The Grim Case of Joey Banis

- In an old house in Louisville, dark things lurked. Had for a while actually, but one night Joey Banis, Jeffrey Mundt and Jaime Carroll would definitely add to that legacy. After police arrived to break up a domestic, Joey Banis would reveal something to the police. And the story got a lot crazier after that.

Funny
I hate it when you have a lover's quarrel and then both of you start blaming each other for the body buried in the basement of your house. 😭
Yeah, they’re the worst quarrels aren’t they!! 😂
@Marshall Carwood okay?
Being the body is a bit of a bummer too.
Ikr. Can't people just get along? 😕
Ideally it would be a bonding experience.
I used to be a meth addict and my roommate was one too. We hid it for a long time and kept it to ourselves. My roommate got a boyfriend that was also on meth and things started to get weird. He was putting up cameras to spy on us and also talked about murdering women on a daily basis. I got the hell out of there and moved back to my hometown and got clean. I haven’t heard from them in years.

Also, it breaks my heart that a victim that young, who was BRUTALLY murdered, was never missed by anyone on a personal level. When you really think about how viciously alone you would have to be, and what a dark place you have to be in mentally, to live your day to day life without interacting with ANYONE who would miss you when you're life without interacting with ANYONE who would miss you if you stopped coming around.. That's insanely humbling. And, also insanely tragic.
He was a drug dealer, they often love transient lives or do not stay in touch. Many don't contact their parents because they're afraid it will put them in danger, or they don't have a good relationship with them in the first place. People grow up, they don't need checking in on every day.
He was a DRUG DEALER which means he did not care at all about other people's lives -- he made money off of their addictions without regard for their health and safety. I don't find it sad at all that no one cared about him. I just think of all the people who had written him off because he was evil. It is no surprise to me.
@@peternolan4107 Well, as I respect your opinion cause I'm not a shit head, I am going to have to very staunchly disagree with everything you just said. He was a drug dealer, yes. However, that doesn't mean that there wasn't a point in his life when he was someones friend, brother, nephew, son, etc. Just because he made bad decisions on how to make money, doesn't mean that he deserved what happened to him. Did he deserve jail time for the sale of narcotics, yes. But, every single person that came to him wanting drugs would've found them even if he didn't have them. Im a recovering heroin addict; been clean for 10 years. And I can promise you that if one dealer told me no, 10 other dealers were waiting to jump on me. Its pretty obvious you don't even have the ability to SYMPATHIZE with what a drug addict goes through. We didn't wake up one morning and say, "You know what, I think Im gonna put a needle in my arm today and ruin mine, and everyone I care about's lives! That sounds like a GRAND idea!" And dealing drugs is, unfortunately, a very common hustle for those of us who cant hold it together enough to keep a decent job. I dont blame ANYONE but myself for the shitty things I did in my life. But, I cant just sit idly by and watch someone be so callous about a human life. Must be nice to live life and judge, jury, and executioner. Glad you're using your powers for good instead of evil... oh, wait.
@@peternolan4107 Drugs are illegal, not immoral, and the same with giving or selling them to other adults. Just FYI, because morals don't come from laws or government dictats.
Drug dealers often have lots of aquaintences but very few real friends.
I find it incredibly sad when people go missing and no one looks for them.
Be a good human and people will miss you
@@troyounce3295 - This is sadly not how life works. Also, huh?
@@troyounce3295 There’s a lot of great people that frankly like to keep to themselves. Sad part is most wouldn’t even notice if they went missing.

Well obviously if you have a drug problem, that's something you need to fix.

I think Jeffrey was equally guilty. The confession tape seemed to be orchestrated not by Joey but by Jeffrey and it seemed like Jeffrey was the manipulator in the relationship. Even though Joey said he was holding a gun to Jeffrey, you can see he looks up in fear of Jeffrey who wrote that line for him. It just doesn't add up and I don't believe the police got both killers.
I agree! It seemed to me exactly what Joey said was true about Jeffrey being the golden child and could get away with it. It's very possible. And the way he was looking at him looked weird af. Why would any of that happen. It is all so bizarre and I can't tell who is actually telling the truth.
He looked scared in the video. Like he was forced to do it?? I don't know I did not get the impression that he was confidently doing that.

Damn he is clearly 100% reading it, even adjusting for changes like 𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 to 𝙡𝙮𝙞𝙣𝙜 on the bed next to me. Although murderers don't generally call the cops. It seems like as soon as Joey was in trouble he offered up something in exchange. Idk.
Either way, these 2 together just seemed like fuel added to a toxic waste fire. @Ocasional Visitor Luckily it was just one body, and it didn't contaminate the actual structure itself, just made a hole in the dirt. Bit naughty, but hardly a 'taint'. Far more importantly, its timeless aesthetic of practical, affordable elegance was untouched.
that staircase
@@jamieangel3766 Sublime.
😮😮.... dang! I didn't realize you had content from 3 years ago. I love your style of story telling . Keep em coming!!
I mean if the Joey guy played a part in the actual murder, why would he flat out bring it up to the cops when nobody knew about it?
This just shows how good meth is, you want to talk to anyone so bad you’ll tell a cop about a body in your basement
“Good”? Powerful, maybe. Not good tho
@@crakkbone well obviously, the sarcasm was drugs are amazing…..that’s what causes addiction. I was addicted opiates particularly pharmaceutical but yeah they were great, so good they ruined my life for 3 years.
@@mypud4068 meth for around the same amount of time
@@crakkbone haha well like a good drug addict I’ve tried that a few times as well and while it was great I didn’t take to uppers like i did opiates, it was almost to much as far as being speedy but opiates in hindsight I was hooked from the very first time as I distinctly remember feeling like this is what I should feel like. Unbeknownst I was just masking untreated ADD and also self image issues, but as long as your clean that’s good I tried to get clean probably 10 times before it working for more then a few months, almost 10 years now haha
@@mypud4068 ten years is a lot! Keep it up, god knows I’m tryin! It gets tricky sometimes tho.
The sad thing is that this channel will never run out of content.
Thats a good thing
@vivian celest America! Where people are required to take a course, two tests, have insurance, and a license to drive, but can lie or show a fake ID to purchase a semi automatic machine gun to keep squirrels 🐿 away.
Yeah I think about that too sometimes 😕
No, his stories are not always about Americans. Mostly Canada.
Got something against guns.?
Man that was a great quote. If they think he got away with murder they should have done their jobs better. FACTS
Imagine being around someone that kills somebody in front of you and then makes it clear you could be next and you know the cops won’t listen or believe you had nothing to do with the murder. It would be a rough position and impossible to know if they were in it.
When you're stuck in bed under the weather and you hear, "Heeey you!"
Just the medicine you need! Thanks Mike, we appreciate you! 💚🧡🤍
Hope you feel better soon x take care
Is it the rona?
@@katc6880 aw thank you very much! You're very sweet. ☺️
I hope you feel better 💛.
@@carlosflores4380 thankfully no lol. I take care of my MIL who's immune compromised so I only go out to pick up groceries but my husband still has to go to work and he brought the yucky home. He's better now so I'll be fine. Weird how these days we're thankful to be sick with almost anything but the Rona huh? 😳
"I'm holding him hostage because I have failed him and hurt him and done terrible things which I can never recover from..." I guess that's what drugs do to your brain, somehow that whole thing made sense to Joey.
i believe jeff . . . just listen . . the type to coward in a room calling 911 is NOT the type to want to bring police and attention to a house with a body HE PUT THERE . . think . . . if jeff was guilty hed never call 911 and if hes the type to murder then he wouldnt be scared of josh he would fight it out .. i mean cmon . . .im a kid and even im not scared of a fight .. .so what puts that fear into somebody .. . murder . . . i believe jeff was scared into living like a hostage. . . im sorryu . . . i dont like those types of ppl because of my past but . .. i honestly believe jeff. . his story makes sense . . .even if he couldnt fight josh that night he would have been more likely to leave the house and never go back. . .rather than call 911 and bring police and dogs etc and attention to the spot he murdered and burried someone . . .i think . . .he wanted everything to end. . . and tried to do it in the safest possible way so he didnt get killed in the process .. . the end. . . sorry jeff . . but you had lots of chances to say your going out for milk and never return . . so for that . .. you shall rot . . . bye
@@jayedendunahee7479 Wait! There was a JOSH in this video, too? Too many J names. :/
I mean have you seen what meth has done to one of the political parties?? That and prescription pain meds ruined a whole party of rich senior citizens and jewish space lazer ladies. We need to study meth, nazis took it in the 40s and they hated black and Jewish people...the party that happens to do the most meth happens to hate black and Jewish people. Is it a chemical in meth that makes you racist? Or is one party basing their ideology off the teachings of Adolf so thats why they like meth? Shits wild haha
this is the only true crime channel I can watch and like fr , you do so good Mike love your videossss 💞
Saw this on First 48. Truly horrific. Thanks for covering. 💜
It’s really sad 😞 when no one is looking for you outside of missing a court date!
So many serial killers name victims that can't be identified because no one ever reported them missing even after finding the bodies. Some people are unloved.
@@abebuckingham8198 Thanks for mansplaining, Abe.
@@hiko73 It's unclear to me how you confused this conversation with an explanation when I explained exactly nothing.
@@hiko73 How was Abe's comment "mansplaining"?
It appears as though you felt like insulting someone for no good reason, or you have no idea what you're talking about.
I find it overwhelmingly sad that if that Jeff never came forward, they would’ve never found the Jamies body because no one was looking for him any way. Poor guy.
Jeff didnt come forward, Joey did...
@@benjaminhardesty2106 exactly! Jeff got away with murder imo
That's why you gotta watch how much you tell your partner. Nothing like them setting you up for murder because you forgot to put down the toilet seat. I mean how many times have men been through that?!
I wouldnt say a drug dealer is a "poor guy"
@@trossk well he did get killed and buried in a basement.
Omagosh Mike. Been a fan for so long. Didn't realize I hadn't subscribed . That fixed. I'm a fan.

Been watching these videos for years and only the second case I have came across by me! Crazy… great cover :) lew-uh-ville
I don't know why but I love that you show all these terrible people's dating profiles from prison.
I had no idea they existed until Mike showed me! It's bonkers
Just imagine where all the phones used came from...
I knew Jamie...I met him around 21 years ago. Long ago, he owned a car wash and detailing business in Huntington WV. I worked at a nightclub that he also worked at during the night. He was a mess back then and was completely addicted to cocaine and crack. My heart sunk when I found out what happened to him. His life was drug-filled, but he honestly did have a good heart. The drugs just controlled his better judgment and continued him on his path towards destruction.
I know too many fellas this way. Its sad, the path they took. Rest in peace to the lives lost and restore hope (in a non religious/cult way)

I like the whole show..but especially the start...
Keep up the good work!!!
Just in case anyone else was confused about the relationships in this story:
Joey = incarcerated &
Jeffrey = now released
Mike = lived to tell the story &
Jamie = murder victim
Wow! Thanks!
Lol, underrated comment.
Mike = lived to tell the story
...for now
That guy who lived to tell the story seem very suspicious, probably involved somehow. lol
It was a love square, then..
It’s been too cool seeing mike blow up in the past year. He seems like someone who would be a blast to chat with
"They really just wanted drugs, and a haunted house."
Im dying. That line was hilarious
Mike, you have a great channel. Love your presentation and your quirky, funny side :) You are very entertaining :)
