You're not kidding about this being a major ear worm. I binged the show in a couple of days and now I keep hearing this tune when I wake up in the morning and at random throughout the day. It's so good and catchy.
Very nice. I too am obsessed with this song. It’s got a formula which I can’t describe but recognize when I hear it. Maybe some Gershwin, maybe some Satie?
I love this. what is your opinion on the similarity to the opening theme for Jessica Jones? I haven't seen anyone mention it so I wonder if I'm the only one who hears it.
The TV series was interesting although I feel the idea is not well exploited. The music theme, however, is just plain amazing! My hat off to the composer!
@@oliverram3243 Everything we see in the TV series revolves around the human psyche, not the practical aspects. i.e. The first use I would see of the severance system would be for military or government secrets, not to provide jobs to people who want to escape from their unpleasant reality. Only towards the end of the series do we really know these 4 people are in fact testing a product, not doing a meaningful job that must be kept secret.
@Liyang It's not just Sci-Fi that's missing. There are dozens of practical, tangible aspects that have been just truncated to focus entirely on shallow human aspects. That's the fault with some shows. This is not a representation of what would happen if a technology like that existed. This is a representation of what would happen according to shallow and very emotional people with little to no consideration for a flurry of practical aspects.
Is the producer of this opening theme music and the accompanying images the same as the creator of the opening theme for Westworld? They are very similar.
I believe they're all different people - I know the music for Westworld is en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramin_Djawadi - same guy who composed Game of Thrones - and the visuals for Severance were by an Instagram artist who Ben Stiller tracked down - www.extraweg.com. I hope that sort of answers the question!

glad it's not just me!
… same here. I may have to seek medical help.
So spooky and off-putting and amazing and catchy
it is quite the crazy piece of music isn't it, still totally lodged in my head after 2 months
love seeing the theme played on piano! wonderful job
I caught this earworm right after watching the first episode!
Great Song 👍 Great Performance 👍 Keep it up, I hope to hear more from you soon 👍
I found this while searching for the Severance theme. Very well done!!!!!!

Sooooo good. I could visualize the opening sequence.
Love this, so good!

very Satie for me! sorry it took so long to find your kind reply

I love this so much.
This is incredible. Perfect.

very much the same vibe and atmosphere - can't believe it took me this long to look up the JJ theme so I could reply
if the sheet could be shared, my ear worm would be completely pulled out😅
oh if only I had the sheet music I would help, but I played it without! Good luck with the ear worm!!
Amazing. Can you share the music sheet you are playing? I am a noob trying to learn piano.
I'd love to, but I don't read sheet music. Sorry, this is learned by ear - which is why it is not note perfect.
@@danjobar Amazing job decompiling / reconstructing the note sequence there. I wouldn't have guessed.
Nice
your outie has lot of fans
I'll ask the company for a trophy inscribed with this.
Nice channel!!!
Thank you! Fortunately I gave it a spring clean just before you found it
Do you know which scale is used? For the right hand I don't have any clue...
It's in C, though it is such an odd melody it is hard to tell

what?
@@oliverram3243 who ? why ?
Idea is not well exploited? Meaning?

The composer's name is Theodore Shapiro. He did the Wellness music in the series too
do you have the sheet music?
I'm afraid I don't , I played it without as I'm not very good with sheet music - so sorry I can't help
Is this a mix of another song cause I recognise it?
only the theme from the show, nothing else!
👏🏼
I thought this would be a dead can dance cover
now that's a good idea, also a lot easier to play on the piano
Omfg
!!!!!!!
