D-Rays bearing videos are the most comprehensive with no BS. Don't waste your time watching any others, these are the only ones you'll need! Thanks, D-Ray!
Thanks for this, you are the only person I could find who did a full teardown and rebuild including driving out the races, and going out to buy new parts. Really helpful in doing a rebuild on my utility trailer.
Hi Mr Smith, I tried calling you leaving a message over this past week but unfortunately I never received a call back. However I wanted to thank you personally for the videos you put out here and part two. We have successfully completed a full replacement of new hubs and bearing sets thanks to your videos on a tandem trailer I own. We were confused a tiny bit on a older model system hence the call to you however figured it out thankfully. Thank you once again for all that you have taught with your outstanding teaching skills .
Excellent video! I'm a Michigander but about 20 years ago I briefly moved to Searcy and l found the people surprisingly friendly and really enjoyed exploring the area and seeing the natural beauty. I lived west of town on 405 and the hills out there were quite scenic. I once visited the Heber Springs area and thought that would be a great place to retire. Arkansas in general gets a bad rap for being backward and full of hillbillies, but if you give it a chance and come there with an open mind, you'll find it's a pleasant place and definitely worth a visit. Keep up the great work!
I've been checking out several vids on how to do this procedure. This two-part was by far the most informative and clear. It gave me the background to figure out things for myself - I like that. Thanks for a well produced and easy to follow explanation.
Excellent video. After viewing other video's on trailer bearing service your video is the best. You are the first to show how to pre-check the lateral bearing travel with the tires on. The step by step instructions, guides even the novice in making such repairs. The close-up views are excellent, especially when showing the viewer the wear on the inner races. Thanks Again
You all probably dont give a shit but does any of you know of a method to log back into an Instagram account? I somehow lost my password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me!
@Jamal Shepherd I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im trying it out atm. I see it takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
“Got a little water coming out of ‘dere’, that ‘doedn’t’ look good, does it??” No it don’t! Funny, informative trailer bearing video!! Nice job!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Besides a great how to video showing how to change out the bearings, you gave an awesome explanation of the two common boat trailer bearing lube systems and how to use them. Perfect video.
To ALL of you so-and-so people who try to make a "how to" video, THIS is how it is done!! Show every step, explain every step, speak clearly and give as many options as possible.
Did I miss the part about how to figure out what size bearings you need, or just bring them with you when you go to pick them up to make sure you buy the right size. I use a cheap vernier that can measure in inch. metric, or fractions.
Great job! Very good video! My only suggestion would be to buy a box of cheap plastic gloves to put on to keep those pretty hands and fingernails cleaner. But maybe your allergic to latex?
At 6:55 into that video you said "I'm not gonna be very careful..." and whoops with that screwdriver, at least you didn't hit the red stuff. Great video!
serious question,is a bearing buddy a needless crutch? seems like regular maint. would be enough not just putting more grease on a bad bearing???? I work in an automotive repair shop and I am thinking of getting a small boat this season
The idea of a bearing buddy is to keep slight positive pressure so water doesn't seep in when the hubs are submerged during launch and retrieval. I agree with your reasoning for utility trailers that shouldn't ever be submerged. Enjoy some of the RUclips vids on boat launching and don't be "that guy." Happy boating!
Great video and so glad to see you suggest to replace the cotter pin. Way to many people make instructional videos who are unwilling to accept they might be doing something wrong because "that's how daddy taught me". Well a 30 cent part can screw everything up, maybe kill people or at the least make you look a complete moron. This should be the only trailer bearing video allowed.
Yes, but... The Bearing Buddy device has both the grease nipple AND the hole. So, only if the hole is really clogged up tight, would there be a problem. Just makes sure the hole is clear before you start, and you are good to go.
Burnt Taco I disagree. I've done lots of bearing/seal repacking or replacement on vehicles, trailers and airplanes. I like to take the hub to my workbench to thoroughly clean it and to press the seal in.

@Jamal Shepherd It did the trick and I actually got access to my account again. I am so happy:D
Thanks so much, you saved my account :D
@Marshall Brixton No problem =)
These two videos were a big help, thank you and cheers from Canada.
Best trailer bearing video on RUclips. Thanks for taking the time to make this!
Jumping over to pt 2! Very clear and easy to understand. Exactly what I needed.
D-Ray, you da best, I could listen to that lovely accent all day.
Thanks for the video. I'm changing the bearings for my boat trailer now.
2019 and this video is still helping people! Thank you!
Helped me!!
I bet a lot of work went into making such a smooth, simple video. Best bearing removal tutorial out there hands down.
Dan A fjrfn
Just re-did my bearings using this video. Followed it exactly, no problems and I am good to go.
“Got a little water coming out of ‘dere’, that ‘doedn’t’ look good, does it??”
No it don’t!
Funny, informative trailer bearing video!!
Nice job!!

Outstanding video..where were you 40 years ago when I was teaching myself how to do this on my trailer...and!!! I learned how to really do it right!!!
I am always passing thru searcy arkansas. kind of cool that i happenstance'd on your video. Beautiful country out there
recently needed to repair my trailer bearings. This video was absolutely clear and made things much easier.
As everyone else has mentioned, this is an excellent video! Thank you for taking the time to put it together! (Now I am off to watch Part 02!)
Great video. Any videos on repairing a drop spindle? Having trouble figuring out how to square it up perfect to weld them back on.
This is the definitive video on the subject. Please make many more. Bravo!
How can you drive into town if you don't have your bearing?
Best bearing replacement to date.
Awesome video. Thanks for the information!
Thanks D-Ray! This vid helped me get my bearings. Hubba Hubba!
To ALL of you so-and-so people who try to make a "how to" video, THIS is how it is done!! Show every step, explain every step, speak clearly and give as many options as possible.
Great Video thank you! Great music too.
Great video. Can't figure out why 15 people thought of giving it a thumbs down. I'll just add that to another one of those life mysteries.
Reinforced what I was taught a looooong time ago. Excellent video! Love his French accent lol.
D-Ray......U r the Truth man!!! Oorah brother.....Oorah!
Thanks for taking the time to make the video DRay. Nicely done with some great tip. GR from Australia
Thanks! Needed some guidance on this.
Great video and very well explained. Sometimes I just replace the hub as well.
Great video. I wonder if buying the hub assembly’s and swapping them out isn’t the simplest way?
Simplest? Absolutely. Cost effective? Probably not.
I didn’t know that Sunrise had bearing kits. Would’ve been there a week ago - good to know for next time
Fine job. And you have a pleasant, engaging manner.
Fantastic job
Life saver! Thank you sir!
Great Video D-Ray. You sure helped me learn the process.
Thanks for this great video.well explained.
From raymond smith...lol
Lucky your reese,s came out that easy. Had a inner that was rusted in good that took some pounding ! Ha.
Lets get fishing ! Cheers
Okay, but IMO use brass (soft) rod or dowel to remove/replace the races, if you don't press them out and back in like you should.
Grate video.Thank You Sir

Great video love my G3👍
Great video.. Q: How will I know what size of race & bearings to get ? Are they all the same on trailers ? thanks
Right on man, thanks for taking the time to make the video. Looks like I'll have a winter project for my double-axle trailer. =)
Excellent video sir
Great job! Very good video! My only suggestion would be to buy a box of cheap plastic gloves to put on to keep those pretty hands and fingernails cleaner. But maybe your allergic to latex?
Great video thank you
excellent video, step by step instruction, I bet I can do it myself now , thanks a lot
Great video, lots of info, thanks for making this!
The piece of plywood underneath, when removing the hub, invaluable!
Awesome video. Thank you for making this!
Great video!
Great super video! Thank you!
He man this is a one hell of a video, thank you for your time and effort.
Great video. Very well explained!
Where can I pick up replacement parts for everything for my hub?
Excelent video!
Can you swap out the bearing buddies with the spring with the more traditional type?
Thank you Sir for a good video.
Hey I know this old but hey enjoyed it!! Very educational!!
you can remove the rear race and the seal by hitting on the inner race punching on the outer race, knocking out the seal first then the rear race.
What’s your way to handle a broken grease spindle? My spindle snapped off when regressing...? Thank you sir
Love your Hill Billy accent!
GREAT JOB MY FRIEND !!!!
thanks for the diy ! well done
At 6:55 into that video you said "I'm not gonna be very careful..." and whoops with that screwdriver, at least you didn't hit the red stuff. Great video!
Excellent video sir. Thank you so much! I'll be doing my trailer bearings today.
44 dislikes! Really people? Best video for this procedure bar none.
Big Rob0918 no kidding. I don’t know what they expect....assholes🙈
Amen

I just put some grease in my boat trailer hubs an I seen the back of the hub moving out the back. Is that good or bad?
I think i have the second one you showed in this video too.
KILLER VIDEO!!! THANKS!!!
Any idea why a dust cover will not stay on the hub. Thanks
D Ray you the man
"Can ya hook a brother up?" "Let's get it done."
thank you

so if you didn't have the little hole to get rid of the excess grease , could you blow out your back seal by adding too much grease?
GmGarlo
Yes
Yes, but... The Bearing Buddy device has both the grease nipple AND the hole. So, only if the hole is really clogged up tight, would there be a problem. Just makes sure the hole is clear before you start, and you are good to go.
Great job thanks for you time
Orange handled hand tool is not called pliers, they are called dikes, or sometimes side-cutters. Anyway, very good video.
HOOK A BROTHA UP !
How old is the trailer
if the races are smooth can I leave them in place and just replace the bearing and the seal?
No. The races are what wears. If you have bad spots on rollers then the race has bad spots.
great!Thanks
Bravo
Thanks, buddy :).
Ar kansas lol I miss living in the mid south
good job now i know how to take it apart lol.
How will I know if the hub needs be replaced?
Jack trailer up and try and move the tire and if it wobbles or when you turn it makes an unusual noise then you need new hubs or new bearings
well done thanks alot
thanks i like you big help
helpful -thanks
good
Is it ok to work on a trailer with a large boat still aboard?
Yes it is.
It's a lot easier to work on the hub when the tire is left on
Burnt Taco I disagree. I've done lots of bearing/seal repacking or replacement on vehicles, trailers and airplanes. I like to take the hub to my workbench to thoroughly clean it and to press the seal in.
The hubs on my pontoon trailer had greasable spindles with zerks and also had bearing buddies on all four hubs. Go figure.
Yep i dont reuse the splitpins unless i have to, anyway its better to use new :-)
Yuck what a mess.
please see here more
