One concern with the sideline coaching is how it will work for a player at the opposite end of the court from their box. Will their coach have to make hand signals like baseball? Will they just yell across the court? I would think that would be very disruptive to the other player. There needs to be some basic rules in place to make it even somewhat useable. Hopefully they have thought it through more than I am aware of.

@@5KTennis 7. It's not the end of the world to me because I believe it happens to a minor degree already. It could be entertaining, but I really don't need any extra entertainment to keep me interested in tennis. Heck, my mother and I both wished we had gone to Chicago last year for the Laver Cup instead of the US Open which was a hot mess, literally. He actually wrote in favor of the Laver Cup as ATP President and I think Laver Cup matches might start to count in the official ATP h2h. NBA fans don't discredit All Star Weekend so I don't know why Tennis fans would discredit the Laver Cup which has brought excitement to the game. I will never understand that. In terms of scheduling, if people really wanted more time on grass, then shorten the long clay season. Take 1 clay masters off the schedule and put one on grass...simple but they won't do it. In terms of coaching, apparently according to most coaches, they all give signals from the stands. Look at Toni Nadal's comments on the subject. Since the Serena fiasco, I think the US Open just doesn't want it to be penalty but I agree with you both, I am against sideline/on court coaching. I hate it when I see it on the WTA and I would loathe it on the men's tour. They keep trying to baby proof the sport and then wonder why no male under 30 has won a Grand Slam.
