I think, contrary to what you assume about the silver sword at 12:56, there is not one creature in Valheim that takes half spirit dmg. - Everything is either alive and thus fully immune, resulting in spirit dmg doing nothing at all... - or an undead taking either normal spirit dmg (not half) ... - or belonging to the few undead exeptions that are weak to spirit dmg and thus take 1.5x spirit dmg. I think that are only Ghosts, Wraiths, Valkyries and all Charred including Lord Reto. Bats are also a weird exception, being weak to spirit. But that does not matter, because they are one-hit with most weapons, anyways. - Mistlands has not one enemy, taking spirit dmg and Fulings are the main threat in plains. So I would argue that upgrading to a blackmetal weapon to takle plains and Mistlands, makes a lot of sense. Although the silver sword is good to fight growth and fully upgraded arguably the best pre mistlands weapon to fight Yagluth. Also the fact, that blackmetal is quite easy to farm and not needed for armor, is an additional reason to go for a blackmetal weapon. I ususally have so much of it, that I use it for blackmetal chests. Taming: I would say, from a time efficiency standpoint, boars, wolves, chicken and lox are not worth taming, since in the time it takes to tame them, you can progress so far, that they become useless. So from that standpoint, currently the only creature worth taming, are the Askvin, because their meat is useful for the best existing foods and especially the 2-Star ones are very powerful mounts. But obviously taming anything can be fun in itself, or add flavor to a nice base or a mashed potatoes meal.
Always appreciate your comments! I'll have to do more maths on the sword comparison!! But the porcupine is definitely not worth it except for the plains, I think.
@@WafflesGamesProbably Since only blunt, slash, pierce and lightning dmg (not frost dmg) contribute to staggering enemies, Porcupine is much better than Frostner at staggering enemies, and also better than the iron mace. Arguably the stagger can be better than a frost slowdown against single enemies. However against groups, I find the frost slowdown of Frostner more useful. And even against single Fulings I initially prefer the slowdown, because they have that annoying habit of running in circles. However I sometimes switch to Porcupine, to finish them off, since it does more dmg and makes it easier to stunlock them. A high club skill and fully upgraded Porcupine changes that a bit, because that makes staggering more likely, while the frost slowdown triggers always and only increases in duration with higher frost dmg. So besides of dmg itself, the stagger mechanic benefits more from higher applicable dmg values, because it does not trigger at all when they are too low. Since Lox are resistant to Frost, Blunt and Slash, but not Pierce, Porcupine with its pierce, is also decent against them. Because I like to stick with one melee skill, to get it as high as possible, spears and atgeirs are no option, if I choose clubs as my melee skill. If I specialize in clubs, I usually carry Frostner and Porcupine and end up using Porcupine exclusively, when I run around or build in Plains, Black Forest or Mountains, and get jumped. In Swamp, Frostner is king. In Plains, I use both, Frostner more in the beginning and Porcupine more later and against Lox. Porcupine is also the best pre Mistlands weapon against Golems, for hitting them in their nonexisting jewels, to stagger them Also there is no 1H-Mistlands Club/Mace, which is an additional reason to make porcupine, when choosing clubs as main weapon skill.
Me neither, was mounting shelves yesterday. It wasn’t going as I planned so I was “frickinbatsing” to myself, my wife came looking at me and asked if I hurt my head. Yeah, the day I was born!
@WafflesGamesProbably every time you say 'frick'by itself I remember the 90s or 00s Merlin movie with Sam Neill. Morgan LeFay's companion was named Frick and I can hear her yell his name lol
Every time you guys edge in on competence the chaos unleashes once again 🤣 I've had a bet with my wife for a while now that Glitchy won't finish that house before episode 80...getting mighty close to winning that bet!
Mountains and Plains are both too easy to get through. Mountains start difficult but once you make a wolf cloak and some armour every challenge just becomes routine, and the Plains almost throw resources at you. I hope the devs go back and add just a couple of new elements to both of these biomes at some point.
The cat in the background lol KITTY!

I'll be honest, I mostly tame wolves and Loxen because THEY ARE SO ADORABLE ❤

Man, you guys are just ripping through the biomes faster than Glitchy can build!
I love how "Frickin Bats" has become such a thing now
I can't get it out of my head!
