So cool. Little country stores helped build this country- they were a lifeline for folks in rural areas. My great grandfather owned and ran a general store in a little town in east Texas from the early 1920’s when he got back from fighting in WWI all the way up until the 1970’s. He was also the postmaster for his region and ran the post office out of his store.
Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow came into his store during their crime spree, wanting a place to hide out. He told them he wasn’t going to hide them, and that they had better head out to the deep woods if they were trying to hide. They said “ok” and left, didn’t steal anything or threaten him in any way.

I was born in Lafollette, grew up in Knoxville and have spent most of my life now "up North" in Penn. Whenever we travel back home to Knoxville to see our kin folk, we always stop for gas somewhere in southern VA or northern TN, take a big breath and say "we're home now" Your store and your family also make me feel that way. Love the 100 years. I live near a general store in upstate NY that is the longest known general store in business. Began in 1870 era. Still visit it regularly.
