I have done this hundreds of times never had problems with moisture. As long as you pull good vacuum i see no need to replace dryer. My old boss did not feel the same he always wanted drier changed. And i have done same with pressure switch i like your style. This is real world refrigeration service.
I know that and you know that but technically if I'm going to try to be an example for the new guys it's not good not to follow protocol but sometimes you just can't do it. Thanks for understanding🤜🤛👍👍
I thought it interesting how clearly the other unit was visible through the condenser coil of the first one. If that pressure control was manufacturer supplied, I'm surprised they didn't put a grommet where the capillary tube went through.
Man truly enjoyed watching you and your process of working it out . Man I had a brand new 3 fan freeze could not get to temp eve n if I took X off clock finally found the defrost switch was ban out the gate replaced now coil stays clean and is holding-5 deg be safe Captain
chlorinated brake parts cleaner for the wasps. blast them from a distance, torch works fine if you can get close to them with stirring the pot. other fuel/oil products will likely work well. with delayed reaction.
Crazy watching you mess with the low pressure control Rick. We’re a bit north of you and have had to install fan cycle controls on our freezers. We’ve done this for 3-4 years now cuz the flooded head control, winter temperatures, and 404 don’t like each other….prevents short cycling with the lower ambients. And the anti short cycle always gets me too. I keep a jumper wire in my bag until I get the units dialed in. Dang frustrating wondering why you’re not running when you know you should. Great video!
You work on some pretty decent looking equipment. Seems like the stuff I work on is either old as hell, or fairly new. Unless we just installed it, and there’s some minor issue.
What size wool sweater was on that 2nd unit , I wear a 4XL 😂😅🤣 Even in a hurry , you still take time to do a 1st class job ... You da Man !!! Thx ... Hey to Lora ...
Nice job 👌 high pressure pump for your shower I bet it would get all the dirt off that'd be just one more use for it. And by the way Happy Father's Day a day in advance. Once again keep up the great work!
There is usually a locking plate on the adjustment screws on a KP1 (also KP17). Remember to put them back on. Othervise you risk that your pressostat can go out of adjustment.
@@HVACRSurvival Every time i change out a pressure switch, i take the old locking plate and screws with me. For back-up. They are important, because it's usually the "diff" that goes out of adjustment. and you risking that you system wil run i vacuum before it stops the compressor. And thats a really bad situation with leaky coils.
@@HVACRSurvival I probably see more Danfoss than you. It's industry standard where i live. In Denmark, and Danfoss is danish, But they still make some good products.
Good job Rick. I’ve been binging you videos lately. When pumping down systems and checking with a torch do you prefer receiver to be 3/4 full? I noticed in this video you were fine with about 1/2
1/2-3/4 is usually fine. The best thing I’ve done is charge to a full sight glass then add 15% more than the total you installed to reach a full sight glass.
wide flat aluminum tubes, with zigzag fins makes it easy to clean and less likely to plug. unlike some of the past equipment, where they use copper tubing (not the issue) with aluminum fins, which have splayed center fins that pug up wildly and are near impossible to clean. what they should have done? increase the size of condenser coils, vs. trying to make them more efficient at heat transfer. so pretty much what they're doing now days, LARGER is better, aka. more surface area is always better for heat transfer. I'm tired of garbage products and getting the "mine shaft", change is inevitable and major change is guaranteed the more stupendous they make things.
I was wondering about that nice vibrating pump on the top of the ladder. I think I would have wrapped a length of wire or some tie wraps around it to keep it from sliding off. I'd be hesitant of using bungies for that since they can stretch, and could still let it slide off the step.
It wasn't my first choice of strap but I didn't want to get my other ladder off the truck. I think I bumped it closer to the edge when I was reaching for something then it fell shortly after I got off the ladder.
Trying to put out fires right now is the best way to put it for the summer man I'm already beat from the Arizona heat 🥵 Just getting started too, Lord be with us all! 🙌🙏

Good job Rick, You seem less stressed which is good, stay positive. Everyone is going through a lot of difficulties these days.
🤣🤣🦆🦆 sometimes it gets to hot to stress. I slow way down when I overheat.
CRC Brake and Electric Motor cleaner works great for bees + you can use it to clean connections ECT.
I use silicone to secure capillary lines. Works pretty good taking vibration out
I have used that method to, it works great to👍👍. Thanks for sharing!

I dumped my CPS gauges after they started pissing liquid from the valves.
DUUUUDE u like HVAC SUPERHERO
June is always cottonwood season and lots of no cooling calls for HP trips. Nicely done Rick
post 1:50 is that like " Don't cross the streams" ghost busters classic 🤣🤣🤣
Yeah that portable pump is awesome!!
Great job Rick
you are a brave man,I don"t like washing units at 500 microns.good video thx.
I didn't think about that at the time but it's done now. 🤦🏻

Thank you Brian! That truly means a lot, I lost a great Saturday to ride editing this thing.
Nice professional repair
Thanks 👍
Great video Rick !
Love the commercial equipment videos
Seasoned vet… right away notices the oil for being low on gas.. Great work Rick
Thanks Rack Master🤜🤛🙌🙌👍👍

Thanks Rick! We have had to add a fan cycle controls before. We can hit neg 10f in the winter to rarely -15f

Wow. I thought it was a sheet of cardboard. You should start saving that stuff for packing fluff :)
🤣👍👍
Nice job
Thanks for checking it out🤜🤛👍👍
The tool at 2:35 is what I use when working with fiber optic. I cut and strip the 0.125mm inner core with it
I remember those from electronics class back in '93

It had it, it's interesting Ranco doesn't require the plate, I usually try to replace it but sometimes you lose the tiny screw🤦🏻

That's a good point. 👍👍We normally use ranco, the OEM equipment is the only way I see Danfoss on our systems.

Why did I think the vacuum pump was going to fall off the ladders oh no
Because you were thinking and I wasn't lol
Awesome video, that cooler condenser coil looks like nit sucked up a sheep
Good God. Thanks rick
Swampass busy indeed
I would have repaired that the exact same way.
Thanks Mike🤜🤛👍👍

¿ Why the switch to analog gauges when setting the pressure switch ?
As always, thanks for the ride-a-long and explanations!
Digital gauges refresh the pressures a bit on the slow side so it can be hard to tell what pressure your system is actually cutting in and out at.
Benjamin is correct, the refresh rate on digital isn't quick enough.
🇺🇸💪👍❄🙏 great vid. Thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge much appreciated.

The copper tube aluminum fin coils are always the ones you see rotten out and destroyed in HVACR's Videos

What’s that veto bag?
MB3. Regular bottom. I got it free with the mc backpack.
Little better class of equipment for you, eh? Quite the sweater on that one unit.
We sell fancy new stuff but That usually doesn't have many problems that make an interesting video. 🤦🏻🤣

No backup on a saddle valve is cringy as fuck
I was using a 6" set of pliers and it was a thick piece of brass into the copper. If it's tiny shit I will use a backup wrench.
Tie your vacuum pump with a ratchet band to secure it to the ladder helps prevent a Jeronimo 🪂
Lesson learned. That pissed me off, luckily it didn't break my equipment.
