Shoutout to the cameraman who risked his/her life to go to other worlds just to film this. What a legend.

I've watched it. For a show that's titled Alien Worlds, I ended up learning so much about Earth. I actually like it. The alien parts are also very interesting and sometimes intense. But, having watched this show and thinking about its premise, I can't help but wanting a 'real' Alien Worlds series where the series is 80% showing Alien Worlds in the style of wild documentaries with 20% of it are scientists interviews about relevant subjects.
This show reminded me of a faux documentary on Discovery Channel that did what you described. I'm sorry I don't recall the name it's been some time.

Also, being a Pencil-and-Paper RPG nerd, it gives me ideas for critters to use in the game ^_^
However, I don't have Netflix, and don't think its worth picking up for this alone, so I'll wait until its on DVD as well, I guess.
Alternative title: "Why do things keep evolving into crabs"
I would believe that if the pressures are similar to earths on some other planets life forms may evolve in similar ways even resembling some of the species here on earth
@@samuelmonroy_05 you didn't get what he meant to say, on earth other many species have evolved into crab shaped animals. It happens so often that the phenomenon has its own name.
I believe this phenomenon is called carcinisation, where most crustaceans evolve into crab-like forms over time.
Carcinisation is one part of a bigger phenomenon called convergent evolution. Other example is the formation of wings in seemingly unrelated animal groups, or photosynthesis in many different plant forms.
Carcinization isn’t real. It evolved in specifically Arthropods only like five times. The crocodile bodyplan has evolved at least 8 times in various, unrelated clades such as amphibians, mammals, and reptiles
Pretty sure this comment is a reference to a youtube channel guys, he is not really asking about the convergent evolution of crabs.(the channel is pbs eons they had the exact same title, i assume that is the reason op commented this)

Wasn't there an older alien documentary?
A spec-evo series about aliens, for Netflix, and with THE Darren Naish himself helping to make this much needed and welcomed project into a thing?? HELL YES LET'S GOOOO!!!!
Title is all wrong...the documentary is 70% from Earth. Wished it was more :(
Exactly and a lot of WTF assumptions here. They are just trying some speculative
landscapes that are surely not even close to what ET life really could be.
The problem is not the assumptions, they're kinda needed, but the fact that 70%(maybe less since after each earth part there's a recap of the aliens one) it's an earth wildlife documentary is what bothers me. They could've went crazy creative but just copied what's here on earth.
Okay but that doesn't mean you also have to include exact copies of what inspired you in your artwork. You create something from the inspiration that's usually so unique compared to the inspiration that the comparison between the two should not be the first thing that comes to mind when most people look at it, you don't just copy/paste pictures of the thing that brought your artwork to life in your head on a canvas and then do a doodle in the corner next to it. That's what this series does by spending more time on earth when the literal name of the series is Alien Worlds. I don't go to an amusement park to spend 30% of my time on rollercoasters and 70% of my time getting a physics lesson. If you're gonna give something a name as descriptive and attention grabbing as Alien Worlds at least make it MOSTLY about them. Or even at least half of the screen time.
But the worlds are incredibly biologically justified, it's not fantasy, it's a speculative scientific work considering the conditions on earth and apply those mechanisms in hostile environments. If they have go completely crazy and imaginative, the series would have been classified more like fantasy. I like the science base for it.
But sometimes its hard or very harder to make Extraterrestrial realistic. It can took a long time and alot of effort and hard work to make it look realistic and cost alot of money to make Extraterrestrial look realistic.
