I've seen the Key61, and all the hype. The fact is the MPC X is still a better built, more premium machine on a physical level, with the 16 Qlinks, The 10" tilt screen, metal construction, etc. Plus, the MPC X prioritizes pads which is what MPC's have always had. Akai made the pads smaller and out of the way on the new Key61. I'll buy the new plugins. I don't have an X yet, I'm still using my original Live which I prefer over the Live 2 as the speaker is added bulk and weight and I don't need it. The key61 is nice, but it's all plastic, same screen as Live, same 4 Qlinks which cover part of the screen when you use them.. I still prefer the X.

Hey man great video and music on this machine well done! Do you ever used the footswitches on it to perform while playing guitar or have your hands busy playing an instrument to trigger with your feet some parameters on it as change pads/clis and scenes pre recorded to arrange a full structure of a song live or even for record/stop/play for example ? I’m considering to change my workflow from a looper artist perspective to something like that to be able to build more complex projects and but still a bit scary to face this “all in one” type of machine but this one seems absolutely a dream of a gear for me if I manage to learn it properly 😅 any advice, tips, encouragements will be very much appreciated sir, cheers and thanks for the great video🙏🏽

Honestly, mouse and monitor that runs off a hardware synth is the best of daw and hardware all in one. Think back to Roland when so much gear had monitor out vga ports and mouse ports. Loved those days. Tactile inputs, daw like monitor output? I feel like industry when backwards in many ways. Daw never would be a thought if our gear all had option vst type interface via hdmi out direct on the hardware!

Can you please tell me the name of the software on the Mac that’s matching the Mpc X? I see something on akai’s site called MPC Beats but I’m not quite sure if that’s the same software. Thank you for your time and content!

One limitation in standalone so far is the 5min record limitation for an audio track. Been to the forums for MPC X and there is no work arounds as it was architectually designed that was. Which is weird since yoy can record almost just under 20mins for a sample lol. Hope it could be corrected in an update but doubtful.

The cost to produce another X MK2 would be bad for mass adoption. The Keys61 was perfect for todays market. I wold love to see BFD adapted for MPC. Maybe when the hardware becomes more robust. And also more linear audio tracks.

@@park171 have to say I am super attached to the workflow on the MPC X and it's capabilites. Just need a decent DAW like Abelton and computer rig and I will be off to the races in no time. I have an ole KORG Triton workstation already so the MPC 61 keys would be overkill for me and wasn't out yet at the time of my purchase. Although it looks to be a worthwhile purchase in itself.

Rack units and keyboard had better sound decent selection, quality, and crazy effects built in. It's our fault though wanting everything in the digital domain. Now analog/stand alone is coming back full circle and we acting like it's so amazing. The old roland fantom is killing this off naturally doing what it was meant to do. Just saying
