So many of you reached out in comments / messages - explaining why you left and why you cannot come back. I hear you - i admit that it's been our failure over the years to reward hard work / talent / honesty .... now other nations profit from us. I just hope that with this video - more people realize the problem (solution is far way)
It's a shame for our country that a large number of people have left India and also a large number of students have done suicide. We are responsible for this because of us only large number of people have left India. I respect those Indians who have left India and make us feel proud but unfortunately its a big shame for our country and we should not celebrate this and I knew this when I was in class 6
Solution is not far away if the work starts from higher level. In place of manipulating and doing politics, people should start WORKING. It's not difficult and it's not far, It is just a matter of intentions.
I had a classmate who was depressed during the whole Bachelors because he couldn't get into IIT now he's settled in US and MD of the company , he says to me even now that IIT would have actually made him stay here. His CS project was awarded and recognized in US but in India nobody approved for his research.
Our system not only ignores but kills the talent. Elsewhere talent is nurtured and allows to blossom. Many not so extraordinary or rather if I could be blunt enough to say that many ' average' people are doing well because the system abroad allowed them to realise their potential.
So true. In India getting into IIT is super difficult with so much competition. The curriculum in most colleges is so theoretical and companies recruit by the college name
Very easy answer, you have to work hard to be a government officer and then you have to salute a neta who is most probably that drunker out side of your school.
A boy was rusticated from our school, 10 years ago in class-IX with proper reasons and proofs. Now he is a councillor of our locality. Even the Headmaster of our school is bound to salute him in case of any functions in school. Progress indeed! From WB.
I am currently in Canada, working As a Mechanical Technologist. Just pointing out on the note of skilled labour. Welders like skilled labour force is earning more than mid-level engineers. In india no one even asked the salary of welders.
@rooo even if you consider purchase power parity , salries are much much higher in Canada . Even MBA graduates ( top 25 colleges) are frustrated in India because of the pathetic in hand salary
I never wanted to leave India, though I’m a Chartered Accountant and most of my friends who studied with me left India almost 10 years ago. However, post 2019, my mind has been changed - after the birth of my child, I can’t imagine him growing up in the mess that we are in. Why should he also adjust and compromise his entire life? Unfortunately we are stuck in a cycle of hate, religious dogma and ethical degeneration that only seems to grow with every passing day. I want a better life for my child. Edit: 5 months after this post, I have moved with my family permanently to Europe.
All the best sir with your decision a parent knows best for their child no country or govt can decide that. Have a wonderful life in any country you go to.
@@Focused76 thank you! I started questioning the “sab chalta hai” attitude that we grew up with, only after I became a parent. We have compromised and adjusted, but there is no reason our children also have to.
@@dhananjaypatil3116 that is true, I can still invest back. However, to be honest, NRIs say that just to feel less guilty of their decision to leave. I feel very bad about myself even thinking of leaving my motherland - but unfortunately the economic, social, political situation today has become untenable, and I can’t imagine how it will be when my son becomes an adult (he is just 3 now). If I don’t take this step now, I know he will suffer. So I must make the sacrifice for his betterment and future.
@@mohamedfaizan9844 Your decision is perfectly understandable and you must not feel guilty. See , this is not just about investing back in India. India benefits in many ways by the Indians settling abroad. They have acted as India's cultural ambasadors. Whatever standing India has in this world is owed to millions of those who worked hard and contributed to their adopted countries in big way. Paradoxically Modi actually benefitted and exploited this very goodwill generated by our diaspora. If mainland India were to degenerate it is our people elsewhere who may help us rejuvenate India. As a person from a middle-class family, I can totally relate to this. Most of my friends are planning to settle abroad irrespective of their career paths. With the advent of low-cost migration options like Germany, Norway, etc even the lower-middle-class people are trying their best to get out of the country. Settling abroad is much better than struggling for daily wages in India. Unless India does something to reverse this trend, the number of people leaving the country will only increase in the upcoming years.
If a person has assured 50 lakhs or more then this is possible. Otherwise studying & staying overseas is very difficult even in Norwegian countries . Also, tho Canada makes it easy to study & migrate there but jobs are in America & Australia.
@@ironman6461 Living Cost is expensive. Most Undergrad Institutes that offer Education at no cost have courses in German. For jobs language is a big barrier. Plus European Union students are given preference for jobs. Students from India can work 120 full days / 240 half days per year.. That money is never enough to cover Living Cost . Not sure what's the limit but tax applies on earnings in the range of 400/500 Euro per month . And Living expense on an average is double that amount. Canada, Germany etc run Education like a business. And International students are among their biggest source of Income. Govts facilitate this with various rules. Their aim is to have the students getting money from their home country into these countries. And not that students earn so much while studying overseas that they have no need for money from their home country.

Im living in Canada from 4 years, have studied from here, wanted to move back to India, even went there spent 6 months there trying to get a license for consultancy firm, never got it!! Finally decided to come back to Canada again
Yup...India is a not business friendly. Unless you have any political connection or know someone in the office, getting a license for anything is tough and a tedious process. In fact, it's made that way by the government itself to help and protect the interest of the existing businesses in that particular field from newer competitions. If you want to setup any new venture, first you'll have to struggle finding relevant info about all the licenses you'll need. Someone will say you'll need this license and somebody will say you don't need this license. Unnecessarily wasting your time and money/capital. Then there's the bureaucracy and corruption part. No way an average citizen can open a business easily. Then there's GST. You'll spend most of your time solving compliances than running the business itself. It's a clusterfuck.
I tried my best as a Doctor in India. When I went to engineering colleges as a Dentist wanting to study engineering they laughed me out of their silly little echo chambers. I applied abroad and they welcomed me with open arms. They gave me skills and supported my research. So, today, I can proudly say that I’m a Dentist, a master of information technology and a pilot. No one looks at me funny or assumes I have an agenda based on my name or religious identity. I am safe and secure. I breathe clean air. Why should I come back to a country obsessed with hate and “othering”?
That's about the shallow mentality and lack of vision among Educationists in India. @Parwez, you can also check a vid by Brut. A lady did MBBS after her degrees in Engineering stream. But suddenly by end of 2015 i realised Bjp is trying to rule us like china and trying to be a authoritarian state. I decided to move out early 2016, still was confused about my decision but Notebandi and Gst made my decision strong. I finally moved to Canada in 2019. Hi Akash, I worked for two years as a Postdoctoral Researcher (after PhD) in China at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. I want to mention, I got all emails from the Chinese academy of sciences. I found the most important thing every month, I got some emails for funds for creative ideas (project). It is very easy to get research funds if you have any creative ideas. The main idea of the Chinese government is if any technology exists in the world it should be in China whatever money they required for research. Now I am working in Italy with the University of Bari and INFN Bari (Like DAE in India, INFN is very reputed, this year INFN scientist got noble prize in Physics). Great episode, me being a student have already planned to move to foreign nations for studies and maybe even permanent settlement. Oppressive and narrow-minded society along with extreme academic pressure and inappropriate parenting(not trying to defame parents, they sacrifice a lot and want our bests in their hearts but that isn't an excuse for inappropriate parenting) are the biggest issues for me. Maybe in future, employability, job security and work culture are gonna add to this too as we already know how exploitive is Indian job market. Toxic politicians and almost no attention towards the education and healthcare sector adds to problems. Hope things change in India soon.

People who can afford education in a foreign country can go. But sadly, for most even if they want to go they can't afford it. So they have to deal with this system the best they can. I myself had a chance once to go abroad for my higher studies, but sadly my father couldn't afford it. The banks would also not give loans (you know how difficult it is to get a loan from bank for an average person, while not so difficult to get thousands of crores for the famous and wealthy so that they can scam the banks and run to foreign countries).
My Sister and brother in law became citizen of Australia few years back and a couple of month earlier their daughter was suffering from rare brain disease. This is the most heartbreaking issue in India. As a software engineer I see tons of opportunities to move abroad and settle. But I seriously don’t wanna leave. Because I’ve my family here, I love the city where I grew up and lucky enough to get a pretty decent job here. I live in constant dilemma thinking about my future generations. I want them to grow up in the laps of their grandparents like we did and not in an isolated foreign land. But the current regime, the degradation in society, culture and every aspect is really scary. Already 60% of my friends have left and another 30% are trying to leave. We need to change this trend at any cost.

I can relate 95% of my engineering batch mates 3000+ are all in USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Singapore, Sweden etc. 98% cousins, 50% friends, even many neighbours. After 2013 there was a storm. Mostly due to west recovery in economy while it was reverse here.
Did you do you 12th and Bachelors from Punjab, Delhi region? Just asking, as it depends on the region as well. I did my bachelors in Punjab, and most of my batchmates there always talked about moving to foreign countries Canada, USA, Australia, etc. In fact, around 60% of my friends I'm in contact with from my college are now already in USA, Canada, Australia, etc. Then I did my masters degree from Kolkata, and there, there weren't that many people who were eager to go abroad. I know only 6 people from my university in kolkata, who have settled in abroad. Rest of my friends are still in India, in Bangalore or Pune (although most of them have visited foreign countries on an on-site projects , but came back to India).
Make sure that you give time for your dating life. Find your partner before you starting working in india, because in arranged marriages, your not considered successful if you are not abroad. So most likely your options will be greatly limited

Most important issue is in India even after scoring high marks in an entrance exam you are not guaranteed admission in a good college, the difference in quality between premier and non premier institutions is huge. I myself was shortlisted for IIM calcutta interview round but I was put on waitlist. If the gap between Tier1 and Tier2 and Tier3 institutions is reduced, this can stop to some extent.
We have caste based reservation which leaves many deserving candidates out of good institution......was it brought in education system 7yrs ago or 70 yrs back
Me and my husband live in Singapore and are Australian PR. We really really want to come back as we love our country. But again the question of employment and better salaries arises. Wish we could come back.
Look at other factors too: 1. Casteism destroying talent. Promotion of privileged as meritocracy 2. Hatred for large sections of population 3. Justice based on who you are, rather than what you do. 4. Corruption at all levels and in all forms 5. Importance to nuisance value rather than utility value

When we moved to US in 1998, I always had a dream of going bac (which is certainly looking like a good plan for the next 5-6 years). The reasons you mentioned in this show are the exact reasons why we hesitated/ hesitate. I have always said "India has 3 P problems- population, pollution, and politicians" I have the vision to fix some when I move back with the skills I have gained living here. But my biggest fear is that we Indians hate each other so much that forget about supporting such visions and talents, we take the chopper board and butcher each other before we talk about supporting talents. We lack the vision to support progress and grow with progress. Instead, we focus on how do we make sure no one grows. To have a progressive mindset the most important trait is to learn to support each other. China and the Chinese got that part right. They work on collaboration not the destruction of each other.
Han Chinese are a single unit population. Not a chaotic mixed back of over-diversity like India. So they are way less prone to internal conflict. Also China's internal politics is Very Very different from India's. A single stamp of approval from Beijing and you can do whatever the heck you want in their whole country. Not the same in India where everybody behaves like emperors No comparison between India and China.
Look at this problem from a politician's point of view: The smart people from my country are going to other countries and are realizing their potential. But, at the same time they are still connected to their families here. This means that they are sending back remittances (the highest in the world) back to my county. Not only are these remittances reducing my CAD, these guys are also sending back money that is invested in the real estate, stock market, etc in my country. So, I still win. Another advantage is that I can use these smart people as an example of "India's Greatness" as an election pitch. Now, if these people stayed in my country, I would have to provide a bunch of infrastructure improvements for their growth or else these guys will vote me out. That's a lot of work. Its better for me to let these guys leave the country and send back money while I keep on stealing from the country by fooling the gullible people here. I have no incentive to stop the brain drain. This is nothing new. States such as UP, Bihar, Orissa have been doing this within the country for decades.
I left my country in 2012, I had to work hard to live a good life here in Canada. I am financially doing great here, and if I go back to my country now, I will get a better job based on my current work experience and education; I will be a lot richer in my country. But I won't go back for many non-financial reasons. 1. Security- I want my family and children to have security and safety. Women of my family should have a safe life and enjoy their freedom. 2. Free health Care(all treatment free): Canada has excellent healthcare, even for homeless people. Even if I don't have a single dime, I know I won't die without healthcare. 3. Political stability - Corruption, Gangster attitude of current government and politicians don't encourage me to leave a stable country. 4. Peace- I like to live in a country with mental peace.

Indian living in the USA for the last 7 years: These people who are leaving their Indian citizenship had left India 15-20 years ago (at least in the USA, it takes decades to get US citizenship) and another reason this is happening because one can't hold dual citizenship when holding an Indian passport, that's why they have to submit their Indian passport.

This video is absolutely spot on. Entrepreneurs of small & mid companies have to face a lot of challenges to keep things afloat. And when they keep facing the same issues without any proper solution provided by the government, they finally decide to take the step. Because for the same amount of efforts, they get much better results. Also, entrepreneurs, before they get substantial amount of success, they have to face a lot of social stigma which demotivates them in the long run.
And unless, there is any real change at the ground level, this will continue.
Changes like?
Totally agree, I am living abroad and miss my family terribly but also demotivated to come back because of the poor health, education systems and lack of good work opportunities and work environment.
Did you do you 12th and Bachelors from Punjab, Delhi region? Just asking, as it depends on the region as well.
We have caste based reservation which leaves many deserving candidates out of good institution......was it brought in education system 7yrs ago or 70 yrs back
@@dhirajm551 lol! Majority IIT IIM graduate jate hai bahar!
Me and my husband live in Singapore and are Australian PR. We really really want to come back as we love our country. But again the question of employment and better salaries arises. Wish we could come back.
Look at other factors too:
1. Casteism destroying talent. Promotion of privileged as meritocracy
2. Hatred for large sections of population
3. Justice based on who you are, rather than what you do.
4. Corruption at all levels and in all forms
5. Importance to nuisance value rather than utility value
Agreed

Thank God you people are so rich that you can plan such things
Here we are who cannot even dream of flying in a plane.
Thanks to the economic divide created by our politicians.
@@perplexed_mindRUclips well I am not. Will be able to move only if I get scholarship.
@@perplexed_mindRUclips neither am I, see if you really you want something, you'll find a solution, if not you'll just find an excuse. Scholarships are great way to make this happen.
@@perplexed_mindRUclips people who are migrating are not rich. This is a big misconception. I know lot of people who applied student loan and got masters degree settled in Europe and USA.
Not the same in India where everybody behaves like emperors
No comparison between India and China.
hate is planned, the big suspect or evident here is RSS and its hatred activities
Great insight!
This is what I was thinking about

So much information with actual clarification in one VD. Thank you.
