Oh my god, you were literally speaking my mind. I mean whenever i watch any lesbian scene or anything i get so anxious and i go like why is this happening, like i should be ashamed of myself. Anyway great channel great content India needs you🌟✨
this is so true. it took me almost 6 years to come to terms with the fact i was lesbian even though i knew i liked girls because of how we're portrayed as predat0ry or overly-s*xualised in media (thanks for that, male gaze and patriarchy). i went through all the labels-bi, pan, ace; even briefly thought i was a trans man just because i didn't want to be a lesbian. i don't know how many years it will take to deconstruct the negative connotation of this word but i hope we get there someday and good representation will help a lot in fixing that.
The first time I heard the word Lesbian was in Dear Zindagi. Which was actually quite positive coz alia says "there aren't more gays in bollywood industry, there's just more acceptance" , it also had a gay character where he trys to cope up with his situation. And it was before I even realized that I was gay, I knew that there are people who support them and its not a bad thing to be a lesbian.
The only queer content I like that happens to be Indian is "The other love story " I can die to see the second season, It is the best web series I have ever watched
WOW! I am a lesbian and I too go outside on the road and look at everyone and wonder if they're queer... I really enjoy doing it... So much fun! I don't know if I've found anyone I can relate to at this level before. Love your humor. Salute!
If you haven't you have to watch Geeli Pucchi. It's a short film, part of a Netflix anthology called Ajeeb Daastaans. The other shorts are good too, but Geeli Puchhi is just so gay and so nuanced and amazing. It's not fully romance, but the main characters are lesbians, who come from different caste background which results in tensions arising between them. It's intersectional and complex and I want everyone to see it. (I realize that it'll be awkward if you have already seen it but I can't stop gushing about it)
So glad I found your channel! Couldn't thank you enough for being the lesbian representation my baby gay heart was looking for. More power to you girl!😤🌈
hahahh i am a 15 year old lesbian and i kid you NOT i know like a tonne of lesbians like so many to the point ik like only a few straight girls lol mera desh badal rha hai 🌈
When I was 12 years old I have a cursh on a girl and I was thought if I was a boy I might have chance at that I don't know it and gay is some abuse word😭 but when I first time watched a lesbian love story I felt so represented myself and watch Neverland web series on RUclips it's so good 😌
It's bengali.. There's a bengali web series called "breakup stories", and the second episode is about homosexuality.. And it's really enough good.. It will be available on hoichoi And next one, again bengali named " Finally vlobasa" , there's a little about it , but it is also great, not creepy.. It will be available on prime. Others are already in comment box, so i don't mention.
There are some books that are indian and gay, most are non fiction tho (Ruth Vanita books). Babyji by Abha Dawesar (I haven't read it) is fiction, Kari by Amruta Patil is a graphic novel (this one I have and it's really good). There's The Devourers by Indra Das and it has gay werewolves (reading it currently, also if you decide to pick up, check trigger warnings first, because it's heavy), Cobalt Blue by Sachin Kundalkar (I have read, gay rep, it was good, going to be adapted as a movie for netflix, probably will come out late 2021, early 2022). There's Funny Boy, which is technically a Srilankan book, about the civil war and Tamil genocide (has a gay mc and is relatable to the Indian experience as well I would say). There are some Pakistani gay books as well that I intend to get to but haven't yet. (I read a lot)(hides face in antisocial embarrassment).
I understand that feeling... All videos are just full of perverted or soft porn thumbnails. It makes the whole thing disgusting. Why do people think that gay relationship is all about smoking, drinking and sex between two same gender persons???🙄🙄
Neverland is also one of the awesome love story based on indian lesbian couple 🥰🥰 , do check it out if u haven't 😌 N lot's of love n support ❤🏳🌈 Keep on making such awesome video🏳🌈🏳🌈🏳🌈
NOOOOOOO you didn't have to hurt me AGAIN with Lexa😭🤧 Also, in my opinion, The Married Woman series was so so soo much better than the other Indian queer content (except the fact that one was bi and cheating on her husband). And Monica Dogra's role was genuine as she identifies as pansexual. This video made me happy 😁❤
Your content is very necessary for our society but I would like to make a suggestion (if I may), give a try in Hindi so that more people connect to your content.
7:32... This this.... This... A thousand times this... (From male gay perspective) For me, when I see gay representation... I start to see it through the perspective of people I seek validation from... Thinking about what they'll feel if they'll watch this... And it ruins the vibes... It completely does...
Mam your video is awesome,👌👌..it's very true thing you represent in video that about LGBT ...But mam if this video in Hindi or some word is in Hindi then people are not good in English like me they are more connected with you...plz mam do this
Ammm..... So theres one '' yuri manhua '' (don't think too much its just a Japanese - Korean word) title is ''Getting to know Grace'' ... If u wanna try... Try it... I like that story or plot... Hope u will too.... (Just a suggestion of course)
I googled "Indian sapphic" and here i am, hellllloooo yay thanks for the queer representation FROM INDIA because so many indian queers are abroad, and while I love them, I don't quite know how to relate. also you cutes
You're saying my mind out loud..I know I feel cringed hearing lesbian I think it's internalize homophobia, so that's also being not confident as myself! Also yeah people not from arts and queer and Indian, rare representation on social media also.. Salute to you 😊
good indian lesbian content IS hard to find. here's some indian and other non-white reco's. Sancharram (Malayalam, 2004), Unfreedom (2014). Margarita with a Straw (2014), Rafiki (Kenya, 2018), The handmaiden (s. korean, 2016).
Im talking as a foreigner and so ignorant about the reality in India, for now. But Im insterested since I will live there for a while. India has a lot of queer "activists" but no much queer activism? I mean, queer activism is not only put ourselves out and scream for our rights, but also engage people into what matters to our community. The key is the organization-it is open doors to queer people, something we call as social entrepreneurship. That happened here in the other side of the world, where ppl are getting so used to see us that is not even shocking anymore (neither for ourselves). Ofcourse, the sexualization is still a problem (damn patriarcal society), we are more "liberal" and sex is a commodit. But, not losing the point, what helps any minority to thrive is gather people online and offline (offline nowadays is the task). It can be simple as open a queer bar where you give jobs to queer ppl. A space to gather people in meetings and other events, where you can explore artistic and fun ways to provoke debates around our community, where those people can create a network that might end up in the ideal coming real. "Pink money" - it will be another problem but in this stage can also be a solution. So, if the answer for the first question is "yes", changing this might change the dynamic. And, you are already doing a great job, keep doing it. By the way, if you know some lesbian/queer place I can visit in Delhi, tell me. I dont want keep being an ignorant foreigner about india's queer community.
India is a different society with completely different ideologies and social stratas than most of the western world :) There is a lot of queer activism. But it takes a long time to achieve societal acceptance and it can be very hard for queer folks to come out in support of that activism because it comes at the cost of their safety. I don't know much about Delhi but i wish you a wonderful trip

the only representation we have focuses on the male gaze- like bruh come on-
exactly! Heterosexual men could not be more irrelevant to wlw content and yet most of it is catered towards them
