5:00 There are maybe some bloody massive owls that *might* eat a chicken, but even then probably little bantams. Chickens are pretty large birds, and owls usually aren't. There's a reason they mostly eat mice and rodents.
Foxes feel more comfortable around known situations; areas they are familiar with, routines they've seen before. Having a strange person immediately run out of the house when they got nearby, approach them (as close as feasible anyway), and flail around like a crazy person, probably did actually help dissuade the fox from coming back, at least for a while. 6:18 I HAVE FELT THIS EXACT FEELING. a couple months ago i went out to close up the chicken coop just past dusk. as i exited the front door, the chickens all started raising absolute hell and there was some loud thunking coming from the coop. a raccoon had gotten in and was DRAGGING one of the hens out. i sprinted out there and started SCREAMING at it, and it actually dropped the hen- it'd only had her by the tail, so she got out just fine with only some missing tail feathers. When I worked at a retirement home, there was an Italian lady named Anna. Now most people found her to be grumpy and hard to please. But I was patient, and took my time to remember what she liked and how she liked it (I was a food server, and this was during Covid when we had to bring the food to the individual rooms). I also learned a couple Italian words for food and drinks from her (I'd previously began the Italian course on Duolingo because in March of 2020 (this was now March to July of 2021) I had a trip to Italy planned (worst place to be during the pandemic at that time, the whole country got locked down while I was there)). Anyway, so one day, Anna is trying aggressively to get me to understand something. All she wanted was to give me a fig! She was so sweet, really, just misunderstood because she could really only speak Italian, and was clearly just lonely. I hope she's still alive and well. Edit: I never ate the fig, I struggle to try new foods sometimes, and from Fig Newton's, I knew I likely wasn't going to like it, plus I know about fig wasps... So yeah. When I did finally psych myself up enough to eat it, it was already beginning to rot. I felt bad, but it was still really sweet of her, like she clearly liked me 😊
About the fig wasps: if they stopped you from eating the fig, then chances are you don't actually know what fig wasps are after all. Misinformation about fig wasps is rampant. Look up "Adam Ragusea Fig Wasps" for a good video about the topic.
Oh no, am I understanding correctly that she was stuck in a nursing home in country where no one speaks her language? Thats a total nightmare :( Im really glad you showed her some compassion and tried to connect with her.

I spent time on a farm when I was in my 20s, and I can in fact confirm that "RARBABLARBABLABABLABABLABAR" is a valid fox removal technique. He now knows that area is under guard of some new, terrifying creature the likes of which Foxdom has never seen. You are now an urban legend among the foxes... the farm where they would always be able to sneak in for a quick chicken snack can now summon an otherworldly being and is officially off-limits.
One of my goals is to become a cryptid to some group or other. This dude managed it successfully and is now remembered in story. The story of how Brave Reginald went to gather soft silly food creatures one night and was attacked by a cryptid guarding the food creatures of this one place will be told by Italian foxes forever.
I started laughing hysterically at the "it's the fox." Moment, because even though I haven't been in that exact situation, I have a cat that has had a very upset stomach before. As some of you may know, the sound of your cat about to vomit in the middle of the night will unlock ultra-instinct within you for about 5 minutes. When you said there was the fence and you couldn't get to him and went "RABABLABLALBLA!" I laughed harder, and it sent me into a coughing fit. 😂

The drive to protect your animals is real One morning I went out to take care of my calf. It was dawn and I wasn’t wearing work shoes yet, just sandals and I saw one of my ducks by herself- that itself was weird and she was making a weird noise. I looked around and saw a coyote on top of my other duck so in sandals with no attack plan at all I sprint full on at the coyote. I am SO LUCKY the coyote ran anyway because if it didn’t I would’ve punched and kicked a wild coyote with no protection.
@@sinki3322 There's a HUGE difference between eating a random animal and eating your own. Foxes feel more comfortable around known situations; areas they are familiar with, routines they've seen before.

I felt bad, but it was still really sweet of her, like she clearly liked me 😊
Tl,dr: old Italian ladies like to give out figs, apparently.
About the fig wasps: if they stopped you from eating the fig, then chances are you don't actually know what fig wasps are after all.
Misinformation about fig wasps is rampant.
Look up "Adam Ragusea Fig Wasps" for a good video about the topic.

@@rainywolf4443 Please explain to me what’s the « Huge difference » between eating your own animal and another animal? Would you eat a random dog from a farm but not yours? Would there be a difference then between those two?
And yes, there is something very, very wrong with what humans are doing to animals right now. We are torturing and slaughtering billions of sentient and conscious beings yearly just for greed purposes. We have a lot of delicious vegan alternatives available anywhere now.
