentine got me!).
I just found your channel. I had no idea you grew up in Portland. I’m was born and raised in Portland. Still live here actually. Graduated Sunset High School 1997. You’re an amazing actress. Looking forward to watching your RUclips videos.
Great video :D I really need to drive up there this summer. It's like an hour from my house. I have no excuse for ignoring the literal mountain at my doorstep lol. I will be drinking tea though...
Thank you katee, I found out you had a RUclips channel and it's great to see the person behind your awesome characters. I'm a huge coffee junkie (filter, espresso...), No sugar, no milk. This was very instructive. I didn't know about the valve thing I just supposed like you that it was for smelling it before buying... I started drinking coffee in the US but it was not really good (very watery) wherever I went. It stayed with me that you cannot find a good coffee in the US (sorry guys I was young and stupid, I didn't know about roasters or specialized coffee stores at the time). I learned so much from this episode. PS: I kept my coffee in the fridge until my BF made me keep it at room temperature. I'm glad I was "right" :)
While the coffee is getting roasted aroud the 13/14 minute mark, is Katee mic'd? And the other two folks speaking? Noticing that there are people moving around in the background, looks like orders are getting taken and maybe even customers are off camera. It's amazing that the sound of the conversation comes through clearly!
Get some dark roast in a french press, and you won't be drinking 8 cups a day. I could make it before work, drink those 3 cups over the morning and be wide awake for the rest of the day. Found that I'm very much a dark roast person as the 3 types of medium roast I got just didn't taste as good as dark did, but I completely understand that taste is different for each individual. This was a very informative, fun video so thanks, Katee.
We bought a bag of roasted beans while in Puerto Rico last summer and we just used them in out grinder during the last two months, they were a bit on the bitter side, but still good coffee. I think it’s best to use up roasted beans within 3-6 months if you can.

I enjoyed this very much. I hope his business survives the current crisis. He obviously has really put his heart in it.
They have online ordering. I just ordered 2 bags last night. Was only $5 flat rate to ship from OR to me in PA.
Order from them for sure.
When i was a young boy, i begged my Grandmother to let me have some of her coffee because it smelled so good. Just as well you didn't ask her for a taste of some moonshine.
" Here you go Kirk, 1 litre of moonshine, drink up!"

John McA I always thought that was in BC, Canada, anyways live and learn. Thanks.
Man, this piece makes me want to move to Portland and hang out in a cool coffee house and read and write😌
Thanks for featuring a local roaster and a iconoclastic air roasting one at that. Glad you’re able to visit and show off your old PNW stomping grounds. A real treat for us Portlanders!

Hi Katee, you are a bright light of joy and goodness. Loved the vid. U deserve 5 mill views.
I am puzzleman 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Deserve is a big word, but I’ll take it 👍🏻❤️
Definitely more subscribers and views.

Of course she loves coffee. That seems to be a PNW sort of thing. Also, thanks for turning me on to Ororo. My wife will love one of those.
Morgan Smiley They truly are amazing! I wear mine everywhere and my mother in law loves hers too 👍🏻❤️
Hahahaha! "Europeans!" Correct! The espresso I make in my home has a "love or hate reputation." It doesn't matter if it has caffeine or not. If it does...rocket fuel! It comes one way: STRONG! Wow. What's so hard?? You just stand there and humorously insult them! lmao! "Roast"... Get it...? *coughs*
You're good on the name side. Starbuck was Starbuck, quite a few years before Starbuck's was Starbuck's. Love your episodes. Keep up the good work. Coffee drinker here too, all day drinker.

Starbuck loves coffee!😂 I love it. Well played Madam! Awesome to see you here, in our territories. Keelah se'lai! All of this has happened before.. all of this will happen again..
Chocolate coated coffee beans, one of my little guilty pleasures
I used to live in a neighborhood that had a coffee roasting business nearby. A couple of times during the day (I was working the midnight shift and sleeping during the day) they'd burn a batch and I'd wake up thinking the building was on fire but it was the coffee roasting business. Oyi veh.
I love my local coffee roasters and can’t wait for them to open up! Go away COVID-19 virus so I can get my coffee again!
Oh my stars, I used to WORK in a coffee shop and thought the valve was for smelling too! I'm learning all the things here. Thanks!
I love coffee, and I love learning about the process. Thank you Katee. You are such a great down to earth super star. Please keep making these shows.
It was educative and funny. The only talking beans I saw were those in Holland's "Coffee shops"
OMG Katee thank you for that big smile of yours... This channel is sooo entertaining.
Mt. Hood is really beautiful.
Commercially, you did better than I could EVERY do in making a cup of coffee (all thumbs here) 😎
I like that Katee didn't seem to be someone from Hollywood coming down to see how the "the little people" live
Thanks Katee! I can officially say "RUclips made me buy it" 🤣. I went to their website and ordered a couple bags after watching this yesterday.
Hmmm, played the character that had the same name as a really big coffee chain. Stumped. Tim Horton? Dunkin'? Tully's? Peet's? Not sure. Good video 26 minutes went quick. Can you do a video about your motorcycles?
Going through coffee withdrawals right now. Doc told me to cut back for a few weeks. As a coffee fanatic, watching this video is torture.
Not a fan of the drink but I find the processes interesting. Thanks for the sharing.
I thought your characters name was "7 11 Coffee"?

Katee sackhoff should have gone to a Starbucks to see their reaction. If it's in L.A nobody would probably notice.
LOL omg fun vid Katee, good job. And Certainly educational on the process, even I didn't know all that info.
Great video :D I really need to drive up there this summer. It's like an hour from my house. I have no excuse for ignoring the literal mountain at my doorstep lol. I will be drinking tea though...

Hi Katee, when you want to know how the best coffee is made, you should go to South Europe (Italy, France, Greece).
Awesome content as usual. Having a coffee while watching 😂
Hilarious. Keep yer dayjob. Grtz from Amsterdam
Love coffee 64 to 96 oz a day. Mine is 2 tablespoons of butter 2 tablespoons HWC. Great for fasting
A buddy buys green Kona beans and uses an air popper. My grandfather was a baker 1909 until after WWII. He roasted coffee in his ovens.
When did you play a character named Maxwell House??
That was really cool and informative!
Dear Katee, the perfect coffee is the neapolitan coffee. Greetings, you are nice! Paolo (Italy)
I want deep fake technology to get to the point where the face of Brie Larson can be replaced with Katee Sackhoff as she is the true Captain Marvel.
We bought a bag of roasted beans while in Puerto Rico last summer and we just used them in out grinder during the last two months, they were a bit on the bitter side, but still good coffee. I think it’s best to use up roasted beans within 3-6 months if you can.
So interesting! Thank you for this
❤❤❤
Wow! I learned more about coffee from your video than I have learned from anyone else who has talked to me about coffee before. Great job!
Awesome video. Enjoy your work, keep it up!
Me: Don't say it.....Don't say it....Don't say it.....Don't say it.....
