I live in the area of Australia where we have these gorgeous little parakeets all over our grassy areas.
You are so lucky to see them in the wild 😊
So jealous! I just for a gorgeous boy that's dappled
Name the area, I'll visit to see it🐦
Red rump or grass parrott, please what's it's real name🐦
Favourite parrott on terms of behaviour and colours🐦✅
She's so nicely behaved and gorgeous. I luv how she stares into the camera lol.
Wow 😍 Starfire is so calm & good 🥰 I just love her personality 💖 & nice to know about these grass parakeets 👍💕☺
This is so nice that Starfire has a great home in the bird room and lives in harmony with all the other small birds. I have never heard of Turquoisine birds before; I have always been a budgie owner. Anyway, please keep the videos coming. Hope to see the next species spotlight on Moustache parakeets; Marbles has become a real favorite of mine. Donna, you are so wonderful for putting out these videos, especially during this very trying time with the quarantine that requires us to stay at home.
Starfire says thank you for your donation for new toys for her.
😀

Hello again 🐦 and hello Star-fire ,
I think you might have answered my last question to you, on your other Linnie video .
I don't know what it is, but something draws me more to the Turquoisine species, i just have to find a good breeder now .
Thanks for these wonderful, informative videos 🐦 xx
@@m-o-l from what i understand, they are difficult to breed. I got mine from a excellent breeder in Cali whose mate had previously died. Another pairs female was having a hard time too and was receiving extra care. He told me that he was no longer going to breed them due to their difficulty. Mines named s Picasso. 😬
Wow it's my first time seeing it, it's so pretty 😍 and well behaved
Your bird is to beautiful
One of my favourite birds🐦
Wow! Starfire is gorgeous!
Omg they're so cute and colorful!!! They're like a little rainbow😭😭😭 soooooooo cute!!!
She is such a sweetie and is so beautiful.

Thanks for sharing🤗 Grass parakeets are stunning and adorable💛💛
Starfire is sooo beautiful!
Beautiful bird room!
They are so adorable! 👍💕
These are absolutely gorgeous! I've heard of the grass parakeet but didn't know much about them in aviculture. Thanks for sharing!
I’ve been following this channel for a while as I have an interest in pet birds. Last night I was watching dog grooming videos (I’m a dog groomer!) and I recognized the voice I was hearing, then I heard birds in the background. It was you wasn’t it?! You run the Love of Grooming channel!! ❤️
Yes that my channel 😃
❤
She's a beauty
That Rubbermaid bin is such a good idea, I’m going to try it out
Yay
So cute ❤️
Hi Caroline! Thanks for watching my video 😃
Love of Pets of course! Thank you for watching mine 🙏❤️🐦🐦🐦 birds forever
👍
Cute little birbs, thanks for the info!
Chock-a-block with insights. Wow. Thank you 🙏
She has awesome colours
I love her
I used to have Browzie, a beautiful elegant 'keet. Unfortunately he passed away at about 7 years of age. He never became tame, but would hop up on a stick. My blue crown still says ";hop up little birdie, hop up! Come on little birdie, hop up!" I tried for a long time to get Browzie to hop up on my finger.
Thank you. We just got one this week. We named it Skittle because of his colors. This is our first Turquoisine and not sure how to properly care for him as we've always had cockatiels. This video was very helpful.
Congratulations 🎉. Have fun with your new bird.
Lovely name Skittle
✨🌈✨
What a beautiful 🥰
I just bought one of this in melbourne, amazing and beautiful bird. Thanks for the info about this bird. Cheers
Omg the colors are so beautiful
Perfect!
Thank you.
hi! this is the parakeet i really want so this vid will be good for me!
How exciting! I have some videos on my channel that might help you out too!
YAY I'm so happy you finally made this video. I'm looking to getting one and this is what I needed since there isn't too many info about them
Thanks! Just got one 😍
Hi thank you for nice information
She’s beautiful
Hi Donna, I love ❤️ all your birdies.I just have my Timneh but it’s wonderful learning about all of your birdies, so very pleasant and educational.I love 💕 learning about the many species of birds and their habits and traits.its always a nice experience for me and I really enjoy all your videos. Thanks again for sharing.Take care , stay safe.
Nice information about them thanx
Si cute . Great video
It is so nice to see that she is looking after the birds so nice. And yes birds like to fly and bath. She has the big bath options for the birds.
They are in good hands.
Please do not let anyone have a bird if you know they will clip the wings. I try my best is a person is in to clipping wings. If they are they do not get a bird from me. And I hate going in to pet stores seeing all the birds with no wings.
That is animal cruelty. How many people will say something about that? No one. Because it is a store. And people think they know what they are doing.
But they do not at all.
I should not get all med. but it hurts me to see it.
I try not to go in to a pet store.
I so so enjoy your video. Please keep it up. And tell the world clipping wings is not an option.
And yes birds need calcium minerals everyday.
I hear it so often people say. All the minerals calcium. Is in the seeds. It is not. That is why if you give them a collarbone they will eat it.
I’m so glad to see a honest person shaving a video.
Thank you.
So cute
I'd love you to do a house tour! Title could be what a house looks like with 44 pets (I think that's how many pets you ve got)
Smashed up hard boiled egg complete with shell is a great food once a week for the birds too.
Hi I love your channel so much and I love your adorable birds, stay safe during quarantined i wish you all the best!
Biggest fan x❤
Wow
Very thorough presentation, well done! Your Starfire is almost as pretty as my own Starfire (Lutino Bourke). Missed seeing this in 2020, but it popped up in my column today. ;-)
Thank you kindly!
Thank you Donna ! Could you make a video on Starfires cute little voicings and peeps? And the Bourk keets as well ?
Hi, I was hoping to video his voice but all my birds are so noisy.
I may try to make one on their sounds once it gets warmer as I can put my other birds outside and leave them inside to video their voice.
Thank you for these species spotlights! I’ve never seen the Tourquoisine Parakeets until your video. Now I’m considering getting one or two in the future!
ya second!!!
Thanks for the information
Hi Donna again great info., at first when i glanced i thought u where holding a gcc, as u know i have a pinapple color Jake, his flight feathers are blue and when he's bathing, the blue flight feathers become neon blue close to a neon turquoise! Just lovly, i soon realized that you weren't holding a gcc, but boy amazing color, just gotta enjoy that coloring! Thanx Donna👍♥️♥️🎉the one your talking about doesn't look like a bugie, so is he a type of budgie? I think you said that he / she isn't a budgie! 🎉🎉as i listened again, my question was answered, not a budgie, a whole diff. Species! Kool🎉👍♥️
First to like
Love your channel
Good for you!!♥️
My red rump could say over 20 phrases .clipping wings I agree
Clipping wigs is a disgrace to cut the birds wings .i love that you say don't cut the. Wings
I have Scarlet Chested Parakeets which are a subspecies to Turcs.
Scarlet chested parakeets are so beautiful 😍
Where do you get your cages? I haven't seen one that wide
Maybe look for breeding cages, they tend to be wider!
My Bourke likes to mimic my whistle 😂
All your birds are gorgeous! How do you keep up with cleaning after pooing on the floor of the bird room? I have sensitive ears and leaning towards the turk or sierra because they are quiet, non-destructive, and don't bite hard enough to break skin. If I'm comfortable enough also add the GCC to the family.
It seems that a Bourke and a Turquoisine parakeet have a lot in common. Would they be happy together in a decent size flight cage and access to fly in a room? Thanks again for your informative great videos.
It depends on the birds. Some may fight. I would have them in their own cages and let them out together
Comparing Bourke, turquoisine parakeets and budgies, in general which one is the loudest and the quietest? Thank you.
Hi. Budgies are the loudest.
Ohh my gosh are these guys beautiful. I have an american budgie that seems much happier with other birds around, I wonder how keeping them together might go
Hi, mine are okay together but I have 7 budgies that play together. Not sure how one on one would go. They would definitely need separate cages. Budgies can be very pesky and are very active compared to Turquoisines. A Turquoisine can't keep up with a budgie
@@Loveofpets thanks so much for the info! Yes, I have noticed my budgie really likes to pester other birds haha.
I would love it if you could do a video of the bath you created with the pump!! That would be awesome
Hi, I do have a video on that DIY bird bath, here it is ruclips.net/video/dBgAzPGL8Mw/видео.html
You forgot the. Redrump parrakeet it's a grass parakeet
Have you owned a red rump . i am like you I love birds. i used to have a few averies but had to sell mine when my my spine went .miss them loads .ive not anything ulyet but looking for a Quaker or a rock pebbler .
Do one about blue bonnets
Hi I love your video, I bought one yesterday. He is so beautiful, but i was hoping to try and tame him. Can I take him out of the cage and hold him in my hands while i watch TV, or is this a bad idea?
Avoid holding him but allow him to sit on your finger, arm or shoulder if he wants to. Also, sit beside his cage and offer spray millet or simple hang out with him.
They don't like to be held.
She's so cute. Reminds me of a cheeto.
Donna, you are the best youtuber ever
I love all your feathered friends
You are the best mom for them
Can you make a video on tips to keep your birds healthy plz
I want that information for my birds
Hi, glad you enjoy my videos. I do have some enrichment and diet videos on my channel that will help but I may make one on how to keep your birds healthy in one video
@@Loveofpets please make a video on how to keep our birds healthy in this situation
@@Loveofpets thank you so much Donna. I am waiting for your next video
My budgie sort of hit his wing a little against my bed when he flew down. Not hurt but One of his feathers is now sticking out and it looks like it really bothers him. Not bloody or anything....at least not yet. I don’t know what to do. Can you give me suggestions?
It will probably fall out on its own.
👏👏😍😍
Great video Miss Dona, are these considered a small hookbill?
Yes, absolutely
@Loveofpets thank you for the wonderful information, would you recommend parakeet seed or small hookbill mix? I'm so confused 😕
I mix Cockatiel seed mix with canary seed mix for their dry food.
@@Loveofpets ♥️♥️👍👍🙏🙏
They are considered a Parakeet and also small hookbilks.
If you are looking for a bag of seed I can imagine it's hard as the bags say small hookbill and it could mean for conures or similar sized birds. Feed them Parakeet seeds with canary, finch and cockatiel seed mixed together. They eat smaller seeds with a few safflower and sunflower in moderation.
Remember that Budgie that you found in your backyard. He was my 🦢 that flew away.
I meant bird
Where can i get one?
This is an absolute gorgeous video so informative and detailed and very caring. I love it. Thank you so much.
I have four parakeets and have them regularly over the last 40 years. I would love to learn more about birds to hold them both those together because I love them so much they are all tamed well and I can kiss their belly they come on my head I can shower therm etc Everything is really sweet I love the interaction. I would probably like to provide for children a big aviary and would like to know which birds are best together to hold with them, so they create the most joy and sensitivity for the kids?
And which would be the best size to build as aviary ?
and where to get them best when I want to import them into a more tropical country ?
Thank you advance. If you can take your time to respond sending much love to you at the birds.
Hi, Cockatiels can go with Budgies in a large aviary, however avoid putting in nest boxes to breed as Budgies can hurt the Cockatiels.
The bigger the better for aviaries.
Google breeders in your area to find the birds that you are looking for. Also search your local classifieds for people looking for new homes for their birds. Join Facebook groups on the birds that you are considering and ask there.

How beautiful Is this nymph or lovebird the look like It Is very beautiful I love them a lot I had a couple of nymphs but the female died now I have nothing else I have the male
What do you hand feed your budgies?
Can you pls tell me which is the best parrot can be friendly and mimic human words
What do you think of the Omlet cage for a bourke, a turquoisine canary or a budgie?
Hi, its okay for a canary or budgie as long as they can come out to fly. A bourke or turquoisine need a wider cage
I keep Turks and Bourkes. (Bourke rhymes with turk, not the similar sound to the vowels in ‘talk’), and they are not called ‘parakeets’ here in their local environs… they are Grass Parrots here in Australia.
I adore the Turks, they chuckle and chatter and are really animated. I put prunings from the native flora in my garden into their aviary which they love (and shred). I also feed them seed heads from my ‘weed patch’ and lots of eucalyptus and bottlebrush flowers.
Their activity patterns match their natural environment…. Cooler mornings and evenings and hot days are very typical of eastern Australia, and many animals from the eastern sea board do have the same ‘schedule’. And I would not ever have them share even a large indoor aviary with any other species (inc Bourkes) as the Turks are most likely to be harassed by others, and not defend themselves. They are too easy going for their own good! Given their preferences for being low and on the ground, and not fighters, I am amazed they are still reasonably abundant in the wild! And watching a wild flock of Turks on a summer evening is an absolute joy.
They are a really nice bird to keep in an aviary. They respond to their family, are not particularly demanding (unlike many Australian parrots) and are extremely easy to care for. I am always amazed that they are not more popular as a ‘pet’.
Can these kind of birds live together with my bourke parkaeets ?
Hi, its best they are housed separate unless you have a very large aviary. Its a 50/50 chance that they may or may not get along
Beautiful birds Donna, it's a wonder their tails are so long when they are on the ground so much. It's pretty hard here to find these exotic birds, especially youngsters. If you get to a bird shop or a show they're usually older birds who hate humans. I'd like to ask what you think is a good choice of pet if you want a quiet bird that's quite large, that isn't dusty!
It's a hard question to answer as it depends on what you are looking for in a bird and they all make noise but some are louder than others. Senegals are on the quieter dude but they do have a call that is high pitched but they are not screamers. Female Cockatiels are quiet but dusty.
Some conures are on the quiet side. Avoid Indian Ringnecks as they are very noisy.
Hello,
I have a 20 days old baby budgie that i handfeeding him from day 7 and rescued from atacking parents. He grows feathers but is so tiny and i can feel his bones.Any advice? Really do not know how to proceed. Thanks!!!!
I'm adopting a girl soon who was born with small eyes and bad eye sight . Will she be ok in a large cage ? Advice is welcome . Her owner said she does not fly much at all and walks around the bottom of the aviary
Hi. Birds are very good at adapting to their environment. A large cage is ideal. Since she walks around on the bottom the bigger the better so she can walk further. If she tries to fly then she will have space.
I have a blind canary and he gets around good.
What are other birds that doesnt make much noise ?
How much are they $?
Do you happen to have any kind of photos of the various mutations?
Do you have another channel named love of grooming?
Yes that's my channel 😃
Thanks I have a male i am looking for a female in LA area :)
Cool tips
Glad to help
Donna, please tell me where I could find a baby male vividly colored turquoiseine to hand raise .....
Hi, I don't know where you could get one. Search online in your area, join grasskeets Facebook groups and ask if anyone is breeding. Search on kijiji
I wish I found this earlier
I have a 3 year old female turquoise parakette that is identical to yours.
She is an inside bird but I let her out, I’m now at the stage where I just leave her cage open for her to go in and out.
I'm thinking of getting one, but I'm worried my canary might hurt him if I let them out at the same time.
These are so cute! Are they a similar size to green cheek conures? (To be housed in the same aviary??)
Hi. They are smaller then a green cheek. Avoid housing them with green checks, its too dangerous. Green cheeks can severely hurt them or kill them.
I am thinking again of buying a single lovebird ...but I do not want a very loud vocal type. We live in an apartment and our neighbors might not like the bird loud chipping.
Can you recommend a soft type or low vocal lovebird?
They all make noise. They have a high pitched call.
I think they need to have a companion to be happy. They are all noisy 😬 maybe some zebra finches? I have one of these parakeets too and he sounds like a smoke detector that needs a battery change 😂
Hey, I have the same birds, but I have a problem that the female is kicking the male out of the nest. Why?
She probably doesn't like him or want him in the nest. Did they mate?
That beautiful how much does Is cost
Are they bigger than budgie?
They are the same size, maybe a touch bigger than a small Budgie.
I just started watching your channel love your birds I have a redback parakeet and I love him he sings so beautiful I just got him for my birthday I’ve been feeding him vegetables fruits and seeds but I’m not sure what kind of seed would be better do you know? Please advice thank you for your videos
Hi, I am not sure what a redback parakeet is. Do you mean you have a Turquoisine with a red back?
Love of Pets omg I just googled turquoisine and yes that is my baby lol I was told redback parakeet
Lol. Some breeders call them by color and not the species and not sure why, lol.
I feed mine a mixture of canary seeds and a cockatiel mix. Also I give them australian golden feast, they really love that. They also eat pellets. They like Tops Pellets, Tropican and Canary Zupreem fruit flavored.
I give them a chop mix with dark leafy greens in the morning and they all go and eat it.
Hope this helps.
Love of Pets where can I get the Australian feed you suggest and thank you 😊
Hi, you can check with your local bird stores. It's hard to find and not all stores sell it so I get it from Amazon. Here is the link amzn.to/3lf1dld
Hi Donna. Would a grass parakeet and kakariki be able to share a very large cage if I got them both at the same time from very young?
Hi. I wouldn't recommend housing them together. Kakarikis are so active and grass Parakeets are calm and docile. My Kakariki is attacking my turquoisine lately and have to let them out separately. When babies they may be okay until hormones kick in and they may harm or kill each other.
@@Loveofpets thank you. Would you say it'll be ok to have them together whilst young then seperate straight away if any issues? Both will be out alot. I'm home alot too.
It's best separately. Kakarikis are very active and can possibly stress the budgie.
