FYI: The M7 bayonet and the M8 sheath. In 1942 the Army and Marine Corps wanted to replace the M1 trench knife of WW1 issue. They could not decide so the Marines ended up with the KA-Bar, and the Army the M3 fighting knife. Since troops with rifles had bayonets, the M3 was issued to those who did not have bayonets IE: those who were issued pistols, Thompson's, M1 carbines, etc. They were issued with M6 leather sheaths. In 1944, the M1 Carbine was upgraded with a bayonet lug. Rather than design a new blade, the M3 was fitted with a new plastic handle, bayonet lug lock and barrel ring. The leather M6 leather sheath was discontinued and the M8 plastic sheath came into being. These are still being used today on the M1 Garand, M1 & M2 Carbines, and M16, M4. The only thing that was saved was the knife blades. (see EBay, M3 Fighting Knife.) I have an M3 knife and M6 sheath.
I really like bayonets,to me it makes a fighting rifle complete. Unfortunately in my state a bayonet and a muzzle brake and anything over 15 rounds turns an AR into a assault rifle. I want one for my mosin 91/30 and my M1917 Enfield,they are huge and intimidating.
M9 bayonet is very strong blade and cuts the wire easier than ak. The Marine issue OKC-3S bayonet and it resembles K-bar knife and the replace the Vietnam era m7. The current generations m9 and OKC-3S bayonets
Thanks for the review. The USMC bayonet looks like the one to buy. Was there any wobble in any of the bayonets while affixed to the rifle ? And if so which one was the worst ? Does Gun Webistes carry these bayonets and at what price ? thanks again.
Damn I had my own personal Buck made M-9 when I was in Bosnia. I snapped the blade and did not know they would have fixed it for free. Now they won't touch the M-9 for repair. Guess lifetime warranty does not really mean lifetime. They sent me some other knife back I have no interest in.
@wcropp1 Also, I really like knives/bayonets, and as far as the M-16/AR-15 goes, that new OKC-3S marine corps bayonet looks pretty sweet. Too bad they don't work on M4 clones.
Sorry,That was not a dig at you, but a statement about out current occupant of the White House. It came up during a debate with Mitt Romney, trying to show Romney was ignorant, but the Pres. is clueless that bayonets are still issued.
Hey folks. ....a little F.Y.I. for ya.... In Canada we still use the M7 but ours have a metal shieth and something a little different. You see, up here, our M7 is coated in poorly atached Teflon. Theory being, blood sticks to Teflon, pulls Teflon off blade, introduces Teflon to circulatory system, causes blood clot - you die!... Also in our military it is a chargeable offence to sharpen or use your bayonet for a cooking tool! re: Teflon in blood. Crafty Canadians huh?
@@alexbarry689 Yep, sure does. Fortunately, it's only an "urban myth" cooked up by half witts. They just have really bad anti-rust paint on them. Nothing but the finest cheap crap that can be bought with financial kickbacks to the political pundit in office of the ridding in which the products are made ! Gotta love politics. :-) If your going to going a military, ...nothing less than The USA !
As nice as the M10 USMC bayonets are, their scabbards are complete dogshit. Those things are so fragile it's not even funny. They WILL break if you drop them with the blade inside. I work in an armory and one of my Marines dropped one on accident during inventory and the scabbard broke in two.
I miss the shop on Broadway. I grew up in that hood and would visit often

@crosshairjunky
the M-10 is just an EOD version of the M-9 I read..
The m-7 is my favorite and always will be. Tuff as they come and handy as hell :)
I have one of those from my grandpa the loop hole that slides over the barrel is bent. (It got used well)
the narration is very soothing.
@2:30 lol, "definitely could use it as a knife"
Great video! I'm kind of fascinated by bayonets!
@TheHossUSMC
Millers here in town, but it's a few dollars cheaper online, I'll send you a link
im so pleased they added serration in the newest iteration (hey, that rhymes!) of the bayonets.
The m9 was made by lancay buck phrobis and Ontario
so those bayonets will fit to any m16/ar15 style rifles beacuse i have a M16 SPR 22lr and i wanted to get a bayonet for it
@BrutalWaffle
Maybe after I know Hoss has secured one.. hate to see him loose out
@quimbyt
like a boss.. well done
Is that a lightweight middy? I didn't know anyone made such a beast? Discussed in another video somewhere?
M7 is the best
Because Mid length is the correct set up to use anyway to begin with when using a 16 inch barrel.
the m7 is nice and lite on the mossy 590.
great vid.
There are Vietnam era m7 bayonet and Modern Era M9 with wire cutter and Marine issue okcs-3

What is the barrel length on your rifle? Are these bayonets made for a 14.5" or 16" barrel?
And in case anyone is asking, it takes 3, 3 round bursts to get a insurgent unstuck from your bayonet typically.

thats crazy, i have the exact ones you have, down to the brand and colors, even the same color and magpul funiture
There is a M-10 (newer) version available for US Army. I call mine Mr. Stabby..
which one fits the m4 carbine profile?
Thanks this is an interesting video..
@Hiluxtaco
bayonets are back !!
Thanks for the review. The USMC bayonet looks like the one to buy.

thanks again.
Will the OKC-3S fit my M1A Springfield Armory .308?
Robert Pierson
No that's a m6
Awesome!
Wear can I buy one
Yes that is an m8 sheath but there is such a thing as a us m8a1 bayonet
@jmmurdy

@BrutalWaffle
Hoss is a big deal on the internet..
(normal people can use Google)
@crosshairjunky
good info
@MrRUSS808
no one else can handle them.. so, we do the heavy lifting
USMC bayonet is the best, by far.
The M9 looks the same as what the F88 AUS Steyr uses, can anyone clarrify?
★★★★★
Cool Bayonets sir!
Pres. Obama didn't think bayonets were still used either, and he's our Commander in Chief. Good grief.
Add a wire cutter to the USMC blade and I’d be happy. Incorporate a real triple-ground saw to the back and I’d be in ecstasy.
The olive drab sheath and grip on m9s indicate government issue black colored ones are for civilians for Ontario ones anyway

@glynn72 Multi-tools have that covered.
I like m9
"You definitely can use it as a knife", captain obvious.
the K-Bar

Fighting fair is for hosers, dontcha know.
Sounds like a BS story to me
And if it is true it sounds like a war crime and a half

That's called hyperbole.
