    Thanks for this, you are the only person I could find who did a full teardown and rebuild including driving out the races, and going out to buy new parts. Really helpful in doing a rebuild on my utility trailer.

    Hi Mr Smith, I tried calling you leaving a message over this past week but unfortunately I never received a call back. However I wanted to thank you personally for the videos you put out here and part two. We have successfully completed a full replacement of new hubs and bearing sets thanks to your videos on a tandem trailer I own. We were confused a tiny bit on a older model system hence the call to you however figured it out thankfully. Thank you once again for all that you have taught with your outstanding teaching skills .

    Excellent video! I'm a Michigander but about 20 years ago I briefly moved to Searcy and l found the people surprisingly friendly and really enjoyed exploring the area and seeing the natural beauty. I lived west of town on 405 and the hills out there were quite scenic. I once visited the Heber Springs area and thought that would be a great place to retire. Arkansas in general gets a bad rap for being backward and full of hillbillies, but if you give it a chance and come there with an open mind, you'll find it's a pleasant place and definitely worth a visit. Keep up the great work!

    I've been checking out several vids on how to do this procedure. This two-part was by far the most informative and clear. It gave me the background to figure out things for myself - I like that. Thanks for a well produced and easy to follow explanation.

    Excellent video. After viewing other video's on trailer bearing service your video is the best. You are the first to show how to pre-check the lateral bearing travel with the tires on. The step by step instructions, guides even the novice in making such repairs. The close-up views are excellent, especially when showing the viewer the wear on the inner races. Thanks Again

    serious question,is a bearing buddy a needless crutch? seems like regular maint. would be enough not just putting more grease on a bad bearing???? I work in an automotive repair shop and I am thinking of getting a small boat this season

    • @DanA-ix7ms
      @DanA-ix7ms 8 лет назад

      The idea of a bearing buddy is to keep slight positive pressure so water doesn't seep in when the hubs are submerged during launch and retrieval. I agree with your reasoning for utility trailers that shouldn't ever be submerged. Enjoy some of the RUclips vids on boat launching and don't be "that guy." Happy boating!

    Great video and so glad to see you suggest to replace the cotter pin. Way to many people make instructional videos who are unwilling to accept they might be doing something wrong because "that's how daddy taught me". Well a 30 cent part can screw everything up, maybe kill people or at the least make you look a complete moron. This should be the only trailer bearing video allowed.

  • @GmGarlo

    so if you didn't have the little hole to get rid of the excess grease , could you blow out your back seal by adding too much grease?

    • @aguyandhiscomputer

      GmGarlo
      Yes

    • @GrantSR
      @GrantSR 6 лет назад

      Yes, but... The Bearing Buddy device has both the grease nipple AND the hole. So, only if the hole is really clogged up tight, would there be a problem. Just makes sure the hole is clear before you start, and you are good to go.

      Burnt Taco I disagree. I've done lots of bearing/seal repacking or replacement on vehicles, trailers and airplanes. I like to take the hub to my workbench to thoroughly clean it and to press the seal in.
