- I use the Guide to go back to the Cordon. There I discover that Multitool can do most all the upgrades on the Tourist suit, but I find out that it does not allow me to carry more weight than what I was already wearing. I'm glad I found this out early, as my expectations of getting this armor in Garbage was my primary motivation for wanting to go there.
The other thing that was confusing was figuring out how to use the grenade launcher on my AKM-74S. I actually had to google it, and apparently the only way to access it, is to bring up the console wheel to switch to it. That is very clunky. I should be able to assign a key to it like all the other Stalker games.
Game Note: I've spent a lot of hours in Stalker 2, enjoying the action and exploration and being less concerned with the storyline. I've made all my money by repairing and selling used guns to the Traders. I had added a small Mod that allows all weapons to be repaired (that I pay for) so that I can sell them new, to get the most money. I could have easily just gifted myself a lot of money instead, but I chose to work hard for it, by killing, looting and transporting all the used guns.
The one thing I have been frustrated with in Stalker 2 has been the artifact hunting. With the changes to the anomalies, especially the bubble type that snap back too quickly, I have had an incredibly difficult time seeing or finding any artifacts. The few that I have found were out in the open. I have tried to use the Echo detector, and it is so crappy, I just gave up and reasoned I would try artifact hunting once I got a better detector. I did read an article finding out how much later in the game, the Player was given access to them.
I know there is a Hilka detector (the one I have never used) in Garbage possibly or can be bought in Rostok. However, I'm not done in the Cordon and I really wanted to try it. It's frustrating to see Hamster selling all four kinds on his shelf but none but the Echo to sell to me. Several Loners were flashing their Hilka detectors in Zalissya, but no one has any when they are killed. Where do they all go? You could get detectors off the dead in the other games and mods. Just frustrating.
I went to NexusMods and found one called "Traders Sell All". There were multiple versions with selling everything, and various selling everything but artifacts, unique armors, unique weapons and/or blueprints. I decided to try the one excluding artifacts, unique weapons and armors. I installed it and went to Hamster to see what he offered now. It was way more ammo types than I expected. There were many weapons and armors, but I was more interested in gun attachments for the weapons I currently used or own. That is the main thing I spend money on.
I bought a silencer for my Viper and Fora. A larger magazine for the Fora. Various magazines for my AKM-74S, including a grenade launcher. Even though I could have bought a lot better armor, I was only interested in the Tourist Suit, since I knew one was awaiting me in a Journalist's stash in Garbage. The main thing I wanted was to carry more weight. So, I bought it to see how it could be upgraded. The only weapon I bought was a better shotgun. I just wanted small upgrades, and I was not interested in trying to level up with an Exo, Gauss Gun or to jump ahead far beyond what I would most likely find next.
So that is what I do, take the items to Lens to see what he can upgrade. I find out Lens cannot upgrade the armor or shotgun. Let me go ahead and say that I was disappointed that all Traders had this same inventory, like the medic and bartender in Zalissya. I later decide to remove the entire Mod for this reason, after meeting a Dutyer in the field and he had the same huge inventory to sell. That's not the way I expected it to work. However, this video and the next, going to the Cordon, are about these new items. I'm not trying to cheat my way beyond what would be coming to me in Garbage, I just mainly wanted to do some artifact hunting with something better than the Echo. So, a lot of time is spent trying out the new gun attachments and seeing what Lens can and cannot do.
