Sir Simon you could make a DVD called "Harry, the H-Pawn" and then you analyse all the best victories of this pawn in the history of chess and all of the common strategy of this pawn.
Thanks again for another educational upload. I started playing chess again as an adult a year ago, in part thanks to your videos. Subsequently started a chess club and deeply in love with the game.
I love to watch these - I always pick up things from watching real games that more "focused discussions" seem to miss. That said, sometimes you go far enough with the "what if" portions that I lose track of the actual events of the game. But thank you millions of times over for sharing chess. I've played for years but still struggle with even being "decent". There's just so much to it that I get extremely overwhelmed and do stupid stuff. Way too many lost queens and playing from 6+ points behind...
Loving your vids, especially the background to the opening and competition: it really adds gravitas and context to the technical side of the game. For all your "mockney" bluster, it's good to hear the inner English gent with gems like 'crash bang wallop'. Terribly violent of you old chap, must you get blood on the chessboard? This is imported oak.
I really like your style and aggression...Thanks for the beautiful games and analysis. I was deeply thinking about the Qe6+. Almost first time I pointed a move which is correct :).
22:25 that sounds very sensible, not like you though! Keep on with your amazing work pal, showing the world that it is still possible to achieve wild, beautiful and also successful fun over the board. Thank you!
Simon, this variation needs a name. I'm thinking something like...'Simon's Royal Defense- Dutch your Bishop' What say you? Thanks for explaining your thought process clearly to us!
a novelty!! my score against the Sicilian defence has improved. It would be great if you can suggest further reads or can show some of your more games on this variation.
Simon, your educational stuff is great. I am always surprised that you dont make more of them. I will definitely try this one against the Sicilian. Now I have recently taken up Classical Dutch after studying your DVD and would be delighted if you analyzed more CD games of your own. What do you think of 6...Ne4 -instead of d6- in the CD mainline?
Would love some more videos focused on openings, especially moving into the middle game where the position has become closed. Often my opponent and I are fully developed and some ideas/plans you should have at that time would be very useful!
Great and interesting opening. Been playing regular GPA for a long time so decided to test this just to get new ideas. After 4 games in Lichess vs. 2500-2600 opponents, 2 wins 1 draw 1 loss. Pretty good so far. ;) It is very easy to play this system
Simon any news about the upcoming London system DVD I bought your English great great but can't wait for London and anything about Slav deffense in your mind.. And please play a couple games Slav to see how you play it :D
Burak okumuş I saw this too, and was surprised Simon didn't see it! Sometimes easy wins are the hardest to see when you're used to really difficult tactics!
Simon Williams you are calculating tons of things at the same time so it is totally acceptable. By the way in the same position, Qf3 is also winning. 1.Qf3- Qb6 2. Bd1- c4+ 3. d4- Qxd4 4. cxd4 -Nh4 5. Qg4#
This is how we want to see you winning - convincing attack, dutchlike (you play what you preach) and we learned a lot. "Harry" the h-pawn if you go on like this, there will be a TV-series like "Harry and the knight of horror" or "Harry and the unholy bishop".
I really like this Be2 opening idea. Been playing e4 c5 f4 for years but d5 is definitely a problem so have been looking for alternatives... this is something I am going to try.
There was a win actually. At 27:43 after Qxf4 Kg6 d4 Kg7 Qf6 bishop covers h7 so king has to go to g8 and then Queen goes from f6 to g5 to h6 to h7 with slight advantage.
Dear Simon, what is with 2. d3 so that I do not decide so early if to place the bishop on e2 or g2 and I can do this later depending on what setup white chooses? Is this equaly good or are there disadvantages?
Thank you for the quick answer. After 2...d5 I find exd and after Qxd5 then Nc3 not so bad. In my database the killer move is 3.Qe2 with 91% (out of 6 games). :-)

Great idea! I loved Simon's H-pawn series on chess.com.
Fascinating opening idea!
Fantastic idea against Sicilian, really interesting, simple, but creative, I like it..
I really enjoy these analysis videos.
I love your videos ! can't thank you enough !

Congratulations with a brilliant results and wish you best luck!
Thank you for this video, I like your analyses a lot!
'I couldn't see a clear win here' 33:16 --- Qe6+, Nf5 QxN mate

Congrats - nice creative game and ideas ! Might try that Be2 !

fun and instructive as always, thanks!

What say you?
Thanks for explaining your thought process clearly to us!
g3+ Kh3, Qe6+ and mate after Nf5, QxNf5#

33:13 simon Qe6 and mate next move!
Would love some more videos focused on openings, especially moving into the middle game where the position has become closed. Often my opponent and I are fully developed and some ideas/plans you should have at that time would be very useful!
Simon's opening DVDs typically dovetail into the intricate plans occuring in the middlegame positions.
That would be awesome thanks, look forward to more of your content.
33:25 Ginger says don't move g3 because then there is no clear mate to Kh3 but there is! Qe6 check Nf5 Qxf5 mate!!!

very very nice game. i found the idea of rf7
Isn't Qe6 winning on 33.25 ?
I checked with computer, it's mate in 2. Didn't you see that Simon?
He obviously missed that and found another forced checkmate so stopped calculating.
Burak okumuş I saw this too, and was surprised Simon didn't see it! Sometimes easy wins are the hardest to see when you're used to really difficult tactics!

lol you don't need to check that with a computer ^^

Hi Simon,
no time for the lovely Bunratty open?
I really like this Be2 opening idea. Been playing e4 c5 f4 for years but d5 is definitely a problem so have been looking for alternatives... this is something I am going to try.
First try, 10 min game on lichess.... had a really nice game ---
1. e4 c5 { B20 Sicilian Defense } 2. Be2 Nc6 3. f4 d6 4. Nf3 e6 5. O-O Nf6 6. d3 Be7 7. c3 Bd7 8. h3 Nh5 9. Qe1 g6 10. Be3 O-O 11. Nbd2 a6 12. Ng5 Ng7 13. Rd1 Qc7 14. Qh4 Bxg5 15. fxg5 b5 16. Nf3 Ne5 17. Nh2 d5 18. d4 cxd4 19. cxd4 Nc4 20. Bxc4 bxc4 21. Ng4 Nh5 22. e5 f5 23. gxf6 Rab8 24. Rf2 Ba4 25. Rdf1 Kf7 26. Nh6+ Ke8 27. g4 Nxf6 28. Rxf6 Rxf6 29. Qxf6 { White wins on time. } 1-0 (he lost on time but the kingside attack was fab)
thanks

Or f5 after d4+.
simon you have a unique style
Simon Williams like a fish in the water😉
33:12 checkmate in 2 Qe6
Nice picture - and who got a beer in his hand?
Did you see Fiona's game yesterday Simon?.....how did she get out of a real losing position?
I got your Killer Dutch! Great book!
Ofc right as I pressed enter i realised there is f5 block during the "mate".
33:18 Qe6+ mating :)
at 33:32 y not g3+ and then after kh3..qe6!!!
33:19 is Qe6 not mate?
20:30..... N x e6?
Nathan Cragg I think this is right, as I can't see a good response to this move.
I was thinking after Rxe6 then fxe6?
What about Nxf7?
after kh3 qe6mate next move
Make a educational video on this!
Go team Cheddleton!

Also, it amazes me how willingly grandmasters trade queens.
👍👍👍💪💪💪👊👊👊
