In the south of the Netherlands we actually celebrate Carnaval.
The vibe is comparable to King's Day, but then 5 days on a row and with a lot of tradition.

Hey! That’s so interesting! Does it happen during the same days of carnival as per the Christian calendar, like Brazil? Also, where do you think it would be a good place to go for the real dutch carnival? Maybe I will check it out one of these years :)

@@tripsterpanda Yes, Carnaval is exactly the same Christian tradition (just with worse weather :). You can go anywhere in Brabant or Limburg. There are parades with floats in every town and city like you have, just more Dutch and often themed around local issues (Google Image search "carnaval Nederland"). In Rotterdam in the summer there is Zomercarnaval ("summer carnival"), which has a parade that looks more like yours, as it is in the summer. Real Carnaval though is only being celebrated in the South.

@@tripsterpanda Yes, it's during the same days as in Brazil. It is celebrated in the Catholic villages and towns. These are mainly in the south of the Netherlands. Pretty much every village has his own parade and activities. I do not really have a recommendation because I stay pretty much in my own village during Carnaval.
