Half of the house was completely sealed of, crooked corridors not going anywhere, hidden doors everywhere, a hidden second kitchen, a tunnel between the bathroom and one of the bedrooms, a flight of stair built just to take you up to a small room with a secret door, that led to another smaller steep flight of stairs straight to the basement etc etc. Pretty weird. "Yeah... Nothin' to it..." 😆 I've worked as a journeyman carpenter and drywall installer, amongst other things, which use these skill sets and I can appreciate the amount of enginuity and patience, as well as just "building stuff" that went into this. Very cool. If you use the available hardware to stand off the drywall from the framing as well as put a thin foam liner between the double drywall on the one side, you can truly sound proof (within just a couple DBs) that room. Depending upon the design of the (or "your") house, if the loss of depth in the room vs the floorplan/layout as you move through the house, the fact that there's a hidden room may not be immediately perveivable and with a little more effort, an actual "safe room" (add outside ventilation and separately supplied "water closet") could be a viable idea. Even without the plumbing, it could be a viable place to fortify (with supplies and maybe a radio/phone setup) and you've got a "where'd they go!!??" room in case of a home invasion situation. I have a "defensible" if not hidden room in my house that's got ventilation, a bathroom and is my CB radio base station hobby station. If the power and wifi and phone lines all go down, a battery backup supply and my radio setup means I'm always able to get in touch with the authorities and other people, no matter what. @@triforceblader03 adding a vent isn't going to do much, it'll allow for air to enter.. But there isn't enough airflow to circulate throughout the room. This is why you dont build an extra room without connecting the AC to the new room.. Imagine being stuck in a room with no air flow besides for the tiny ass vent.. It'll be stuffy as fuck.
I used to live in an added room that actually contained the AC vent for a much larger room and was sequestered off from whatever lets the AC know when to shut off, so my room was always freezing cold. In that way, I had the exact opposite problem from what you described.
I was thinking the same thing about adding the vents. When adding the lights on the soffet they could have tapped into the trunk line and put its own vent and return in.
What I'm curious about is why the wall is empty inside? For sound deadening you can put some foam-like material, no? Is it because of some safety reasons I don't get?
this would be pretty easy to do. even if you just have a spare room, you just put a wardrobe over the door and build the door into the back wall of the wardrobe. an exercise in pointlessness but it’s cool lmao

Great job on this project. To Josh, Welcome Home and thank you for your service. UH-60s rock!
@@prima164 Kind of hard to be thankful, respectful, or show reverence to people who are obnoxiously loud and try to "force" people to be thankful for things they might only tangentially benefit from, *indirectly.* Even if you're right, if you're an insufferable dick about it, nobody's going to want to give you any credit. TL;DR: America tackles a lot of problems, but it doesn't solve *ALL* problems. Humility, friend. Learn some.
If you went through basic for any of the branches you'd know that one of the first things they drill out of you is arrogance and unearned pride. Either you probably didn't serve, or you didn't listen and learn well.
I really like the secret flower pot switch! Thanks for sharing
Awesome idea guys. Love it. Going to steal all these ideas for my wardrobe. THank you 11

No because this title belongs to Osama Bin Laden
No one would ever find you...also this would be a really cool two truths and one lie! Oh I have a secret door in my wardrobe...but then people would want to see it so maybe not
Actually god is the hide and seek champion. And probably always will be.

What's the point here?
Them: We have to soundproof this room by adding two layers of drywall.
Me: I should just add soundproof insulation in this wall.
Was about to write the same.
Ikr?
@maggie198333 Of course I'm a looker so let's keep it real. lol
Is it too much to ask for both
Cut a hole 1 1/2 to 2 inches in diameter between each pair of studs, at the top of the wall, and spray cellulose or foam into the cavity with a hose.
This video entered the realm of science fiction when their stud finder actually found a stud.
lmao i was thinking the same thing. i need to get one of the stud finders they have!
LOL I don't own a stud finder and thought to myself "wow those things actually work?"
@@Book-Gnome My experience has shown that a stud finder is almost as effective as using the Force and your Jedi training to sense the location of the studs.
i asimov honestly, just knocking your wall is more effective than a stud finder 99.999% of the time 😂
I knew of a stud finder that worked... Well...the stud ended up being a dud....so she had to work.
Just find it odd they repeatedly talked about quasi-soundproofing with extra drywall then put a big old vent between the two rooms.

I love when you make secret rooms! It's such a fun thing. That's a neat trick to set the depth of the plunge router to the exact depth of the hinge. And I really could have used that Multi-Max when I was hanging drywall a few months ago! Great build and video!
Wait a sec, you doubled the sheet rock for soundproofing but then add a cross vent?
They aren't that bright.
I mean they need to breath right?
@@triforceblader03 adding a vent isn't going to do much, it'll allow for air to enter.. But there isn't enough airflow to circulate throughout the room.
This is why you dont build an extra room without connecting the AC to the new room.. Imagine being stuck in a room with no air flow besides for the tiny ass vent.. It'll be stuffy as fuck.
I used to live in an added room that actually contained the AC vent for a much larger room and was sequestered off from whatever lets the AC know when to shut off, so my room was always freezing cold. In that way, I had the exact opposite problem from what you described.
well that can easily get remedied by installing another room temperature sensor for the HVAC system
This plan is absolutely perfect!
Now I maybe know wheres my dad was hiding all these years
I’m curious, if the walls were made to deaden the sound then why put vent covers on both sides with no duct work?
Because this whole project is mickey mouse
I'm guessing for air flow. If he's in there for hours, running a pc could get hot and not having fresh air would be no good.
@@anthonytheaker9060 I think the issue is any idea of sound deadening is completely out the window.
I was thinking the same thing about adding the vents. When adding the lights on the soffet they could have tapped into the trunk line and put its own vent and return in.
What I'm curious about is why the wall is empty inside? For sound deadening you can put some foam-like material, no? Is it because of some safety reasons I don't get?
who watches these but never do them?
Why would you do this lmao
No one
Dude you can't do this with your Phillips screwdriver YOU. NEED. TOOOOOOOOLSzz
Izzy Dizzy
Of ALL the things you've watched in your life, how many of them are of the things you actually do?
this would be pretty easy to do. even if you just have a spare room, you just put a wardrobe over the door and build the door into the back wall of the wardrobe. an exercise in pointlessness but it’s cool lmao
So Cool!!! I Love it & Admire the Creative Thinking behind it! What's even more Amazing is dreaming the thought up, and actually doing it. Very Cool! Very Cool!
this is actually my dream room, ever since I watched hannah montana when I was a kid up until now I want a room like that.
DUDE, you just blew my mind with that router depth trick! How have I never thought of that?
He's a pretty smart guy
I would be that person that would be really proud of my work that I would tell everyone about this then I could never use it because everyone knows and now everyone wants me to make one for them
I dyed, my hair, everyone loved it, soooo! I was proud, and said, I did it myself. They asked me to do theirs, for free, drove me crazy, you are correct on your comment.

Wait. A "secret room" behind a "guest" bedroom.
So when you have a guest - how do you get to the secret room?
That's the secret.
There’s another door...
Second door obviously how else is he going to watch them sleep
But... I assumed the other door was a bathroom...
more importantly, how do you get out? lol (yeah I know I see the other door)
I like the part where they install the wall on top of the carpeting.

If that room ever floods, they will regret that decision.
The first thing I thought when I saw the title was "Narnia?!?!?" Lol
Yeah me too, I dream of a version of this where the wardrobe is more Narnia like and it leads into a fancy tabletop gaming room.
What the heck is narnia
Oh yeah. Narnia. Bloody good book!
A Complete Weirdo Try reading it. Great series
Love your videos and hope that you keep entertaining and inspiring us all
Btw. I did learn a few things. I am a project guy myself but haven't messed with any low voltage magnetic lock setups yet so that was cool too see. Love the video. Just wish is was more accessible for guys like me who don't have a $10k tool budget.
Pick up a tool now and then and eventually you will have a 10K tool set. Even if it's just a couple wrenches every couple weeks. You will be amazed how many tools you have after a couple years.
I liked this video. It was informing and entertaining. I really think I learned something and Look forward to trying something similar in the future. Thanks.
This is a good motivation/inspiration project or what we can do with a much-loved armoir that we don't any longer have space or a need for. I've always wanted a secret room, so, the armoir, which has a fantastic woven wood door, will be the entry to my closet sound booth!
