  • In the French boulangeries, they often had "Nordic" loaves, that were always a darker bread, and often seeded. The bread in stores here defintely reflects the common usage of a wider variety of grains. The baking section, even at the little grocery near us out here in the country, includes grains like spelt and rye.
    Also, sandwiches are often open faced, with an interesting variety of spreads and sauces. We got a variety of stuff and gave it a whirl at home.
