- The community of White Rock, B.C., remains on edge as the hunt continues for a killer at large.
The seaside community’s beach promenade was the scene of two stabbings this week, one of them fatal.
Police have released a similar suspect description in both cases and are investigating if the incidents are connected.
As Global's Janet Brown reports, there are noticeably fewer people walking along the promenade and businesses are hurting because people are scared.

I live in a different province, and know someone from middle school who's just committed his third murder not even 2 weeks after being released from his 3 year sentence. They LITERALLY keep catching and releasing them after only 2-4 years of prison time for HOMICIDE... every single person I know who has a murdered loved one or friend has complained about them getting only 2-3 years on average for it, an absolute smack in the face for ANY justice system to let this happen often and brush it under the rug...

I don’t blame immigrants for wanting to leave Canada. I was born here and I want to leave. So disgusted with the soft on crime governments that allow crime and criminals to flourish meanwhile targeting law abiding citizens that try to defend themselves, their families or their property. I bet if either of those two men who were attacked tried to defend themselves they’d be sitting in jail right now. Time for a change.
Leaving isn’t how we invoke change. Plus he’s Punjabi, Punjabi’s don’t have a home anywhere, not even in India. The Indian government literally killed a Punjabi citizen in Surrey this year (proven by the government).
Situations like this are prevented when we live amongst each other, isolation emboldens hateful people to continue their violence against individuals. Punjabi’s have been persecuted (much like many smaller groups) everywhere they go, we know that better than anyone

He may not live in White Rock. The 321 bus comes from Surrey to White Rock. More than 3 black men live in Surrey. I take the bus and observe. I doubt he lives in White Rock.
So this black guy stabbed 2 ppl on 2 different days and had enough time to get to a bus stop wait for the bus and that casually made its way out of there without any law enforcement getting on this? What does the police even do ? Dress up, give some cellphone tickets and collect a paycheck lol this whole story is nuts.

This happened in north Vancouver a few years back. Same description. To sum it up it was "mental health". That seems to be the most viable excuse amoungst minorities these days. After all they've been subject to all sorts of racism and hardships. To be clear if the perp was white, this would be treated as a hate crime. This instance should be treated the same.

I think the suspect is not from White Rock. Might have used transit. Police have a description & must have CCTV footage.
Police should look into the Bus CCTVs or ask for help from the Bus commuters, especially after the incident.

Cops don't have a choice but to release them. They're following existing laws and protocols that are in place. Trust me, they work so hard and oftentimes put their own lives in danger to catch these criminals, they don't want to release them but they don't make the laws, they only enforce them. I disagree with this whole catch and release system and think it should be changed, just wanted to clarify.

There was a man shot 2 blocks from me 2 years ago. The cops haven't found the shooter and ask the public for information. Don't do anything to defend yourself, that would be vigilanteism and YOU will be accountable. Canada's priorities are wacky and everything is done half-assed at best.

Well it's a slightly wealthier tourist area it has less crime than downtown Surrey or Vancouver or Victoria still likely they expect everyone just get used to increased crime and violence or the police will expect a bigger budget and it will still continue to worsen Vancouver has the highest paid cops in the country but when a black man was reported to be intimidating a couple of women on the seawall a year ago the cops detained the first black supreme court justice forty years older than the suspect instead of catching the actual culprit I have no faith in police or society anymore.
There's a shop that carries bear spray and plastic knuckles incase of cougar attack.

I used to go there for walks around the pier with my family and all the time the police heavily patrols that area. I don't think they can do much about it tbh. The justice system has to get a grip and punish criminals accordingly. People start losing faith in the justice system in this country anyways...Canada used to be a safer place, i undestand them completely if they want to go back.
