ABOUT CARPOOL:
Carpool is an online show hosted by Robert Llewellyn (Red Dwarf, Scrapheap Challenge, Fully Charged), who gives a wide variety of passengers a lift in a hybrid or electric car and they talk. It's as simple as that. Previous guests include Stephen Fry, David Mitchell, Charlieissocoolike and Jim Jeffries.

I had the pleasure of meeting Danny and having a decent long chat at a Craig Charles DJ gig in Melbourne Australia a year or 2 ago; he was one of the nicest people I have ever met; famous or not!
I think this has to be one of the best non-scripted interview shows ever! It's nice to see people actually talking instead of reading off pre-written questions! Am slowly working my way through all the shows I can find on good ol' youtube! xx

Shame this wasn't a longer episode Danny comes across as a very interesting guy who's had a very diverse career.
Yeah, this was my favorite of all of the Dwarfer interviews (although, they were all quite entertaining). I thought the combo of these dudes would be the most mellow, but it felt like the most proper conversation, if you get me.
@jamesfromwimbledon Thank you for that advice although I'm not sure I agree with you. Carpool was never meant to be an interview as such, more the recording of a conversation. Danny and I have known each other for many years so you might be right, I may have been too relaxed in his company, this was also one of the very first shows I recorded so hopefully I've improved.
@babalonkie Glad you found it. You are right, Carpool needs all the publicity it can get, but the shows originally went out on iTunes where the show was in the top ten video podcasts for over a year, with over 4 million downloads, so there is a substantial audience. I've recorded over 100 shows now, Danny's was one of the very early ones. A whole new load will start appearing on Jan 7th

I love these guys, not just because of Red Dwarf, but they're both so likeable.

I don't mind the relaxed feel at all. I love the commentaries on the Red Dwarf dvds, and how friendly the cast is with each other, so it was great to see this, and the others with the other cast members.
I really enjoy these a lot, it's great getting a glimpse of what people are really like in a casual chat.
I only found this show today and I've already watched like 6 episodes back to back - all the red dwarf crew, ofcourse.
Good Lord, Danny is just amazing. Love that guy!

This is one of my favorites, I love how he just wanders off.
My 18 year old son came across this site yesterday and advised me to look it up...a little Valentines Day adventure...Needless to say I love it ! It can be easy to forget that some of our favorite "Characters" are people :) (Gotta love that Cat and Robot !!!) Ordinary every day people that are just as interesting as friends having a conversation as they are characters on screen...Thanks for the ride Boys !

I only found this because I was having Red Dwarf withdrawals. Can't believe I never stumbled across this Carpool thing before! SO many awesome carpool episodes and here's me, a major fan of Kryten, a RUclips addict, but never stumbling across this excellence in all these years. What a pleasure it is to have it now :)

Danny is just too gorgeous....Love him as Cat, nice to hear his true, beautiful accent and a bit about his pre-Dwarf show biz history, knew he was a professional dancer, but love hearing the details. BTW, Cat is where I derived my You Tube name from. :-) From one fellow moggie to another. In my heart and soul I am a feline..

I love the informal feel to Carpool. SO much better than most of the talk shows on TV where everything feels so damn forced. This feels like driving around with my mates, laughing and reminiscing. The inherent Red Dwarf connection just makes it even better.
i love red dwarf, and dannys story about growing up in a kinda rough neighborhood an a less tolerant era made me realize, yeah im more or less alone in my struggles fir life, but you know what ! i'm doing good, and not just giving up or giving in, im providing for my family and gf, and im doing fine, thanks red dwarf posse :)

I love this show
used to go to Notting Hill Adventure Playground myself Mr John-Jules as I lived in Lionel House growing up. I also went to school (St. Marys) with your niece. It's a shame that the whole area around the playground is being torn down as my mum and dad have lived there for over 30 yrs. even though I have moved away to Hertfordshire, I will be devastated when the area is gone. a true community will be lost when people you have known a lifetime go their separate ways.
Like Babalonkie, I did not know about this excellent series until today when I viewed the Fully Charged segment with Doug Naylor (another web series I wasn't familiar with until io9 headlined the interview). I've watched this one and the other with Chris Barrie so far, and really like the concept and openess of the interviews. My only complaint, Robert, is that you seriously need to upgrade the cameras to HD quality ones with excellent sound, but you might have done this with newer shows.

@MrWeekendoff I have sorted it out. A new series of Carpool starts on Dave in the UK on November 3rd, 20 new passengers, all of which will be released in their full length form on the internet at a later date. They will be on RUclips, llewtube, carpool.tv and iTunes.
@carpoolUK Great to see you retort your comments from viewers. I will admit, most of my viewing is now through youtube and OD channels online, Proving to be a bit of a problem for Tv shows on the box. I suppose this day and age where TV is slowly being replaced by the internet, going through iTunes was a good move. Also why i missed it, i have only been using itunes since the revolutionary iPhone 3 months ago, but iTunes is a garentied trend and many more will follow. Keep up the good work.

Excellent. I'm embarrassed to say I only know Danny John Jules through Red Dwarf, so I thought he was American. His voice is completely different than I imagined. That lawsuit thing (I just googled) really did seem frivolous.

I hope that there will be some more Red Dwarf one day, I think if it comes back
for another 6 episode series then I think a return to the format of Series 6 would
be good, basically the four of you trapped on Star Bug again, there are so many
more stories to tell & ideas which could be explored, other than that a stage show
could also be very good, I know Craig & Chris have been keen on this in the past.

Great idea for a show :D!. I wish the microphones would be farther from your mouths, though. Would be easier to hear what you guys were saying, and would be better sound :).

well well. i only just stumbled accross this now. its a great idea, keep it up rob! you need to get even more big names, its an interesting thing to watch. the only thing i wish was in these great little vids was a little bit of talking politics. i know its risque, but we need a bit of that especially these days. i just wana know what these folks think about the way the country is ran, nay the world. :)

All these years i thought Danny was American! I'm sure i saw him on 'My Wife and Kids' a few months back only to watch this and find out he's a geezer! Haha. Great show though man, keep up the good work and have a good year.
