Fun fact: Since Sans is the only one left to fight after mettaton, the knife and locket are more there for the story since Sans only has 1 hp, so having 99 attack is pointless. The locket is also pointless since sans does 1 damage, its just that his attacks ignore I-frames, doing a sort of poison type damage that, I think, is called karma. Strangely enough, the best equipment you could use would be the notebook and glasses, since the extra I-frame does affect the karma poison effect, making it tick down slower. Since you can't die till the karma is no longer on your health bar, this lets you tank a little bit of his attacks.
Well, not exactly, that's a mistake many people do, Sans doesn't necessarily have 1HP, in fact, we don't know how much HP he has exactly, we only know he has 1AT and 1DF (and DF isn't the same as HP, for example, Toriel has more HP than she has DF)
@@phantom9831 yeah, DF is just how much damage reduction there is, NOT how much health they have. Jerry, for example, doesn't have all that much health, but since you only do 8 damage to it (10 at max), it seems like his health is far more than it is
@@phantom9831 If we go by in-game data, Sans DOES have 1 hp, and it's not a case to be able to beat him in 1-hit, as Mettaton NEO has 30000 hp (but 9DF in lore, and -40000DF in-game), and Sans has 1DF anyways (and scripted to be 1-hittable anyways)
This game and this run made me question my existence, what I was doing, how I was going about living my life, and how I was interacting with myself and others. I realized I wasn't healthy and that I needed to be better to myself and to others. No lie. Thanks Chibi...
Congrats, you got the message! Undertale left such a deep impression on me when I was a budding teen, and to this day it still influences the way I interact with those around me and those around me. You could say it was my canon event lol.
Gotta love how chat completely misunderstands chara’s character and tells chibi that they were the bad guy all along, you can really tell they never actually played the game
I’m guessing that’s a big reason why Deltarune (specifically Chapter 2’s Weird Route) is explicitly exploring how the player is hijacking control of Kris and making them do things they don’t want to do and that we can make them influence others in negative ways. Cause the whole point of Chara is that we do something similar. Yes, Chara was a troubled child and maybe not a great person, but they’re still a child. They’re easily influenced, and are likely the way they are because they had abusive parents or something similar. So if we, the player, treat monsters, the people who cared for them, with kindness, then we teach them that power and cruelty isn’t everything. We teach them that being kind to others is worthwhile and, in fact, beneficial. But if we do the genocide route, we teach them that connections don’t matter. That all that matters is power. We reinforce their worldview and make it even worse. And the fact that it’s *their* determination that grows stronger is why they fight back if we tell them not to destroy the world. It’s why they take our soul and ruin the pacifist ending going forward if you take their deal. Because you taught them that’s the way to survive in the world. Anybody whose played this game and still disagrees lacks proper media literacy.
@@EmileeAria413 So many people seemingly forget Chara is still a child. And people treat them in a very black and white way, like they're either good or evil. But no other Undertale characters gets treated that way in Undertale. Flowey is a great example of someone who has done bad but isn't treated like he's purely evil by the game or people playing it. Also, Chara, like Flowey, is soulless. They no longer have their soul, they're just attached to the one we control. Chara is not a great person, it's very clear by the tapes and what Asriel tells us about them. But they're not evil. (for the record, I agree, just wanted to add some stuff.) Side note: What people thought was Chara taking control of Frisk (The moments where the character does something we can't control.) might not be. Because of Deltarune there's new information (since Kris does things without us controlling them at times) it could potentially be Frisk moving on their own. Just a little thought I've had.
@@naisagathefirstdestronmand8559 It honestly took me several years for me to fully "get" what Chara's deal is, but I don't think it's anyone's fault. The mechanics surrounding Chara's resurrection are entirely communicated through subtext, and their appearance at the end of Genocide is a big out-of-nowhere twist, so the confusion leads to a lot of misunderstandings that Toby is only just now starting to clear up.
Same way people interpret Chara is the same way they try to interpret William Afton. The characters can’t just be evil, it always has to be sympathetic, or this pseudo intellectual-touchy feely “we were the bad guys!!”™️. And they call you “media illiterate” (a phrase that should 100% be erased from the general public conscious) when you don’t agree to their emotional conclusions lol. Hell you see this JaruJaru, who’s 100% correct on the statement of “player theory” not being set in stone, or Matpat with his “Gregory is a Robot” Theory, both that have objective reasoning, but because “players don’t like it :(“ they complain on Twitter. Hell I believe they both talked about this phenomenon as well. These are the same folk that believe someone like GANONDORF in Wind Waker, “isn’t a truly bad guy”™️, despite being the literal incarnation of evil. They don’t want evil characters, they want characters they can tell their friends about. So im definitely not surprised Chat had no idea what Chara actually stood to represent, lol.
it was so funny when she checked Sans's stats, and them are technically not wrong. Sans can only deal 1 damage, but different from the others, his battle uses the KR (short for karma) system. basically, it wont let you have enough invencibility frames to take a single damage like other battles, it makes you take damage multiple times (you can realize that if you look closer ar your health which doesn't get lower instantly), and makes you lose your health constantly, like some kind of poison (this is known as DoT). also, he dodges all of your attacks because otherwise we would die with only one hit, since he has 1 HP and 1 DEF. anddddd that's one of the things that makes Sans' battle is so hard
I hope people told her that now she's done a GENOCIDE route that she can never get a TRUE PACIFIST ending ever again, unless she fully deletes the game and redownloads it

Remember in neutral and pacifist where Sans explains LOVE? That's literally what happens to Chara in Genocide. Since their SOUL is tied to Frisk's, but that's debatable whether Frisk is their own or is under the control of the Player/You, it means when you get higher LOVE it affects Chara too leading to Chara distancing themselves and get addicted to LOVE. TLDR; LOVE (Level of Violence) is just SOUL drugs
To add on to it, Chara directly tells you to stop if you do a second genocide run. So while she does distance herself, it's obvious she doesn't want to kill anyone. She's just being "guided" by the player.
To add on to it, Chara directly tells you to stop if you do a second genocide run. So while she does distance herself, it's obvious she doesn't want to kill anyone. She's just being "guided" by the player.
This game is a huge morality check, so I often want players to refrain from doing the genocide run, BUT TOBY JUST HAD TO PUT THE BEST TRACKS IN THE GENOCIDE ROUTE!
The horror stories you could make out of Chibi's playthrough "before monsters would start to disappear, there would be a low growling like a wild animal" so on and so forth even though shes just "having fun to see a cool new ending"
"I have waited all the rest of my life for this moment were big head chibidookie would fight the all mighty one sans with all his glory I have been blessed today and forever for now i can lie in peice for my eternal slumber is calling for being faster than light you always live in the shadows" -sun tzu
On chibi's first run, sans said that the more LOVE you gained, the more distanced you'll become, and the more distanced you are, the easier it'll be for you to hurt other people. Notice how chibi didn't quite like the genocide route at the start, and I bet chibi at least got goosebumps in the first "But nobody came." encounter. However, the more the genocide route went on, the less chibi cared about killing others and even joked about it sometimes... Sans couldn't be more right at the end.
Sans is supposedly able to recall past timelines where you've reset the game just by the fact that he can put two and two together about how many times you died against him. There is also an easter egg sidequest where you can subtlely prove you are a time traveler to him in the judgement hall outside of the genocide run. In that instance he asks you a series of questions to ask another version of himself and then he'll get the message. He'll also give you the key to his room where he trolls you but you also find a key to the secret basement he and Papyrus have behind their house which has an odd device in it. So many mysteries that remain unanswered. There is also a secret character in the code that has some significance to the lore. His name is WD Gaster. It's a long story but he is supposedly the one that created the core. But one day he fell into his invention and was scattered across time and space. You can even find a hidden door in waterfall sometimes with a mystery man that vanishes when you try to talk to him. It's speculated that being is Gaster. There are other grayed out characters that have a rare chance of appearing that recount details about Gaster and they are labeled Gaster followers. By the way the skull thing Sans uses in his fight are called Gaster Blasters. So the two characters have some sort of connection. It's apparent because he's the only other character named after some sort of font. And in the true lab there is one entry missing which has some of his lab notes written down in wingdings (Entry 17). Also if you type his name in the character creation then the game crashes. This is also true in DeltaRune. People write off his character but clearly there is still significance behind the character.
He doesn't recall the past timelines, he just have a glimpse of them and is clever enough to guess about the player's face and actions because he knows the timelines exists, but can't recall them, for him, it's as much as other monster, only a vague impression of Déjà-vu
my interpretaiton is Chara/Jim/whatever you pick is exactly as evil as you personally beleive. we do know that even outside the genocide run they have a deep hatred of humans specifically and manipualted asriel for the purpose of leaving the udnerground and using their combined power to kill people. Exactly how far their hatred goes, why they ahte humans, why they wanted tokill people, and whether they cared anything at all for the monsters that adopted them is up to your interpretation. but in the genocide route they're a dark, DARK take on self insert characters in JRPGs. No backstory, no real reason to do anything, jsut blindly going forth killing monster after monster in search for that sweet, sweet level up.
the skellington brothers not dying like the rest of the monsters makes me wonder if they were humans once too i almost wonder if the machine in alphys basement was their attempt to extract human souls without killing them
I can't believe it's 2024 and people are still not getting this detail right. So, Toby Fox said that you are supposed to use your name for the game. And there's a twofold reason for this. First, for the neutral/good ending. And second, for the "No Mercy" as he prefers to call it, route. The reason should be clear, regardless of what choices you make, the owness on what's going on, is on *YOU.* None of this would be happening, if *YOU* didn't decide to make these choices. That is the intended message of this route. Otherwise, great content!
Always a treat to watch you play these games Chibi! Though I can't help myself to say this, you are generally supposed to play pacifist run before genocide, cause there are references to pacifist throughout genocide. Not a big deal though, just happy you enjoy the game
Yo I actually have never seen you before until today and I just wanna say as a die hard undertale fan and au fan I'm so glad to see the game isn't dead yet.
My theory about chara being there is that, when you fell, she got into you, and she was the narrator of the story. You the player who was frisk, moving, doing decisions, interacts with the world etc and chara, the one who tells whats happening or reads things after your actions (When you see yourself in the mirror, you dont say, "its me" it says "Its you" + a lot of other moments were its imposible that the character would know that) Frisk is hollow and inexpresive, because that character is YOU, and her expresion/emotions/thoughts are yours, but Chara is her own character. In this run Genocide , you throw away all of her ideals and you taugh her that "everything in sight has to be killed/is the reason thats why she revived/thats how things needs to be done/thats how playing is done" So, when eveyone was dead, the only one standing was yourself and because the player cant "end" himself the narrator/chara did it for you because "thats how it works" everything has to die. In the pacifist route/neutral she followed your steps and did the same as you did because you taugh her that and she even did you jokes sometimes, the artifact and the dog and moments that are like strange and she pushes you foward when you are weak, the closer you are to the end of the run the stronger is her influence with your ideals. So is not that chara is bad or evil, its only that you taugh her that is how the "game" works and is doing it with yourself or without you and knowing everything in the undertale universe has a reason to exist, The narrator of the story will always be more powerful than the player himself in some ways, the only reason she shows herself at the end of the genocide its because you refused to follow "Her script" because you became a menace so she end it but in the Pacifist/neutral, she was with you and your feelings. Plus, at the end, she needing your SOUL is even better for this theory, in the void even if it is a narrator dont have the power to exist without you and its an own character, Chara, so it wants to be alive and have power. Then Chara extorts you so that in exchange for restarting the world and giving you another run "let's remember that in the game you only move the character and make choices but she is the one that ends that tells whats happening as a result of your actions" you give her your soul, which is equivalent to losing the privilege of choosing or the power of influencing decisions, what you want will no longer happen, the "narrator" in this case Chara, will decide that for you. It will give you a certain freedom, but, like what happened to Flowey when you arrived in the underworld, it lost the ability to influence the world, so in a way, until the end of the game she lets you do what you want , in somewhat you swap places with Chara, you being the narrator of her actions, seeing what she is doing without being able to do anything . I dont know if someone thought about this, but after many years of trying to know what really happened at the end i had this idea and i wanted to share it with you all :D

When he knows he's gonna fight you, & not play by "the rules", then of course you're gonna be pissed should things not go your way. So when you approach him with a face that says you've been personally offended, he has reason to suspect that "he's pretty good at his job then."
Sans knows about the existence of timeliness, & is *_VERY_* perceptive. That's all.
@@CaptainCFalcon not only that but I get the feeling that he actively scripts out things to say in different scenarios based on what he observes about what we've experienced with him prior (for instance, the whole sequence to get his room key is one elaborate, multi-timeline prank that is coherent throughout)
@@--CHARLIE-- exactly. Man had the shower conversations LOCKED & LOADED.
@@CaptainCFalcon No one knows how much Sans remembers of the resets but we know he DOES remember something from them. He wouldn't know the exact number of times he's killed you or to be wary of Flowey if he was just going off of data. But Sans is smart, if he does remember a lot and then is honest about it, that would just give both Flowey and the Player more reasons to keep resetting since that would be "new content" to explore. Pretending he's just a lazy jokester who doesn't remember resets was a clever strategy. Flowey got bored of resetting once he'd "explored all the dialogue" after all.

I would do burnt pan and glasses for the extra healing, but to each their own
Well, not exactly, that's a mistake many people do, Sans doesn't necessarily have 1HP, in fact, we don't know how much HP he has exactly, we only know he has 1AT and 1DF (and DF isn't the same as HP, for example, Toriel has more HP than she has DF)
@@mariotheundying Yes, but as you said, in game DATA, not in game lore, as always, those are two separate things

Congrats, you got the message! Undertale left such a deep impression on me when I was a budding teen, and to this day it still influences the way I interact with those around me and those around me. You could say it was my canon event lol.
Honestly, I should've seen Chibi becoming a Sans Fangirl coming
6:51 Never would i have thought Chibi would be this wholsome and inspirational... thanks Chibi
I find it hilariously ironic how Chibi talks about how important it is to be alive on the route where she murders everything that lives
Ah yes. Genocide. Truly a staple of Chibi. But this time, it's not chat that's the target.
(for the record, I agree, just wanted to add some stuff.)
Side note: What people thought was Chara taking control of Frisk (The moments where the character does something we can't control.) might not be. Because of Deltarune there's new information (since Kris does things without us controlling them at times) it could potentially be Frisk moving on their own. Just a little thought I've had.
Honestly I feel like even most people who play the game don't even remotely understand the character either.
Turns out, Sans was just another one shot

it was so funny when she checked Sans's stats, and them are technically not wrong.
1 def, yes. 1 hp, doubtible.

The horror stories you could make out of Chibi's playthrough "before monsters would start to disappear, there would be a low growling like a wild animal" so on and so forth even though shes just "having fun to see a cool new ending"
It's strange that in all the times I've seen this slaughter, not one of these people have actually thought on what Sans said to them

Chibi - -looks at soap- "What is that? What is that???"

He doesn't recall the past timelines, he just have a glimpse of them and is clever enough to guess about the player's face and actions because he knows the timelines exists, but can't recall them, for him, it's as much as other monster, only a vague impression of Déjà-vu
sanest sans undertale fan
my interpretaiton is Chara/Jim/whatever you pick is exactly as evil as you personally beleive. we do know that even outside the genocide run they have a deep hatred of humans specifically and manipualted asriel for the purpose of leaving the udnerground and using their combined power to kill people.

Y'know, I've never imagined Flowey with a southern accent, but now that I've heard it, it does kind of fit.

I can't believe it's 2024 and people are still not getting this detail right.
So, Toby Fox said that you are supposed to use your name for the game.
And there's a twofold reason for this.
First, for the neutral/good ending.
And second, for the "No Mercy" as he prefers to call it, route.
The reason should be clear, regardless of what choices you make, the owness on what's going on, is on *YOU.*
None of this would be happening, if *YOU* didn't decide to make these choices.
That is the intended message of this route.
Otherwise, great content!

My theory about chara being there is that, when you fell, she got into you, and she was the narrator of the story.
You the player who was frisk, moving, doing decisions, interacts with the world etc and chara, the one who tells whats happening or reads things after your actions (When you see yourself in the mirror, you dont say, "its me" it says "Its you" + a lot of other moments were its imposible that the character would know that)
Frisk is hollow and inexpresive, because that character is YOU, and her expresion/emotions/thoughts are yours, but Chara is her own character.
She died to sans in 6 seconds, I would die in 1,
