0:03 looks like old fashion Pilipino style for women. it was called "classic filipiniana dress" and it was also historical for women dressing it up. when I was a kid, my parents always dress me that only cost of 3 or 4 or 5 dollars. or more then that. I always wears them in school if it was national day and it was a best best day of my life. but wearing it was embressing when I get older

Ohhh you’re gonna blow up I can feel it! I love the dress and now I want to make one, never made a dress before though.... could I ask how much fabric you bought for it?
AHHH good luck making your very first dress! ❤️ I bought 3.25 yards and ended up using about 2.5 yards (that’s an overestimate, but it’s a good amount just to be safe)
This is so beautiful!!! The fabric looks so smooth, the colour is beautiful and I adore the dress! I'm adding this to my sewing projects! Are there any projects you'd recommend for beginners ?
Thank you so much! ☺️❤️ the first thing I ever made was a pair of shorts! You can trace a pair of shorts that you already own and I recommend using elastic in your waistband! Fitted waistbands are a little complicated for beginners because of the zippers, so I only made clothing with elastic for probably a year before I got the courage to try out zippers. Good luck! 💜

Hi! I got this fabric from the challis section of my fabric store, but unfortunately I don’t know that exact name of the fabric since my store doesn’t label fabrics :( I do think that my fabric is similar to georgette, just thicker and not sheer (like georgette usually is). You should maybe research fabrics that fall under the challis category to see which one you would like or go to the fabric store and touch the fabrics to see which one is best! ❤️
I went to my local fabric store and got this fabric from the “challis” section! Challis is an umbrella term so there are a lot of smaller categories under it (like georgette, satin, chiffon). I’m pretty sure this fabric is close to chiffon, but definitely on the thicker side and not transparent. I wish I knew the exact name of the fabric, but the best method for choosing fabric is going to the store and touching them to see which one you like best! ❤️
Omgosh' you are too precious!! I love how you mess up and own it following an amazing "FIX" I hope you know how exceptional your attitude in running into mistakes is!! I am a total fan! I am super Brand new at this. I must say! Praise God I ran across you in my search engine!! I'd love to subscribe but don't know howto do anything other than bookmark!! Again!! Wow!! You make silly little mishaps so sweet to endure.. dont ever stop being so perfectly imperfect!! So sweet.. inspired by far!! Awesome
The confidence of cutting out the skirt without marking it, I will say that I was nervous while watching but pleasantly surprised when it turned out fine lol
Oh this is so beautiful. What a coincidence I had the screen shot of the exact same dress and was about to make it. I had figured out the bodice, but not how the sleeves would be attached to it.Your dress turned out so beautiful! You just gained a new subscriber from India.
It’s just like fate! I’m so glad that this video helped you figure out the sleeves, if you need more help I’ll gladly explain it more in-depth ❤️ Thank you so much for subscribing 🥰
May I ask where you've learned to sew? I haven't gotten past making scrunchies on my sewing machine because I'm afraid to mess up the fabric and waste materal :')
I learned on RUclips! I watched channels like Coolirpa, With Wendy, and Annika Victoria to learn how to sew (I didn’t attempt sewing just yet, I just watched SO MANY tutorials). Eventually the first thing I ever made was a denim skirt that I upcycled from jeans! I definitely recommend watching tutorials before attempting sew something big; by watching so many tutorial, I just absorbed all the information until I believed I was ready to start a project. I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT!! Good luck!! 🥰
I got this fabric from the challis section of my fabric store! Challis is a pretty wide category that has a lot of smaller categories under it like satin, georgette, and chiffon. I think my fabric is close to chiffon but a little rougher and completely opaque (chiffon is typically transparent) but unfortunately I don’t know the specific name 😞 the best thing to do though is to go to your fabric store and look at the fabrics in person!
So glad I found your channel this early! In a few months when you have millions of subs I’ll be able to say I’ve been here from the beginning hahaha ❤️ love your videos ❤️
WOW congrats!!! Just to make sure I give you the right info, are you asking about the fabric for the prom dress that I made (which I included a pic of in my bodices video) or are you asking about the fabric I used to make this puff sleeve dress in this video?
I drafted my pattern on my dress form, but you can check out my most recent video to find different methods to create the bodice! I used challis for this dress, which is a very broad category and contains a lot of different categories like satin and chiffon. I think my fabric is close to georgette but I’m not exactly sure because my local fabric store doesn’t label fabrics, but you should check out your own fabric store. I think this dress would also look lovely in satin, which is what I used to create my own prom dress, or tulle! ❤️
I’m pretty sure this fabric is chiffon, but it’s the type of chiffon that is thicker and not transparent (some chiffon can be REALLY see-through) if you’re looking for a fabric, you should go to your local fabric store and just touch all the fabrics to see which one feels best, that’s what I always do! 💜
I used the sweetheart bustier draping tutorial on Daniela Tabois’s channel (she’s super talented and good at explaining draping!) I’m working on a video to explain different methods to make the pattern, so hopefully that helps you when I get it out to you! ❤️
I'm so glad I found your channel because that is such an easier way to do over the shoulder elastic, so I'm finally going to make myself a poofy sleeve shirt! And I just love this on address! It's like Cinderella and jazmin's costumes combined for the cutest thing I've ever seen
I’m so glad you found me too ❤️ I wish you the best of luck with making your dress! I’ve gotten a couple comments comparing the dress to Disney princesses I think it’s the sweetest thing ever so thank you 🥺

OH MY GOSH how exciting that you started learning so recently! You know when I made this video I didn’t even realize that so many videos that I watched didn’t include mistakes but after seeing everybody say that it helped, I’m glad that I included them! ❤️
I love the dress but also i want to say that you made me feel good about myself today because I sort of look like you and I am like “huh, she’s pretty, maybe I’m pretty too.” :)

Not me finally deciding to make this two months later and making the same mistake as you, then having to buy more fabric even though I'm already broke🤦♀️🤦♀️
That dress is so cute! Watching this video took me back to when I started sewing (especially when you traced out the sleeve from a sweatshirt). It turned out so cute. Tragic that you weren't able to stunt your prom dress, but there will be plenty of time to stunt it in the future 😌 You're doing great! Keep it up 🤩
You are a gem!!! Love that you showed the mess ups, fixes and successes 🙂 it helps me learn along with you. Thank you very much for this video and your time!!!
This is the most realistic sewing video I’ve ever seen. 😂 “As ye sew, so shall ye rip.” Thank you so much for sharing your process!!! You are not the only seamstress ripping and ripping and ripping 😂😂😂 the end result is lovely!!
this is so cute!! i made a bustier earlier today and was thinking of adding puffy sleeves to them as well (the reason i stumbled upon your video!), so ty for your clear explanation of the sleeves! my under arm isn’t curved though but i’m sure i’ll figure it out
@@AnikaSews ohh that’d be wonderful! it’s a straight line on a slight angle going up to the front (i used Brunaticality’s “how to make a sweetheart bustier pattern with measurements” video as a guide for the pattern and adjusted it to fit me well). i don’t have the fabric i want to use for the sleeves yet so i can’t try yet, but i’m thinking i’ll attach the sleeve to the bodice similarly to how you did it, just to the straight seam, and then make a tunnel for elastic over my shoulder. my one concern is that the straight line will pull down the sleeve too much, but i think it’ll be trial and error once i have the fabric. worst case scenario i make a new bustier with a curved underarm. would love to hear any suggestions though!! 💗
Ooooh have I got the video for you! If you check out my most recent video, I explained 5 methods that you can use to create the bodice and for the 2nd method I actually referenced Brunaticality’s video! If you watch that video, I actually explain how to adjust the pattern to add an armhole because you will need an armhole to add the sleeve unfortunately, I’m sad because you worked so hard on your bustier 😞 I do think that you’ll have to make a new bustier (just the side front and back pieces though!) but it’s easy! I’m gonna go over there right now and add a time stamp to the description so that you can jump right to the part where I explain how to adjust the pattern 😉🥰
@@AnikaSews ahhh omg tysm!! i saw that video earlier today and saved it to my watch later! tbh the bustier i made today isn’t as neat as it could be anyways so might as well remake it and add the curved underarm. thank you so much for your help!

You dress turned out sweet. Just a pro tip for next time? Pause @2:48 you _needed_ to add in some darts... in there... the bust/ arm section, the piece there that's in your right hand. Both sides & the lining part too. This helps your bust to curve to our body & not stick up there in front. _Try_ to think of making clothing as we're creating _soft 3D sculptures,_ that we wear. Plus, we need our "3D sculptures" to stay in place & look great in all the right places, while we move around & dance. Never stop dancing & creating!💕

I love the fact that she tell us the mistake she made ! It prevent us for doing the same error and it show us that we can messed up a little (It's not the biggest deal ever)
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING THIS!! I need a dress VERY similar to this for a costume and this helped so much!! Not to mention it was the only tutorial where the person sewing a) didn't go into crazy unneeded detail b) showed where they messed up and c) didn't talk a million miles an hour-
Your dress looks way better than the dress you took inspiration from.. I love when that happens lol.
When I tapped on the video I just assumed you cut the sleeves off of a normal dress and then made new ones..
It’s such good quality!
AWWWW thank you so much!!! So glad I changed it up for myself I’m so happy with the end result!!! 🥰
@@AnikaSews
You’re welcome! I think I might make something like this when I get the proper material.
I would want really big sleeves like you, lol.
YESSSS the sleeves are the best part!!! 🤩
I LOVE how much you messed up at the beginning of each part of the dress, I personally mess it up way more so this made me feel better, at the end you make something beautiful and I hope you get to enjoy using it soon
Anika thank you! I can’t wait to get to the fabric store, I hope it goes well😁
This video was the final thing that pushed my dream of sewing my first dress into reality! I can’t thank you enough 😊
Good luck! 💜
I just got a sewing machine and I’m trying to learn to sew. You are so young and you made the dress so beautiful and you explained things so realistically while advising us not to make certain mistakes, your channel will blow up even more one day and I can’t wait to watch more videos!!
THANK YOU ❤️ it’s so nice to see that you believe in me 🥺 I wish you the absolute best of luck learning how to sew!!! I learned how to sew from channels like With Wendy, Coolirpa, and Annika Victoria if you want to check them out ❤️
@@AnikaSews OH MY GOSH I'VE BEEN BINGING THEM SO MUCH RECENTLY! I can't wait to learn more about sewing and hats off to you for being so knowledgeable about it! Thanks for recommending me those channels! You are so kind!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH 🥰 you are going to be a great sewer I know it!! ❤️
@@AnikaSews AHHH THANK YOU SO MUCCHHH!!!
this is the kind of dress I want for my 8th grade gradutaion and I REALLY want to make it cuz i don't want to spend a ton of money
YOU SHOULD MAKE IT!!! The best part of making clothes is the hundreds of dollars you will save!! ❤️
Girl Make it!!!!
You are hilarious! Loved watching this, I really appreciate that you included your mistakes and how you fixed them ❤️ I am obsessed with the sleeves so I'm really glad you showed the process you used to expand them.
Wow that dress is beautiful I'm trying to make one similar but I don't think it'll turn out as well lol
Of course it will!!! You can do it girl ❤️
You're so funny the way you are sassy to yourself for making mistakes. I absolutely love how the dress looks. I hope to recreate this soon.
heyy ive been searching for this look and silhouette and you did fantastic 😍, but may i ask for the bodice pattern and the sewn together part more detailed? im sorry for the fuss
No don’t be sorry!! I’m going to be making a video on different methods to create the bodice since a lot of people have been asking so I’ll cover how to sew it as well (wasn’t even thinking about the sewing part, so thank you for the suggestion!) bear with me for a little bit, your girl is busyyyy so I’ll try to get it out as soon as possible 🥰
@@AnikaSews yayy thats wonderful, thank you for your hard work, do it at your comfortable phase okayy❤️
I appreciate ypu showing us your mistakes
Makes it feel more relatable and realistic. Mistakes happens always. Perfect videos with no issues are discouraging when you are not a professional
What fabric did u used?
The fabric is so nice
this was so chaotic i loved it and i also appreciated that you didn't shy away from your mistakes!
LMAO thank you so much 🥰
This is BEAUTIFUL. I really hope i can make one exactly like this
Thank you so much! 💙 It’s my absolute FAVORITE dress now!! I completely believe in you, I hope you have fun making it ☺️
@@AnikaSews Do you know what kind if fabric you used? Since i want it to look just as swishy😊
@@AnikaSews Thank you. Yes fabrics can be so confusing sometimes and like you said the best way is to feel them yourself. Xx
Awesome
I think the sleeves would have looked even cuter if u had made sleeves with a net fabric..
Even this is cute 😙❤️
But just wanted to give a suggestion😅
Btw which fabric is this she used did u knw ?!
The confidence of cutting out the skirt without marking it, I will say that I was nervous while watching but pleasantly surprised when it turned out fine lol
HAHAHA maybe I should start marking it out but I’ll be honest...I just get too impatient 😅
Thank you so much, this dress is PERFECT for a cosplay I wanna do!! 🌹
YAY IM SO HAPPY!!! 💜
Well you're constantly making quality content, why wouldn't I subscribe? :p
Good luck!! 🥰
Anika what fabric do u use btw??
I got this fabric from the challis section of my fabric store! Challis is a pretty wide category that has a lot of smaller categories under it like satin, georgette, and chiffon. I think my fabric is close to chiffon but a little rougher and completely opaque (chiffon is typically transparent) but unfortunately I don’t know the specific name 😞 the best thing to do though is to go to your fabric store and look at the fabrics in person!
So glad I found your channel this early! In a few months when you have millions of subs I’ll be able to say I’ve been here from the beginning hahaha ❤️ love your videos ❤️
You’re so sweet!!! Thank you so much 🥺🥰
Question. I'm sewing my own prom dress and I designed a dress that looks like the one you made. what fabric did you use?
WOW congrats!!! Just to make sure I give you the right info, are you asking about the fabric for the prom dress that I made (which I included a pic of in my bodices video) or are you asking about the fabric I used to make this puff sleeve dress in this video?
@@AnikaSews for the puff-sleeved dress. do you have a pattern for the bustier? I'm having trouble drafting one.
@@AnikaSews thank you muchly!
love seeing another Indian girl my age into sewing! definitely subscribed, you're really talented
YESSSS look at us desi girls!!! Thank you so much 💚💚
What fabric did you use, please? ):
I’m pretty sure this fabric is chiffon, but it’s the type of chiffon that is thicker and not transparent (some chiffon can be REALLY see-through) if you’re looking for a fabric, you should go to your local fabric store and just touch all the fabrics to see which one feels best, that’s what I always do! 💜
It looks like crepe georgette
I love ur vids to the point where i watch it over and over again everyday 😂
OH MY GOSH HAHAHA
Exactly what I need in my life. What bustier pattern did you use? I can’t seem to find any like that which would accommodate a 38” bust :((
I used the sweetheart bustier draping tutorial on Daniela Tabois’s channel (she’s super talented and good at explaining draping!) I’m working on a video to explain different methods to make the pattern, so hopefully that helps you when I get it out to you!
I’ve gotten a couple comments comparing the dress to Disney princesses I think it’s the sweetest thing ever so thank you 🥺
oh that was lovely :DD i rly don't understand a single shit you're saying but that was rly enjoyable and the final dress looked amazing on you !! :D
HAHAHA thank you for watching anyways!!! 🥰
YOU'RE TOO UNDERRATED GURLLL!!! YOU LOOK SO GORGEOUSSS!!
OH MY GOSH THANK YOU 🥰🥰🥰
@@AnikaSews No problem!!
Hey i was wondering if you can possibly show us the pattern for the top part I really want to recreate this dress🥺
Hi there! I have a whole video explaining how to make the bodice, you can choose a method according to your skill level!! 🥰
That turned out so cute!! I’m trying to make my own puffy sleeve dress out of a sleeveless bodice and kept messing up the sleeves! This actually really helps, thank you!
AWWW I’m so glad it helps, good luck!!! 🥰
welp, time to get a seWinG MachIne-
YES IT IS 🤩
I really like the fact that you actually made mistakes and showed them to us too! Most sewing videos are done at once and it looks like I'm a fool for making these mistakes (Though I'm a beginner 😅 I started learning tailoring about 2 months ago) thanks anyways for the video! The dress is so beautiful
OH MY GOSH how exciting that you started learning so recently! You know when I made this video I didn’t even realize that so many videos that I watched didn’t include mistakes but after seeing everybody say that it helped, I’m glad that I included them! ❤️
If you ever want to sell your clothes creations, I’d totally buy them!
Awww thank you so much 🥺🥰
I love the dress but also i want to say that you made me feel good about myself today because I sort of look like you and I am like “huh, she’s pretty, maybe I’m pretty too.” :)
What kind of fabric is that?
This is the first video I've watched from this channel and I'm in love with your energy. You're gorgeous ❤
Time to go raid the fabric store hehehhehehe....
YES GO DO IT HAHAHA
Hey xx Could you possibly make a tutorial for the bustier pattern?? Like with how you did the measurements and put everything together?? I really love the design and want to try it out.
Also, loved the way this dress turned out xxx 😍😍
Oh my gosh just saw your comment! I actually released a video a couple days ago explaining how to make the bustier so you should check it out! ❤️
am i the only person who wants to buy this dress when she makes her own clothing store called Anika Designs?
Istg literally watched your videos over and over again, it’s so calming for some reason. Thank you ! 😌❤️
AWWWW thank you so much 🥺
Not me finally deciding to make this two months later and making the same mistake as you, then having to buy more fabric even though I'm already broke🤦♀️🤦♀️
HAHAHAHAHA
That dress is so cute! Watching this video took me back to when I started sewing (especially when you traced out the sleeve from a sweatshirt). It turned out so cute. Tragic that you weren't able to stunt your prom dress, but there will be plenty of time to stunt it in the future 😌 You're doing great! Keep it up 🤩
AWWWW thank you so much 🥰🥰🥰 keeping my fingers crossed for a prom this year, I want to make a new dress and STUNT 🤩
You are a gem!!! Love that you showed the mess ups, fixes and successes 🙂 it helps me learn along with you. Thank you very much for this video and your time!!!
AWWW THANK YOU SO MUCH 🥺
This is the most realistic sewing video I’ve ever seen. 😂 “As ye sew, so shall ye rip.” Thank you so much for sharing your process!!! You are not the only seamstress ripping and ripping and ripping 😂😂😂 the end result is lovely!!
this is so cute!! i made a bustier earlier today and was thinking of adding puffy sleeves to them as well (the reason i stumbled upon your video!), so ty for your clear explanation of the sleeves! my under arm isn’t curved though but i’m sure i’ll figure it out
Oh my gosh I’m happy that it helped you! What shape is your underarm? Maybe I can help?
Of course!! GOOD LUCK I believe in you 🥰
Girl, what you made deserves the price more than it did with the dress from reformation.
I got invited to a wedding this December and we were requested to wear a Navy Blue formal dress for that and YES, I wanted to wear a Puff dress but it will be very expensive to buy so Im thinking of sewing it out instead. Thank you for this idea! I really love how you sew it! 💗💗🖤
HOW EXCITING!!! I wish you good luck with your project and I hope you enjoy wearing it at the beautiful wedding 💙💙💙
just noting that im here while your ar 12.9k so i can say ive been here since the beginning when you get big
AWWWW thank you so much 🥺🥰
Omg girllll this dress look sooo cute!! The fabric the color everything is so pretty
Ahhh thank you so much!! 🥰
I haven't watched the whole video yet but I'm really loving this channel! I'm so glad I found it and I'm sure this vid will be so helpful. Thank you! I completely love your vibe. I even just subscribed! I'm really excited to see more of your videos. Keep up the amazing work! ❤️❤️❤️
THANK YOU SO MUCH 🧡🧡🧡
You dress turned out sweet. Never stop dancing & creating!💕
this was the most entertaining video i have watched all day THANK YOUUU
I've subscribed because you show your mistakes and I absolutely adore that to bits. The dress was gorgeous and so are you Xx
