Nice video!! I can't believe nearly all the fish & chip shops were closed!! Maybe because it's off season now they reduce their hours. Good luck on the next sea side find, I'm looking g forward to seeing where you go next!!
I spent 2 summers in near Filey, at Primrose Valley Holiday Village, 2001 and 2002. And I was shocked that I almost did not recognise one view other than the beach huts and general sea front. I must have spent too much time in the (or a) pub or recovering from a hangover. Come to think of it, I don't actually remember much about those seasons at all. But thanks for the video, I saw more of Filey here than I did in 2 summers.
Interestingly, both had Butlins camps. The Filey one was just outside the town, it closed in 1983. It was the biggest holiday park in Europe when it opened. Skegness was the first Butlins camp, and still open now. Filey tends to be incredibly quiet out of season, so any time after the end of September. It’s a busy town from Easter until September. My parents would book a caravan at Primrose Valley ( who stretch over 2 thirds of the old Butlins site that was next door originally). We would go at Easter as a rule.
I first went to P V when it was stand pipes and toilet blocks , woken up at 7 from Butlins “morning campers “ loved it , that was our yearly holiday . Still go to Filey twice a year for a week , it’s hardly changed thankfully. We have booked PV for March next year fabulous accommodation it’s costing £1000 for the week how times change but Filey , never!
Sorry mate you haven’t done Filey justice at all . A small seaside town in November what did you expect ? Filey is glorious in fairer weather , the bay and beach are stunning , it a bucket and spade , dog walkers holiday . We stay twice a year in dog friendly accommodation and love it , if you want arcades and bingo Scarborough is 8 miles down the road . A holiday abroad and two separate weeks in Filey perfect
@@chaddamp2894 exactly I am 73 this year and first went when I was 2 with me mam and dad to Primrose Valley it’s perfect and nothing beats that bay , perfection
My Wife has ms and can't walk so we can no longer do the simple things like we used to do when we fell in love in 1976 but we always look forward to going back ,we booked 2 times for 2024 in an adapted caravan on the Thornwick camp site, really looking forward to those days ahead XX@@susanyork5089
You can get to the bring from the beach but only when the tide is out Filey is fantastic spent many happy holidays and weekends there at the other end of the beach there are or were more shops and a cliff top cafe and a park browns or the broen room has thr best fish n chips
Bridlington is the most similar resort to Skegness? Nothing like it. Whitby, Scarborough, (I'm from Scarborough) Filey, Brid all retirement home, day vanner venues. Go for the view, a cuppa, back in the van, home. If you are a family with kids and the sun's out, east Lincolnshire coast every time, bigger resorts and simply more for kids to do.
@@richardburns5925 I meant that, while Filey has always been the quieter, posher, resort in that area, Bridlington has traditionally been the brasher one.
The longest bench in Britain is at Scarborough railway station measuring 139 metres. I don't know what use this info is but it would make an interesting quiz question!
Filey for me .the town centre looks nice .amusement s have dwindled in the 2000s with a lot unable to make ends meet but arcades don't necessarily make a seaside resort .use to make a bee line for them as a kid. Pity about the .chippy s.
I need to disagree with you im afraid 😱 you say there's not much to do??? It's the dead of winter lad 🙄 what else do you expect??? My mum who sadly passed away in 2011 would take me to this neck of the wood's/Primrose Valley on one parent family holiday's all the way from 🏴 they where the best day's of my entire life! I'm now 50 & this April will be my 3rd time within a year I've visited this neck of the woods! Ifeel a sense of belonging here & I'm completely hooked I'm so happy here especially when remembering my wonderful caravan holiday's down the coast! @@everydayimeating3407 ..if you're going to find it you'll need to know how to spell it first ' Paignton ' 🤣 You said in a previous post Bournemouth was too far so don't think this place will make it onto your list as even further mate.
These review are bogus and biased. All the places with arcades and funfairs are rated bad and all those without are high. Clearly all tsted by old people who hate arcsdes and fairs.
Exaly if want a quiet holiday and want go for walks and relax go to Filey. If want a lot of thing tk do blackpool or skegness.. domt see why all the places with lots of attractions get rated low
Great video, but this proves one thing how the hell can Filey right higher than Skegness there is absolutely nothing there for what I can see in this video. It may have been in the back end of the year when you filmed it, but I live local to Skegness, and there is more at Skegness at the same time of the year, and a hell of a lot more in the summer, it just proves that you cannot believe anything on this how good your seaside town is rated score rubbish
What type of seaside holiday do you like?
Which seaside town should I go to next?
Comment below 😀
Go Whitby
I have it on my list 😀
Go to Scarborough! It’s beautiful

A lot of businesses in Filey shut up for the winter unfortunately for the residents. 😗
@everydayimeating3407 that's because they don't care about the residents 😮

ace video, great humour as we;; thank you
Hmmm, nice place but I prefer Skeggy in summer. Skeggy also has fine clean sand in summer. Maybe you should go skeggy in July or August.
I think it would be a lot better in summer!
Maybe check out Saltburn on Sea, North of Whitby. Largely ignored but on a nice day is an attractive place.

Went to Whitby first time ever in my 66 years
Loved it
Love Filey, would highly recommend The Buccaneer on Union Street
I must have missed it when I was there! 😞
Great Sunday lunch. ❤😊
Easily pleased 😂
I've never been to Filey or Skegness so I can't really comment what the places are like. I can't believe there wasn't a fish and chip shop open
I know! I thought at least 1 would be lol
Sorry, but they do shut up quite early, especially in winter 😮
I am in filey almost march. Like a ghost town. No chippys open.... seems impossible to get fish and chips here off season
Where I grew up I have fond memories
Get to Devon, Dorset and/or Cornwall. I've never been to Skegness or Filey but I prefer the look of Filey.
I might venture there in the future
Hope you like fifties! 😂

I have not, theres so many places I want to go
I love the sea and I've been to Filey ❤
The water looks a bit wetter than normal...

That ingrams fish and chips is the best fish I have ever had the cod from there is unreal
I'll have to go back when its open!
Fish and chip shops in Filey are all good. No real difference between them all. Except price maybe. 🙂
😂
If you ever go to Filey again come in summer and check out cj’s
I live in Filey and go to Skegness on Holiday :D However Filey is far better, however I may be a little bias
