Sega need to release a arcade racer collection across all platforms, or a collection of the model board games. Was a shame Sega Ages on the Switch only lasted a little while
For a one man development this looks phenomenal. I really like the sensation of speed you get watching the gameplay footage. Unfortunately I no longer own a PC….Game over YEAHHHH 😭
Good review Dan, I'm totally with you on the handling and the slightly crazy physics - that hard right, right at the beginning of the first stage, felt really hard to consistently take in the early version I played, like you had to start hitting the brakes before you got even got the warning about it from your co-pilot.
Just realised as well, this looks like this is a more advanced version you're playing here than the one I was using, there weren't any brake light effects working when I last tried this.
Cheers! That was something I noted that occasionally you need to react to a turn before the navigator calls it. I'm i it'll be sorted out. I think the handling is the biggest talking point, I grew to love it, but I can see why people may not even after tweaking the options. But it's still early access and I'm sure this game is only going to get better - Dan
over jump rally is totally on another level in my opinion; only to hope to have SEGA officiality for tracks, brands and cars. this ddi rally is really poor for me..... can't compete with the real sega rally.....
This channel came up in my YT recommendations today. As a Sega fan, I love the content produced here and may have to binge watch your video uploads. Keep up the great content.
I just bought this on Steam early access for £9.99, enjoying playing it so far. Tracks are a bit sparse of other cars but this is in the early stages of development. Thanks for letting us know of this games existence.
I love pick up and play racers…the switch port of virtua racing is amazing, and it’s crazy SEGA does not go down that approach for releasing older titles. I guess they hate money….
Very nice and it's amazing that one person made it all. As per the voice calling out directions being female, I think that's a Dreamcast thing as you could switch between a male or female voice. To this day I still play Sega Really on the Saturn and DC, using the official steering wheels just to chill out. Pump up the volume, lights out, steering wheel connected and drive like it's a '90s rally with no cares in the world.
Interesting! I can tell (somehow) from the footage that the handling is different from SR. Unfortunately, my eyes rolled when the VRally comparison came up !
You can tweak the handling and sensitivity, this was how it felt on default, but honestly as a V-Rally disliker it DDI feels far better to me and I really enjoyed it
I hope the dev comes up with a crunchy 32/64bit color and texture mode later on. SEGA Rally's graphics is part of what made it so iconic for me :D Otherwise, it's kinda cool to see all these classic SEGA racing games getting so much fan love recently. Hotshot Racing is another one of my favorites in that sense albeit it aims more for the Virtua Racing type of gameplay, maybe some Daytona USA also.
@@DDIRacingStudiook cool you got a email address I can contact you on or Facebook ? I’ve got a modded Arcade1up machine turned in to sega rally championship 1995 and would love a physical copy please 😊
I'm glad it's only $12, because it very much feels like a Dangerous Driving>Burnout situation where you file the serial numbers off and change the handling and it changes everything - but it is a fun wonky racer
This looks cool but it will need a decent crt emulation effect option to make those simple but tidy graphics shine & it could defo do with some kind of simple wheel support i.e no horrible Xbox controller unchangeable deadzone methinks
Overjump is a remake so it's ultimate aim is to replicate the original game in UE, so it's naturally closer. DDI Rally's courses are wholly new and stand alone with a Sega Rally feel. I think both approaches are valid and we should be thankful we have talented individuals giving us experiences in the vein of Sega Rally - Dan
@@SEGAGuys Agreed, what I don't understand though, is the beef between the developers of both games, OJR actually blocked DDI and there is this weird debate going on twitter about OJR being an "Asset Flip that is Poorly Optimized".
nice try but it's a very bad copy of sega rally..... nothing to do with sega rally. tracks are so anonymous and boring..... for now my vote is 5/10, and I feel generous... sega rally is another planet! these are indie games devoloped by one person; can't compete with SEGA am2 team or am3 team games.
Sega need to release a arcade racer collection across all platforms, or a collection of the model board games. Was a shame Sega Ages on the Switch only lasted a little while
It's nice but it drives nothing like Sega Rally. That is why Sega Rally is so great, and having 4 short stages is never a problem for that game.
I noticed that too. Looks like the guy is driving with a D-pad. Very rough.
It's not supposed to be an exact replica of the original game, but I do see your point.
For a one man development this looks phenomenal. I really like the sensation of speed you get watching the gameplay footage. Unfortunately I no longer own a PC….Game over YEAHHHH 😭
Fear not, it's coming out on consoles later in the year. Please tell me you own a console?! 😀
I have a PS4 gathering dust 😂

I'll be keeping an eye on this one. There is also Over Jump Rally still being developed so it will be interesting which of the two turns out best.
over jump rally is totally on another level in my opinion; only to hope to have SEGA officiality for tracks, brands and cars. this ddi rally is really poor for me..... can't compete with the real sega rally.....
But that game is a remake, DDI is a spiritual successor seemingly of the new Sega Rally's
@@ethanwayne6973 at the actual state DDI is very far from sega rally, also compared to saturn version. but I'm sure it will be improved.
@@alessandronobili80s it's almost spot on to the newer (worse) Sega Rally's
I've been doing some Time Trial runs for this game, and as a fan of classic arcade racers, i think DDI Rally Championship has potential.

This is the closest to replicating Sega Rally without risking action lawsuits, and I'm all in for it!

Looks f**king amazing mate!! Damn I wish I never sold my Dreamcast ma!
Awesome video as always guys!
Nothing beats the original 1995
Looks good stuff. If it was exactly the same thered be no point to going back! Ill keep an eye on this.

I already have a CRT option & I've been considering the pixelated option too.
The lighting is completely fu'ed up
Outstanding!
Give me a Ridge Racer Remake.
why not ;)
the requirements of a GTX 1070 for a minimum graphics?
for retrô graphics.
Pure love
great video
I also saw "Over Jump Rally" on Steam, but not sure what the status is on that one.
Not seen an update on Overjump for a while. There was a demo of Forest, but not sure beyond that - Dan
We are still alive and very well, don't worry ;)
Sega Rally any spirtual succesor. Im all in
Is this going to be on a games console and a physical copy ?
It's planned for xbox, playstation and Switch later in the year and I'm in talks regarding physical releases

This looks great for a playable beta but the physics look wildly off. What's with the hyper sensitive steering? Hopefully this is addressed
The sensitivity is tweakable in the settings menu and it also has full force feedback wheel support
Just bought this - we should be supporting these small but perfectly formed developers!!!
Looks better than VRally any rate 😎✌️
Lanica Delta 😂
Please bring split screen for this game.
2:27 What happened to the spoiler there?
does it work on steam deck?
Hi, it's steam deck verified 👍🏻
Is this the current version of Over Jump Rally?
No, this is an entirely different game.
Sega rally even the sega saturn version. Looks better.

It's got a CRT option and has full forcefeedback wheel support with telemetry output for dashboards.

This looks much more amature physics wise than Sega Rally
play rally one on mobile. that's pretty fun
I love this❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
Like and subscribed!!!
Seems to play like Sega Rally 2 rather than the original. SR 2 gameplay was crap.
LONG EASY RIGHT, MAYBE !!!!!
I’ll give it a go but like others the handling looks way off from the original
Why is he doing this when it's already being done on Over Jump Rally much better? Odd.
Over Jump is remaking Sega Rally in Unreal Engine 5. DDI is an original game, there is plenty of room on the market for both titles.

Yes, it has full force feedback wheel support with telemetry output for dash displays
@@DDIRacingStudio whoa nice! I really didn't expect that. I'll definitely check it out. Thank you so much 🤩
@@jennabarton433 No problem! Thanks for your interest. I never understood racing game developers who don't add wheel support!
Jesus, slow those cars down!
too much graphical effects for my taste, should be more like a 90ies arcade in terms of graphics.
Basic physics compared to Sega Rally here
Force feedback??
@@cricketgreen6284 Yes. All DDI racers have wheel support and force feedback.
Imagine if Sega was smart enough to do a game like this..😢
