    When you are preyed upon by a bully you must make noise and have trust in your perception even if the people around you are corrupt and exploitative and tell you to keep quiet. Predatory personalities and bullies choose the victims which are weak and will not stand up to them. That is why we must teach our kids to be courageous and make noise where it is due!

    Jordan really make me feel like I’m ahead of my time, everything he says sounds too familiar to me!

    • @josephriddlestone4684
      @josephriddlestone4684 3 года назад +3

      Maybe it's familiar, because it's universally true? We've abandoned universal truth, which I think, at least in part has led some people with an appetite for truth, a need to have questions to answer, towards mysticism, complex philosophy, things they can consider hazy or unanswerable in some way. Why? Because it's convenient to have something that no matter how much you pick it apart, you will always have more to be 'unsure' of. Or to put it another way; ambivalent enough that there is no commitment or responsibility required. Of course all doctrines can be manipulated, or rather their interpretation can, but some basic truths do exist. I'm only 39 and in my small existence I've witnessed a regression, a regression of societal norms that have been framed as progression. I don't think moral relativism is progress, it's veiled nihilism.
      That's where I think JP is very important, it's not that he's saying anything progressive or profound (although he is capable of profundity at times), it's that he's realised there's a lack of basic truth in western civilisation at present. That's why he highlights simple stories that have endured millennia, that are so similar in multiple different cultures to illustrate his point. How come many different civilisations came to the same conclusions? Why have we chosen to ignore these truths?
      I think one has to integrate these more basic truths, before we can go beyond them. I see a very common pattern of people espousing highly complex and nuanced spirituality, whilst at the same time trying to convince themselves that polygamy is progressive. Mammals learnt mating for life was a good idea. t
      That's quite some regression, not just beyond our ancestors, but an entire subset of species.
      I think another way to look at familiarity as you put it, might be affirming, rather than thinking you're ahead of your time. Don't get me wrong, I've often felt like that too, so I'm not condeming you, it would be hypocritical. Nowadays, if someone or something sounds familiar to me, I'm drawn to them/it, not put off by them. The word familiar is derived from the word family after all. Or perhaps it was the other way round, I'm no linguist, but I know they synonymous in some say. It's easy to think 'oh, I already knew that', but there is a difference between knowing and living. The difference between knowledge and wisdom in my view.
      I think the fact that someone who discusses basic truths, albeit in a very articulate and confident way is considered in some way radical, is a measure of how lost we are as a species, not a lack of ingenuity on his part.

    What he says about bullies is very interesting, from my own experience bullies define and dehumanise you so they can act with impunity, you're not a human being but the definition they've attached to you, its the same as political slogans, the nazis isolated the jews as personae non grata by first defining them as a disrete demographic with the star of david and all the pertaining nonsense rhetoric used to justify the subsequent atrocities, there's a quote "given the excuse men will act badly with impunity"
