One of the greatest bands to ever grace the stage. Loved Southside Johnny & the Jukes... still do. Always will!

If you were fortunate enough to see them live at this time, it was impossible to be any happier.

I did see them live - at the NewTheatre in Oxford, March 1976 - supporting Graham Parker and the Rumour, themselves pretty slick and highly rated. They blew them away. It was one of the best gigs I had ever been to.

Saw them many times -- front row many a times. One of the best concerts was the Palladium, New York City November 1979. We saw them from the front row in the balcony -- best bird's eye view ever. 3,600 people singing to the encore, "When You Dance". Richie "LaBamba" Rosenberg came on to the stage, trombone wailing like a elephant as the crowd stomped their feet calling "LaBamba, LaBamba, LaBamba"

I love East Coast Rock and Roll and Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes were THE BEST. The Miami Horns are fantastic and I love Billy Rush on that Strat.

London, Shepherds Bush July 9. Tix booked by my 26 year old daughter who is desperate to see them. Proud to have raised a child with such great taste!

You should be proud. My record with my kids is spotty. I think it would be very difficult to get a Millennial to like this sort of stuff. They do "reach back" for stuff from time to time, but generally not this kind of stuff. Theyre not as romantic, for one.

i always loved this band i had several of their 8 tracks i played in my car. I Saw them in concert I think it was in 79 they opened for the J. Geils band at the Richfield coliseum in Cleveland. My mom wanted to go because she liked Geils, she was extremely shocked when several joints were passed our way.

Here it is all these later... I was a Roadie for the Jukes (July 7,1977 until December 31, 1981), and the reason why I loved my job was the music!!! BTW, I'm still a Roadie and currently on the Bruce Springsteen World Tour 2024!!! 3:52

So good to hear this again. The summer clubs on the NJ shore were graced by Johnnie’s & Richie’s presence. Still play his albums regularly.

The Jukes at their best with the most powerful “Miami Horns” section in their history featuring Ed Manion, Richie “La Bamba” Rosenberg, Richie Gazda, Tony Pellagrossi and Carlo Novi.

I believe the “This Time It’s For Real” album cover photo was a shot of the band in the Asbury Park alley behind the legendary Stone Pony bar and club

Southside Johnny and the Asbury Dukes appeared twice on BBC2's Old Grey Whistle Test in 1977 : first on April 5th (which is where this comes from) and again on November 22nd, a live 1-hour In Concert special from the TV Theatre, Shepherd’s Bush. There should be more, lots more, from that broadcast (but I haven't found it yet). This is what they played.
    - This time it’s for real
    - Love on the wrong side of town
    - She got me where she wants me
    - Little by little
    - It ain’t the meat (It’s the motion)
    - The fever
    - Stagger Lee
    - We’re having a party (Credits)

He reminds me a bit of Lee Brilleaux (Dr Feelgood). And both bands had similar cult status, a bit off the mainstream.
