It is a great video and makes sense to me (I have been using Synapse 19 as my EDC since 2016, and surprised to see no wear even though I often really throw it on the floor).
Great review! I love my Synapse 25. I need to pick up one of those Tumi pouches. What a perfect fit. I currently have a TB Snake Charmer in my bottom pocket, but I don't quite love it. Thanks for the video!
I have looked at the snake charmer a few times, but have never pulled the trigger. The Tumi does happen to fit well and still leave room for a pouch or two and a small travel umbrella. Thanks for watching and commenting!!
Really like the review. I’ve had mine for a while but only use it for one bag travel. The bottom pouch I use a packing cube that holds 5 shirts. The Nintendo switch is nice for the middle compartment for me if I don’t carry my water bottle.
Thanks Jake. I will certainly do a video if I pick one up. I will say I most look forward to the luggage passthrough. Not having one is a real pain honestly when transiting airports weekly and it's not always convenient to wear the backpack (like if in a suit), which I realize sounds kind of silly. I appreciate you watching and commenting!
Excellent review after extensive use. I have the same bag, and tried to use it for travel but felt it was too small for a 3 to 4 day trip. Would love to see how you’d pack this for travel including packing cubes and a Dopp kit. Great video!!
I think it is likely too small for 4 days plus unless you are very minimal. I think for 3 days I could do 1 or 2 packing cubes, dopp kit, and some media (iPad, etc.) if I was wearing 1 pair of shoes. I find that shoes really blow up your bag options sometimes and can be a limiting factor. I've used it for overnight trips for work several times with no problem so without a laptop, I feel comfortable that I could make it work for 2-3 days. Thanks for watching!
FWIW, I used this same bag as my one bag for a 10-day trip to Sweden and the Netherlands. In December. It was perfect, at least for. Obviously you have to be strategic about packing, but I had no issues.
I’ve had my Synapse 25 since around this time last year and have been to Greece 🇬🇷 Turkey 🇹🇷 Colorado 🇺🇸 and Florida 🇺🇸 all using this as my main bag. It has held up very nicely, it’s just the right size. I love all the compartments/organization and overall just a good use of space. Hopefully many more trips to come with my Tom Bihn!
I never liked the look of this bag but looking at all the organization it offers it is growing on me and on the edge to get the synik 30. But my usage is going to be more daily carry and not travel. I would carry 15 inch laptop, 12.9 iPad Pro and then snacks, cables, dongles etc. and a down jacket. Do you think it would be too big for EDC ? Most reviewers show packing cubes being packed for travel, which made me think maybe its way to big.
Ya, I agree top-to-bottom. I don't love the look and it is too big for EDC imo unless you carry everything and don't mind a super heavy bag. I imagine a laptop, iPad, and jacket would fit comfortably in the Synik 22 (or Synapse 19) but haven't researched myself. The Synapse 25 also suffers when it's not packed full as it has no structure. The frame in the Synik should help with that. I'd stay on the smaller side if I bought a new bag for EDC, as I use a Tristar or Peak duffel for one bag travel.
@@ExploreInformed thanks. Synik 19 and 22 don’t fit a 15 inch so my only option is either synapse 25 or Synik 30. I ordered a 30 as it comes with frame sheet and laptop compartment.
Yes, they probably are noisy but I wouldn't necessarily want to swap out something smaller or quieter given what else you might sacrifice. Thanks for watching!!
This reply is kinda late but I have the bag and I like to be stealthy so I snapped off the metal with cutters and only use the provided zipper ties instead :)
Nice review, my only recommendation going forward is to reduce/eliminate the multiple repetitions, I heard you repeat yourself multiple times in the video
I've used my S19 daily since March 2016. Looks brand new, no reason to replace it.
That sounds about right! Thanks for watching and commenting!

Good to hear. Tom Bihn products really hold up well given what I've experienced myself, and also seen and heard. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Two years of heavy usage and no signs of wear and tear? That alone is impressive 👍🏾
Agree Charles. Thanks for watching and commenting!

appreciate the thoroughness of the review, would be curious to see your thoughts on the synik if you do upgrade.

I wish they made the Synik in a 25L size though. The 30 is just too big and the 22 too small.
Ya, 22 vs 30 is a big gap. I agree on that. I don’t necessarily want the 22 b/c of how it might look on me, but 30L is too big for my EDC.
26 is coming!

Would you consider the Synik 22 or 30?
is there a budget version of a backpack that's nearly as good as this? tom bihn is so damn expensive wow
Get Yeti for No leak performance.
Very $$$ but agree on quality
