This is the longplay of the E-Reader Levels of the Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros 3 game. The E-Reader Levels are a world apart, also known as World-e, found exclusively in this game and separate from the main adventure .
They were originally accessed through an accessory for the Game Boy Advance called the E-Reader, an accessory for use with the GBA that reads information from collectible trading cards and translates it on the GBA into standalone games or enhancements to some traditional games.
The E-Readers Levels for this game were released separately in Japan and the United States, while the European version didn't have these levels officially (only through a save glitch).
The levels and elements were inspired by Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros 2, Super Mario Bros 3 and Super Mario World, plus some exclusive levels. Each level has special coins that must be collected.
You can play with Mario and Luigi alternating between them, and you can enter mushroom houses to play minigames: Blue Mushroom House (a digging minigame, exclusive for non-Japanese players), Red Mushroom House (a ball-throwing minigame) and Orange Mushroom House (a Balloon Fight-esque minigame, except going up and with a P-Wing). These two mushroom houses were exclusively from the Japanese version.
In all Virtual Console versions of the game, all levels in World-e are unlocked by default (or, in the case of the European version, present in any capacity), including all of the levels released in Japan. Consequently, all World-e Toad Houses are also accessible upon gaining the necessary Advance Coins.
This version includes all elements and E-Reader levels, being the most complete. The video was made by collecting all the coins and alternating gameplay with Mario and Luigi. Unfortunately, it doesn't have a Staff Roll, which was the only thing missing to get it perfect, but otherwise, it's certainly very good and well-done levels.
Hope you like it. Игры
This video is “just what I needed”
Underrated comment
"hoho just what i needed"
JUST WHAT I NEEDED
Can you explain why you needed this?
Yeah why
I can confirm they are included in the new switch GBA online list.
I just beat this game today, it was so much fun
@@violencechooser5137 I just beat it the other day and had a blast. I will say though I already owned it on Wii U but didn’t play it until now on switch.
1:28:18 Wigglers in Super Mario Bros 3 feels uncanny because super Mario world came first for the Wigglers
@@PrideEepy64 stuff like this in the game makes it feel weirdly like a fan game, not saying that’s a bad thing lol
@@Aiden07_YT true
What's cool about these states is that they were made with the screencrunch in mind.
So they feel right at home on the GBA, hell, this is the closest we got to a original Mario platformer on the console.
No lie, one of the reasons to hang on to your Wii U is this. These are beautifully crafted levels. And they are all included on the Virtual Console version. EDIT: This aged like old milk...
You happened to heart this right when it was announced that the Wii U eshop was closing 😔 If you haven't already, get this game now.
I did get access the e-reader levels, by downloading an ROM used for the Virtual Console release...
Too bad Nintendo didn't push even further with F-Zero Gp Legend!!
The extra races, vehicles, dev ghosts and other bonuses are extra.
That's why I recently order an e-reader +.
Now I've to figure out how to implement those bonuses without the physical cards!
Theyre gonna be included on the Nso Expansion pack
@@samuelitoibarra1721 Yes but the Wii U versions still are superior. Why?
- Not location, purchased.
No need for the Premium Nso.
- Wii U versions got "HD" filter while clicking the right stick.
Convenient for HD TV. Even on Gamepad this filter polish the overall rendering.
- Purchased mean you own the game. Even when e-shop will shut down.
the graphics and pixel artwork for this game were ahead of its time. Excellent work
Back when Nintendo made quality remakes of their games *super Mario 3D all stars, Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn*
@@macs006 back when? Brilliant diamond and pearl was a year ago
@@macs006 crazy that it’s easier to make full remakes of old, unpolished NES games than 10 year old Wii games
@@djv1227 that wasn't a quality remake. it wasn't even made by Nintendo...
@@Grindelsireexactly. Honestly I wish 64 was widescreen and 60 FPS and that Sunshine was 60 FPS then 3D All Stars would be perfect
I'm super excited that I'll finally be able to go through this game on my switch! This was my all-time favorite game when I was a kid, and replaying the original NES and SNES versions didn't quite satisfy my nostalgia. For some reason I could never figure out how to play the e-reader levels, so that'll be a fun challenge to complete!
you not only needed the e-reader, which was an accessory for the gba, but also the special mario bros 3 cards to GET the levels in the first place
emulators are a thing....
@@olsonbryce777 I’m quite honestly too lazy to go about emulators the ethical way, so I’ll just get the expansion pack 😂
1:43:43 Sonic!!
Wow I’m impressed with the designs. It’s like a remix of elements in all the mario platform games
That's exactly what it was. It was the last entry in the Super Mario Advance series, so it reused/incorporated a bunch of assets from the previous games in the series for these bonus E-reader levels. It also took the SMB1 level 1 music from the SNES All-Stars version of SMB1
8:22
Game: Yay! You beat bow-
Luigi: JUST WHAT I NEEDED
Game: You're really just going to interrupt my fanfare like that?
2:12:00 - No time to dawdle is a level that might last 20 game seconds, but it took me closer to 20 hours to finally beat with all the special coins.
Me took me tons of tries as a kid...
I remember I didn’t have an e reader as a kid so I always wondered how I could unlock these levels. I thought I had to beat the game to do it or something
If you're into emulation you can download a rom with them patched into the game.
@@chiarosuburekeni9325 yeah I know. I have before. I also know that they patched the e reader levels into the Wii U virtual console version of this game.
Nah, the game just wanted you to throw more money at it before DLC was even a thing.
I can’t remember exactly what it was but I do believe there was this thing or score counter thing (like the max coins you can get in a level) and thought I had to do that for every level that had it. I was disappointed when I didn’t unlock any of them
@@Green_Stache_Productionsthey're also playable in the switch online version of the game but unfortunately you MUST have the expansion pack tier
Awesome! I beaf this game. And while i never played the e reader levels, i had a blast playing it.
God bless you i suscribe and im gonna watch the full longplay😊
these advanced versions of the super Mario games are almost better than the originals. this is how you port a game. this might be some of the best ports maybe even the greatest ports of any video games I've ever seen. Nintendo re-release these for the switch now please. I've heard rumors of a game boy or game boy advance switch online add-on and that would be awesome if they were true.
almost? why do you think theyre not better?
8 months later:
Who else is playing these eReader levels for the first time on the Switch?
Same took me at least 12 years to actually play em been wanting to play theses levels since I was 12 years old
I could never complete "Wild Ride in the Sky" without freaking out when I see those diagonal bullet bills...
Same, lol. 😅
The thought of wanting to know what the E readers levels had brought me here today.
Now this is what I called good memories. E-Readers.
This game served as a good transition from 2d sprites to 3d models for 2d Mario games
This is the first time I've ever seen those unique levels. Too bad the older NES/SNES versions doesn't have them, though some are remixes from SMB 1 or so.
That's What I Needed Thank You Very Much Gotcha Just What I Needed Here I Go Lucky Bravo
I have a question; when you do these, do you edit out deaths or do you replay the whole game until you do it deathless? I'm not done watching so I haven't seen any deaths yet, but I skipped ahead and saw like 100+ lives.
I use rerecording emulador and savestates for emulated games. For PC games i play while recording, in real time.
Nice game and video, xRavenXP. 😊😊😊
These levels where hard asf doe 🤣😂😂 I nearly broke my monitor playing all of them.
*were* ,not where. They don't sound the same at all. 🤣
Typo
Hi, do you know where can i download this version of super mario with E-reader Levels? thank you!
Here are the final results:
Score: 1,432,640 points.
Lives remaining: 146
Ace coins collected: 147/147
Number of coins: 1,358
e-coins collected: 8/8
Lives lost: 0
THIS VIDEO SHOWS JUST LIKE I NEEDED
Wow never knew this existed now I wanna try these levels out
Then get an e reader
Or if you're interested in emulation then download a save state with the e reader levels.
@nicknetwork118 oh so they are just personal levels not actually made by Nintendo
Seeing elements from the other games was so cool and surprising. Makes me wonder if all the GBA ports were somewhat similar under the hood.
Your videos are awesome raven, you should try speedrunning sometime. I mean you are pretty good at video games so if you try speedrunning I know you can get a good time
I guess this is the closest SMB1 GBA Remaster we can get.
The Game Boy boot song is giving me mad nostalgia.
It's surreal to see obstacles and mechanics from all of the 2D Mario games in one place like this. But y'know one obstacle I'm glad *doesn't* appear in these levels? Boss Bass!
Only one thing disappoints me about this - they got rid of the nice deep TH-THUMP! sound effect of Thwomps and Sledge Bros. hitting the ground, in favor of a wimpier sound effect that lacks any impact.
Best version of Mario 3
Love that game!!
Those we're some pretty cool levels.
It's *were* not we're (we are).
They don't sound the same at all.
11:58 Showoff...
Imagine all of this as NES rom hack for the original.

I remember going on eBay about 08 and getting an E-reader, a 2nd GBA and cards Just to have the cape in Mario 3. I just wish it was zoomed out a tad, some levels the screen scrolls too late
Yoo I loved the Ereader levels
Someone should make a SMW rom hack of this.
I remember how i did tout back in 1992 that bowser was on his airship in mario 3 in accordence to those posters and certain episodes in those smb3 cartoon series, but sadly that was not the case, however 11 years later those troughts from the past did became reality in gba supermario 3 in e world😁
Great Video :D
My idea for E-reader Levelnames:
Level 1: It's A Me! Mario!!!
Level 2: That's A Me! Luigi!!!
Level 3: Sky Mario!
Level 4: Old Bowser's Memories
Level 5: The Non-forgotten Sea
Can you please tell me from where did you get the SAV File
That intro :')
I seriously wish someone would upload the e-Coin sound effect.
Not to rush you or seem impatient, but when will you play Donkey Kong ‘94, SM64 Ds, and the Pokémon games?
But good vid as always :)
Don't bother asking. If people like you ask for videos, it's because they really want to see them on my channel and I welcome every request they make to me. Of those games you mentioned, only Pokémon that I'm with some progress (more precisely in Pokémon Green, although I have plans to play all the games in this saga, as well as the Mario saga).
What makes it impossible for me to release videos as often as I'd like is my internet connection with an upload of 5MB (this video alone took me 10 hours to upload and publish). I'm also configuring the OBS in the best possible way to soon play games from modern platforms (like Nintendo Switch for example), but never forgetting the old classics. Thank you so much for always commenting on my videos.
I thought I was the only one who liked sm64ds, its such an awesome game
Awesome!!
This used to be one of my very first Super Mario games from my past, plus first time heard a little bit about the e-Reader stuff back there. I never owned a e-Reader set, so I all did was just wandering around in the e-Castle with the empty wall picture frames.
I think I would listen to the remastered version of the e-Castle theme song again.
It’s e-Nostalgic.🥲
Am I the only one who thinks the E-Reader levels in Super Mario Advance 4 gets too much hate?
Because on Pixel Powerstar's review of Mario 3 (all versions), he seemed pretty critical towards what he would call a "perfectly paced masterpiece".
As much as I love everything about all three versions of these games including their levels, creativity, surrealism, music, inspiration and graphics, I will admit that I can see where he's coming from with the criticisms towards the NES version's graphics (although like I said, I love how all versions of the Super Mario games of the Super Mario Advance series looks, and good news, a proper Super Mario Advance 5: Super Mario Bros. 1 is in development to be one of the strongest versions of the original alongside the SNES version because Super Mario All-Stars is one of those many games packed with that 16-bit magic as found on the SNES, Sega Genesis and Game Boy Advance), but then he just has to bash the SNES version's music (which is a matter of opinion, but as much as I want to praise this guy as an underrated reviewer, he seems to treat it like a fact that the 16-bit version's soundtrack is an assault to the ears, which he didn't explain why. But that's not even the worst part. Oh yes. the worst is yet to come...) and paint a negative image towards world-e in the GBA version by thinking too much about the negatives about this game like not only are they horribly designed on their own, he would even treat it like you can't complete it if you can't even100% this game even though it's not even mandatory (but what is is just having fun with the batshit insantiy of this game and getting good if he could paint Super Mario Bros. 2: The Lost Levels for the Famicom as some underrated gem and "the real Mario 2") and strictly for completionists.
No offense towards people that enjoy watching this channel, and I was actually anticipated to discover it, but while I respect and (partially) enjoy this guy, I feel like he can be pretty subjective and tell us to think the same way as he does about these Super Mario games (another example would have to be when he found flaws in Super Mario World for the SNES. Does every game including the super popular Super Mario series have their weaknesses? Absolutely! But the positives massively outweigh the negatives especially when it comes to the 3D Mario games that are not Super Mario 3D All-Stars and the 2D Mario games that aren't Super Mario Bros. DX or the New Super Mario Bros. sequels. If anyone enjoys it, cool. But I'm glad Pixel Powerstar was critical towards SMBDX when he knew how to be!)
Playing these now for the first tume on my switch
I'ts impressive that in virtual consolé and switch online include this feature
I still love those dancing trees
Nice Game play
Thanks!
8:47 finally the music is at the normal speed
1:42:57 I like it here, a perfect sanctuary from zombies.

0:36 So calming.
I really really do love those airship levels, the navy ship and tank level, hotdam if a hacker will ever port those levels to the nes version of mario 3,it will make my dream come true😁
The first 5 levels were like it was from a concept of mario advance 5

Best video ever
1:43:46 My man Sonic the Hedgehog is in this game, and murdered by Luigi, many times. Sadge.
How do you use the cape feather, idk how to
I was able to beat moste-reader levels except that beetle challnge stage wich is redicilously difficult, and while there’re many other annoying levels but some of those levels are actually fun😁
Note: i already wanted to play those e-reader levels 20 years ago but i simply had no chance to do that because of not owning a ereader,no e-cards,no proper proper gba version for it,no link cable and extra required gba for it,and while there was the wii u vc version but i simply did bother buying a wii u,BUT thanks todays ability to play it online i could finally play it after all those years he he.
one question: is this part of the original game or is it an extension created by fans?
These levels are official. They were released on cards to be used in the game Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros 3 through an accessory called E-Reader, which added items and new exclusive stages. Years later, Nintendo released the complete game to be played on the Wii U Virtual Console (which is much more practical to play). This GBA version is a kind of port of the Wii U version, which includes all 38 levels.
They shut down wii u and 3ds e shop
@@mcp3063 No they didn't yet. Wii U's e-shop is still alive, until March 23.
