@@BHauck-os9sy hey, I would suggest you to try the action that makes him growl gently, treat and repeat it as much as possible. That will desensitize the puppy to the action. And it's better to do that when he's still small and learning. Other wise the growling and snapping behavior ends up being stronger.
My pup shepherd/ boxer mix has always growled when tired and picked up to bring to her bed/crate whatever. At first it almost sounded to the point she would bite, but she never did. Now she growls, or lets out a funny squeal gets picked up and we all just have a good laugh. I also at first thought she may have andinjury, but If she isn't tired, loves being picked up. Just a Drama queen.
All three of our dogs recently started growling whenever they are picked up (only when I start to lift their back halves) or pushed to make room on the bed. I can pick them up any other time in any other way with no problems. They still don't LIKE being picked up, but they're fine about it until I try to lift their rear end when they lay on their sides. I tested our main offender this morning, and she let me pick her up under the arms just fine; no muss, no fuss and barely even a groan. I tried to move her later when she was on her side, but she wasn't having it. She snapped in the direction of my hand a few times, but didn't come close to biting me. Once I put her in her new spot, she calmed down, licked me, then proceeded to lay on my arm and fall asleep. I have felt her all over to look for sore spots, but she never finches or tenses or moves away when I touch her bum. I can pat them, pet them, scratch them, kiss them, and anything else I might need to as long as I don't pick them up sideways. We're getting two of them vaccinated tomorrow, so I'll ask the vet then. Our boy is already vaccinated and neutered. Lol.
having a similar issue. When I go to pick up toy poodle when she is comfy on bed she growls. Checked for any pain points but could not find anything. I wonder if she just growls because she likes to where she is currently.
My boy didn't do it when we were alone, now we are in an unfortunate situation where there is 2 others around and a dog... Could it be because there's no longer that aloneness??
My puppy sometimes growling at me... 1st he used to growl when I mop.. But nowadays when I say NO Or SCOLD him he is growling.. Pls help wat to do?? Is my puppy aggressive?? I really need it very friendly.. I hv two yrs old toddler... Pls help. Love from India 🇮🇳.
My dog just turned 2 and started growling and now biting whenever I even say the "pick up" command. He was okay with his his whole life (Ive had him since 8 weeks) and now I cant even say the command or even attempt to pick him up (hes a small dog and needs to be picked up at times)
When ever I go out he come along with me , and when I tell go and pick home out he growls , it’s not the same when I pick up when I am at home it’s depends on his mood
My puppy does this too. Did yours end up outgrowing this? I've only had my puppy for 1 week and didn't start doing this until day 5. It seems to be when he's sleepy more than anything.
Mine won't eat his food or treats, so I can't use them to train him. He's not injured and there's no clear reason why he's doing it to me. The only thing I can come up with is that he doesn't like it when I remove him from a situation. Today, he snarled and growled after we went bye bye in the car and I was trying to pick him up to take him back into the house. Ten month old Chihuahua.
Thank you for this helpful video! Here I was thinking my 11 week old puppy was becoming aggressive and you helped me understand the growling.
