never seen anyone make a grouper rig like that. we usually put a lead above a swivel to about 4'-8' of leader onto a circle hook. the closest thing ive seen is a knocker rig. nobody uses crimps or leader that heavy unless deep dropping.
Sure you have you just did my friend.🙌 We fish south Florida aka Fl keys wrecks,snags,rocks artificial reefs ect for grouper. You want a hvy line/leader in those area's or you'll be rocked up n broke off real quick. Very common keys rig for grouper available in every tackle shop normally 3-8oz egg 100lb-250lb leader. Size your rig for the conditions/area your fishing. Sure you can always lighten things up if the fish aren't chewing, the current is light & bottom is somewhat clean by all means go as light as you can. None of that applies to where we fish these rigs. Also grouper aren't a tackle shy fish they literally eat aluminum cans bottle caps ect so crimps aren't an issue at all with this species. Where do you buy your chafe tubing? I'm done with the chafe springs, they rust and occasionally spread, pinching the hook stiff on a hard bite- lost a couple good ones because of the springs.

I spent the pandemic making up rigs, trolling skirts, inchiku and kaburu jigs, hand carved stick baits, bucktails and three rods. I'll admit your tip about making little info cards is better than my lazy method of writing on the bags. Love those spinner boxes by the way. I've never seen anything like that over here in Indonesia. Sure miss Walmart LoL.
