- Muay Thai highlight of legendary muay matt Coban Lookchaomaesaitong โคบาล ลูกเจ้าแม่ไทรทอง.
Coban had some of the most lethal punches in Thai boxing history. He fought 270 times (90 wins by KO) and bagged himself two Lumpinee titles along the way.
Coban was born in Issan, NorthEast Thailand in 1966 and was one of five children. His family was poor and he wanted to help so, at the age of 11, he began training Muay Thai on his own by filling canvas rice bags with rice hulls and sawdust. He had his first bout at a Thai festival that same year and drew the fight. He won 30baht.
A year later, a ringside doctor and judge relocated to Coban's local area. He saw Coban training and invited him to train at the public health and recreational centre.
At 15 years old, Coban moved to the Lookchaomaesaitong Muay Thai camp in Buriram where he would live for the next 9 years.
At 19, Coban won his first Lumpinee title...
Coban is probably best known outside of Thailand for his rivalry with Ramon Dekkers. These fights are legendary; two wins for Dekkers and two wins for Coban.
Some of the fighters featured in this highlight include Dany Bill, Ramon Dekkers, Hector Pena, Fahlannoi Kietannan, Samransak Muangsurin, Noppadet Sorsamroeng and Oliver Harrison.
Coban also holds wins over, Noppadet Sorsamroeng and Orono Por Muang Ubon.

Anyone who is a true fan of technique in Thai boxing will be a coban fan. You can't help it. He was the best at holding his guard high and then countering with left or right hooks, ecsp off opponents kicks + brutal power for weight class. True legend teaches in NYC now.

1. France *result* Loss (unanimous decision)
2. Samut Prakarn *result* Win (unanimous decision)

They're on par in fact. Insubstantial people only perceive only that Coban was KOed by Ramon.
Also, they scammed Coban in 4rth. He supposed to fight Dida Diafat. Instead of him , last minute Dekkers replaced him...

The way Coban was moving combined with his low center of mass gave him fists of lead.
He's just steady relentless force with murder in every strike. It's beautiful.

Tawanchy, Superlek, Rodtang, Ferrari Fairtex, there are a few names that are lighting the muay thai world up as true up and coming superstars (less so Rodtang, hes arguably the biggest name in Muay Thai right now)

You simply do not fuck with a man who has fought to feed his family.
Coban's southpaw lead right hook to rear left leg roundhouse kick to the liver was a constant...Would have been hectic to deal with, as the level of power in Coban's lead hook would move an opponent across into the roundhouse even when they had blocked it, without question....(and, if they hadn't blocked the hook, then the round kick would usually collect them on their way to the canvass..[!]...)

He might dance like feminine but once the match started it like kill zone. Probably the most completed fighter in muay thai history. Able to take those power shots and extremely precise counter attack. He could catch almost all the kicks from opponents. With Dekker, it was wars.

Are these nicknames something you Come up with or their actual fighting nicknames?
"The Cruncher" was a nickname given to him by Americans when he started fighting outside of Thailand. Some Thais have nicknames in Thai which I'll translate, but they don't all sound right when translated to English. Sometimes I name the highlight based on their characteristics, fighting style or spirit!

The number of great fighters that both hurt / finished is astonishing . They weren't just the greatest femur fighter of all time , they were some of the most dangerous Nak Muay period .
