Brawl is not a good compétitive game , for a melee, p+ , even smash4 and ultimate, Brawl is garbage for all the Smash community (sry for the Bad english)
I wish I could go back in time with my current melee knowledge and beat this shit out of this Wario main that used to kick my ass in PM 8 years ago LOL
Alas, I actually did wind up beating the Wario main that used to kick my ass. They soon after dropped the character against me xD The Wario would spam side B and then just try to dunk you out the side. Rinse, repeat. It was very frustrating but I realized, literally.. any character I play I can just hold shield, and get a shield grab after the side B hit's your shield. I continued to dunk on Wario as Ike after adapting to that minor change, but ALSO I learned to stop being annoyed by it, because ultimately that was what was *really* beating me Edit: Also, it says a lot about people who play that way, that they'll drop a character like a hot potato the second they lose with it. It demonstrates their clear failure to adapt to the opponent, as they were relying solely on a gimmick.
It’s probably because doing a lot of simple things in melee as Gannon is really difficult and tight. You need a lot of precision to make little things work, where as in this game things just work. He feels a lot more manual that way and some melee players probably prefer that. I definitely don’t though lol.
@@jakezepeda1267 exactly-- if P+ gets rollback, it will become the best smash game ever. It already is, it just needs better online and nothing will ever top it
Some of the characters feel so degen to play against. Just wish they kept all the moves from brawl and just changed the frame data. Most MUs feel like ultimate you gotta respect stupid shit or get gimmicked.
Some day P+ will have rollback and I will cry. Also for those that haven't played P+ its amazing. It is weird to get used to because hit stun lasts ages or at least feels that way but it also allows for some insane combos. If you want a great character all the legend of zelda characters are great same with Mr G&W. Diddy Kong and lucas just feel good to play but aren't broken. Fox and falco feel like trash but I am happy with that.
@@ProcessHF Really? There is something weird with its knockback and hitstun that I don't quite understand. Its like sometimes you get knocked back at mostly a 90 degree angle but start a tumble and it feels like you're still in hit stun so you end up dying and it looks like you didn't even try to recover. Its hard to explain but I just assumed it was hit stun lasting longer.
@Quantum Passport total junk in what way lol? I main falco in Melee and have thousands of hours in PM, he's almost identical to his Melee self, the only significant nerfs he received were to the 2nd half of dair where the hitbox lingers even though he isn't visually doing anything (good change. Lingering hitboxes that don't match the animation is a bugs and SHOULD be removed) and removing intangibility from shine. He's still a extremely strong character and has one of the best sheild pressure games in PM.
I've never played P+, and only very little of PM. How similar is P+ to Melee? I'm interested in it mostly because my old main Mario looks to be viable now. I remember the physics still feeling kind of floaty and almost stuffed with cotton compared to Melee, but not sure if that's changed over the years.
It's great, but it's just not Melee. I don't know how to express it correctly, but the movement feels less natural, kinda like going from Super Mario 64 to Sunshine, if that makes sense. Having a bigger, more balanced roster is great, obviously, but it brings a whole bunch of jank with it. I main Falco in Melee and Lucas in PM/P+.
The primary difference from melee (besides the physics being *ever* so slightly different so certain distances aren't absolutely 1 to 1) in terms of movement is that wavedashing take about 1 frame longer. Everything else should be near identifcal or even better because we have all the same movement options with UCF enabled at all times (since it's a mod we don't care). Otherwise it's all just minor teeny tiny differences that make it feel different, but personally whenever I play melee it feels about the same. Most characters have good jump squats in PM/P+, worst is 5 frames. I don't know what people mean when they say it feels artificial or unnatural. It's just a preference thing becasue it isn't input lag. Do keep in mind though that your main in melee will NOT feel the same here. It's incredibly similar but they will not be identical. Expecting to be melee with a larger cast is just plain wrong. It's an amped up Brawl mod that takes heavy inspiration from melee, so of course differences exist. Oh also afaik there's no v-canceling. But we do have dacus, wave bounce and b-reverses.
It's not melee but it is similar to melee. I mean you player pm it's like an updated version of that. I think the reason some people like melee more is because we simply like it's meta more, like we don't care is some characters aren't viable. Plus the 20+ year long meta. Also things like the movement and the animations feel weird in P+ compared to melee.
P+ is slightly floatier I feel and combos are bigger too, so not exactly like melee but it still feels amazing and a lot of the roster is viable. Great music as well. Mario is so sick in this game
I think the key difference between P+ and melee game feel is the internal momentum system. velocity appears to be in continuous flow with melee (two consecutive hits will stack momentum) while P+ much like the Brawl it's a mod of appears to set velocity as a flat value tied to the percentage of the opponent. this means you don't get weird situations where you hit the other character while prone and they start floating way up into the blast zone
Can someone explain what project+ actually is? I understand it’s a blend of melee and brawl, but which aspects were taken from each game, specifically?
They modified brawls engine to be more melee like. So if you play melee all your skills transfer over. You’ll just need to learn new matchups and perhaps a new character. It’s made to have similar mechanics to melee along with unique mechanics only found in P+. I know many melee players who also play P+ .
Melee has a more established meta, slightly faster ground to air transition due to no brawl physics delay, and less Characters that rely on kill confirms (Mario for example has down throw, dtilt, uptilt, and upair all leading into fair for example). I love both melee and p+, they're both good for different reasons, and some similar, but it's understandable to prefer either or.
i always kind of neglected other smash games than melee, even just playing casually with homies, but p+ looks sick! definitely gonna have to get it set up
My only advice is to not treat it like Melee. It's not the same game past the basics. The easiest way to show this is that Fox is no longer the best character and that Jiggs is the worst character in the game
